A passion for cars and motorcycles from owner Georges Forgeois’s racing career provides a subtle accent to the elegant bistro décor at Cercle Rouge in Tribeca. The lively bonhomie of the bar area warmly envelops guests as they enjoy an aperitif at the bar or dine leisurely at the café tables, while the chimes of clinking glasses and the Art Deco sconces in the dining room invoke the transporting ambiance of a bustling bouchon in Lyon. In the summer, enjoy an afternoon cocktail on the charming outdoor terrace while experiencing the spectacular urban sunsets and la joie de vivre.

Executive Chef Pascal Condomine oversees an accomplished menu of bistro staples, such as French onion soup gratinée, steak frites and escargots. Alongside these classics, Chef Condomine has composed a proud menu of terroir cuisine featuring such house specialties as house-made pâté, foie gras pasta, duck magret, wild boar and an unforgettable côte-de-boeuf for two.

  • "Made a dinner reservation for the NYC restaurant week event. Don't think they were paying much of attention to the promotion. The food was mediocre at best and the braised lamb dish I had was way too salty and no much other taste. The other dish we had was the cod and it was bland. Portion was small. The seating was terrible and they chose to cram patrons in some sections of the dining area and leave several other tables empty (claimed there were reservations made but no one ever showed up. Not too smart). Definitely my first visit and now the last one for sure."

  • "It is not exactly local for me, but the best quality vs price vs everything French food to feel like I'm back at home. They change the menu according to seasons, have a really cool terrace and have a selection of their best wines at 50% off on Sunday evenings for their wine lovers (read: myself). Their coq-au-vin was particularly exceptional BTW. I would call it a typical French brasserie NYC-enhanced to fit the neighbourhood (Tribeca) and for the expat or French culture 'lovers', they celebrate all the regular French events (14th of July, Beaujolais nouveau, etc.). Voila. :)"

  • "15 minutes to order drink, another 15 before we receive them, another 10 minutes before we get good bottle of wine which we had to remind waiter about. Food was ok and certainly typical fair for a brassery but way to americanized in terms of taste and portions (too big) overall disappointed. also restaurant was empty when we showed up and they did not place us in best seats or table in the house or anywhere near. those seats were given to people who asked or moved there. poor management of this. only speedy service came when bill came..."

  • "Pre-booked an early Thanksgiving dinner, which turned out to be needless when we should up. Better safe than sorry. 49.95 prix fixe with 4 app selections, 4 entree selections and 4 dessert selections. All were appropriate to Thanksgiving, including a delicious mostly traditional turkey dinner. Everything was well done, and we left very happy. The space is beautiful, and the service was good (if a little more leisurely than what we expected). We'll definitely be back, and recommend it to anyone looking to be simultaneously fed and charmed."

  • "Decor and ambiance were pleasant. Service was attentive and patient. Food was excellent. I had the sweetbread salad and the rack of wild boar. Both were tasty and cooked perfectly. The boar especially had a rich, gamey flavor. Others had skate, also perfectly cooked and flavorful, and vegetable ravioli, which I did not taste. We arrived at 6:15 on a Thursday, and the restaurant was largely empty and quiet. By the time we left at 8:30 it was full and the bar was buzzing. I had no idea there was such a vibrant bar scene. Definitely worth going."

Service was prompt without being over-bearing. Nice to be able to sit outside during good weather. Decor is nice."
