A word from Ceres' Table
Ceres' Table features regional, Italian-inspired seasonal plates that pay homage to Chef Scurato's Sicilian heritage with respect to the technique, process and history of his native cuisine. A reflection of the Italian lifestyle, Chef Scurato has forged meaningful connections with Midwestern farmers in the spirit of cooking with seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients. In the new space, Chef Scurato has expanded the menu to feature mostly new offerings, including homemade pizzas cooked to perfection in a newly-installed wood burning oven that sits in the heart of the restaurant. The Italian-focused wine list showcases a sophisticated yet approachable variety, with more than 90 selections available by the bottle and ten by the glass. Additionally, the craft cocktail program highlights classics and house specialty cocktails.Continued

  • "Ceres Table just moved into Lakeview and we now consider it our favorite restaurant in the 'hood. The food is outrageously good and the service and ambience are its equal. I could eat the kale salad on a daily basis! My only suggestion is that the bar get a little less proprietary with their drinks so they can accommodate some basics (my cosmo was below average). I will be back - again and again!"

  • "The food was good, with a great atmosphere however for the area and amount of food you get it is over priced. Since it is quite expensive for what you get I doubt I will frequent there often."

  • "We were very curious since Ceres' Table moved into our neighborhood but we had no idea what we were in for when we decided to give it a try. This was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. We just went to Rome in May and this food was better than anything we had there! We loved the burata, the arancini and the pizzette. We had the squid pasta which was also excellent. DELICOUS! Our service was also excellent and all members of the staff were friendly and kind. The dessert was out of this world! Also, we brought out 5 month old baby and they were very accomodating. Thanks so much for a truly great meal."

  • "I've come here a lot, so I clearly like it. The porchetta I had this weekend was probably the first dish I've had here that I wasn't that happy with. The only complaint I have is the servers and busboys' tendencies to grab everything off the table as soon as you're done with it and look like you may be done. Please leave our table alone until every party is done with the course."

  • "This was the second time that we have dined at this restaurant and we enjoyed it very much both times. The pasta sauce with the fennel sausages was picante and excellent. The pizza was good. The sturgeon was tasty and, in addition, the price, while not inexpensive was not outrageously high."

  • "Had a great experience at Ceres Table. Nice variety of items, creative menu."

  • "We were late for our reservation but were given a great table after a short wait. Everyone felt that their meal was excellent across the board. Service was a little irritating in that they were constantly removing plates as individual members of our party were done with the course."

  • "The appetizers were wonderful. Service was very good, we were nervous because our waiter had a lot of tables but he still got us our order, food, more wine, and out the door in time for the show. The drawback was that the gnocci was extremely salty and the wine was not a generous pour."

  • "We had a fantastic meal here - shared a bunch of plates among 4 people, and everything was wonderful. Not a dish let us down. The gnudi and the whole fish were both awesome, and the crudo was delicious, as well - and much larger than expected. We will definitely return here!"

  • "Food was lovely, server Lance went out of his way to make a special experience for us with menu recommendations and even a list he wrote giving us non touristy things to do knowing we were visiting from nj."

  • "Great service, Neapolitan/Italian menu and quality preparation, solid wine list. Try the amberjack, the pizzas, and the homemade limoncello as a send-off."

  • "I mistakenly made the reservation for 3 instead of 5 but they were great and accommodated our group. The drinks and food were great. If you go hungry, opt for the larger portion of pasta as the pasta portions are on the smaller side. We will definitely be going back soon."

  • "The food and ambiance was great. Our server was very friendly. He seemed to have the five tables around us as well as the entire patio. Other reviews have indicated slow/surly service. Our waiter was great but they seemed very understaffed. The service was slow but I think he did the best he could."

  • "We enjoyed our first visit to Ceres' Table in Lakeview. The food was very good--we shared a couple of salads and a whole fish entree. The salads were decent but not outstanding--kale was tough (should have been shredded since it wasn't the tender kind of kale) but flavored well. And the broccoli rabe salad was remarkable for non-bitterness (a nice thing). Fish was very well prepared. Service was notably slow, but friendly. We were never offered any bread, which we didn't notice till we were nearly done and saw most other tables had a delicious looking basket. This is one of the nicer restaurants in our neighborhood so we would likely return and try different menu items."

  • "Service was not good. Seemed like the waitress had too much going on with other diners. I had Porchetta, lots of fat, little meat. Desserts were pretty good. Probably wouldn't go back."

  • "We in East Lakeview are so lucky to have Ceres' Table in our neighborhood. It's the perfect spot for sophisticated and creative dining at reasonable prices. It filled a void and I am so grateful. Have been twice and have two more reservations on the books."

  • "Ceres Table is a welcome of class & flavor to the Lakeview neughborhood. If you're looking for something unique, upscale, & high quality this is it. Enjoyed their Italian twist on the Bloody Mary. I could taste the oregano. And really loved the poached lobster Benedict. Delicious."

  • "Good food but overall i think the staff including the manager can undergo training on customer service. It felt like the servers were haughty and really just cared about getting everything done and over with. A bit pushy for the customers to move to the next course otherwise they give you the look that says, " if you're not going to order, then pay already and get out of the restaurant.""

  • "The restaurant is great and the food is amazing. I'm a vegetarian and they actually made me something off the menu - that always makes me happy - and it was delicious. I also had the flour less chocolate cake and OMG, me and my boyfriend had to fight over it! The service was incredible! I feel terrible I don't remember his name, but I'll make sure to get it next time ;)"

  • "Love this place and their new location is great with much more room. Everything is fresh and farm to table which I love. The crispy brussels sprouts are AMAZING and the dessert we had was absolutely fab. It was a chocolate mouse with caramel and oreo crumbles... I am sure I am oversimplifying it. Wish I could remember the name. Seriously, you have to have this dessert."

  • "I was a big fan of Ceres Table when it was located in Uptown and I thought it was easily the best restaurant in the Uptown/Andersonville neighborhood. Much to my surprise, the new location (and revamped menu) is even better! The food was incredible, the restaurants are beautiful, and Ceres Table has seriously upped its cocktail game. This is great for a fun group dinner or a romantic date. I love this place."

  • "Just moved to East Lakeview and am so grateful that Ceres Table also recently relocated here. Enjoyed a great dinner with three friends, and we all were beyond impressed with the food, service and ambiance. What a gem. Special notables: the pizzas, octopus salad, burrata and acancine for starters. I loved the Triglia which was a great fish dish. My friends split the pork chop. Very worth mentioning that my vegan boy friend was 100% accomodated by the great staff. At first glance the menu concerned him, but the server and chef accomodated him graciously and deliciously with a salad, cheeseless pizza and a surprise brussel sprout dish that was enviable. Can't wait to be back soon and often."

  • "We came because Ceres Table had just moved and added a pizza oven, which added to our options. We also like that Ceres allows us to bring our wine and pay a corkage, which is important to us. We were warmly welcomed by our server, Tiffany, who did an outstanding job throughout the meal, both with the food and in serving our wine. Our group of 3 ordered 3 different pizzas, all of which featured crusts that were crisp, slightly blackened, and moderate in thickness. The topping choices were extensive and well-made. We also enjoyed our appetizers."

  • "So happy to visit Ceres' at it's new home.. Pizzas are a wonderful addition to Chef's menu. So pleased Aubree, who also worked at the former location was able to wait on us. Ceres' will surely please it's old fans and new diners alike."

  • "Wonderful duck breast and a beautiful pork chop. A little heavy-handed with the salad dressing, but our server was happy to bring a new salad. Excellent pasta as well."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dining here. The chef's innovative menu provided us with too many options. Homemade pasta was cooked perfectly; sea urchin butter added a wonderful flavor with the clams. The pork chop was so big it was another meal the next night, and the pizzas were cooked to perfection with a lovely, crisp, slightly salty crust. they even accommodated my husband's desire to style his own version. We asked for brussel sprouts w/o bacon and it came with; however, the waiter left those to be eaten by my husband and me, and quickly came back with a delicious bacon-free version. The final lovely piece was allowing our daughter to tour the kitchen, on what was her 16th birthday. She is a "foodie" and she so appreciated this."

  • "My daughter took me here for Father's Day dinner. We were looking forward to trying out the new neighborhood restaurant and were generally pleased. The service was very prompt, and 2 of our 3 small plates and dessert were excellent and quite tasty. Unfortunately, we had to send the pizza back because it was burned. The 2nd try was slightly better, but still had a burn taste. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and may return, but avoid the pizza."

  • "Our meal at Ceres Table was so amazing that it's gonna give every other restaurant a run for their money. Amazing service, and every bite of everything was ridiculous. Will be back real soon."

  • "We had high hopes for this restaurant, but the prices charged are not justified. We had the arancine and the amberjack crudo. Both lacked flavor and portions are quite small. One good pasta dish (the nudi), the other lacked flavor and sauce. The entree size portion of pasta was more of an appetizer. Better pasta at Eataly. Much better options in Chicago."

  • "We had previously dined at Ceres' Table at its old location but the new Lakeview site exceeded our expectations because we were at Timeline Theater and Ceres' Table is a little over one block north, a lovely walk. We had the privilege of being seated by the chef and were told to ask him any questions about the menu, though we found our server most knowledgeable and solicitous. We each used the entire menu as a sort of palette from which to select, categories like salumi, formaggi, pizzates, primi and secondi and each member of our group was enormously satisfied by the variety and flavors of our choices. The chef- and server-recommended boudine was as special as we were told it would be, and overall, we felt it is still wonderful."

  • "This space has been 3 different restaurants over the past few years, and i was fully prepared to be ambivalent--but Ceres Table got my attention. For one, the food is AMAZING. From the brussels sprouts to the pillowy gnocchi with mushrooms, to the perfectly cooked octopus.. everything we ordered was a perfect melding of flavors, textures and visual appeal. Plus, the prices are way too reasonable for food that tastes this good. The new owners have also "softened" the aesthetic of what used to be a cold and cavernous space--by adding natural wood fixtures and tufted couches. We'll be back!"

  • "Wonder dinning experience - we focussed mainly on the crudi - delicious; Salads - awesome. the menu has many delectable treats - making it difficult to choose Service was very good, prompt, attentive without in any way being intrusive or overbearing the wine list organization and descriptions need a great deal of work - strange groupings, according to our server, the wines in a given group do not always have much in common - makes selecting anything somewhat of a shot in the dark, where you may not get what you had expected (and not always in a good way - not that the wine was bad, just not what we wanted."

  • "Really liked my first try at Ceres Table. We sat outside but the interior atmosphere looked nice and cozy. Great drink list and lots of wine and craft beer options as well. I had the ricotta salad which was delicious and a unique pairing with the pistachio and radish. The linguine vongole was my main course and I really liked it. Very simple but flavorful. The service could have been better. The waitress was nice but seemed like she had too many tables and we had to flag down the bus boy a few times to get what we needed. Overall happy to have a restaurant of this caliber in Lakeview and would go back!"

  • "I went to Cere's Table for the first time last night. The restaurant is beautiful (although they used many elements from the previous restaurant). Our waitress was attentive, helpful and cheerful. LOVED the large, varied menu with many small and large plate options. The mussels we had for an appetizer were flavorful and excellent. We split a fish and steak entree...the portions were large and they were delicious. We opted out of dessert (even though the options looked amazing). I would definitely go back. "
