Cercle RougeExcellent French BistroI ordered the house pâté and the plate of the day, which was cote de veau. The pâté was very good and the veal (cooked as the chef suggests) was excellent. My friend ordered the French onion soup and the braised rabbit. These were also of a very high standard. The service was knowledgeable and attentive. The wine list is mostly French, as one might expect, and there are many good choices available. Highly recommended.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food with attentiveDelicious food with attentive service. Very enjoyable lunch. We will be back. Thank you.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food service a little slowI brought 3 colleagues to Cercle Rouge for dinner. They have a nice French menu and had a very good suckling pig special.
The service was a little slow, but otherwise good. Larger groups came in half way through our meal, which may have impacted the service. I should note, I've been ther once before and received sterling service.
There was live music, which was nice.
The salad crouton were house made.
The overall decor, is classic French bistro.....nothing fancy, but comfortable. The noise level is high....this was not because of the music, just lots of people at the bar, etc. So, OK for casual conversation, but would be difficult for serious business discussions.
Overall. I recommend the sot, great food, friendly service.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCercle Rouge never lets us down!Their weekend clown was a draw for me during my first visit at Cercle Rouge but the food had us coming back for more. As a single mom finding a place that is both kid friendly and serve awesome food is a rarity. They welcome children and are patient with them running around and enjoying Mr. Diggity the clown as the adults sit and enjoy the great food. The Croque Monsieur and the Oeufs en Meurette are our go to favorites. Their prix fixe menu is both affordable and offers a wide selection. We will definietly return!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMagnifique!!!Formidable!!! My wife and I haven't had a red wine sauce worthy of the name, in New York, in decades, until last Saturday at Cercle Rouge; we asked for spoons. The dish, consisting of braised pork shank, celeriac, and a small, garliky salad, made for a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. Cercle Rouge, with its talented, imaginative, French chef is the perfect antidote to the tasteless, boring offerings that pass for French cuisine on the NY restaurant scene these days.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Cercle Rouge! DominicWe love Cercle Rouge! Dominic the host is always accommodating-greets us with smiles & makes us feel like regulars.
The Steak & Tuna Tartare & Onion Soup are wonderful.
Enjoy!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNous sommes tres contents! My wife and I must drive up to one hour to get to this fine restaurant, which needless to say is well worth the effort. The cuisine is authentically French, imaginatively conceived and executed by a chef trained in the grand tradition. The service is professional; helpful, and friendly without being the least bit overbearing or intrusive. We look forward, as always, to our return to le Cercle Rouge.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood bistro-"plus" level foodGood bistro-"plus" level food and service. If we graded the food on the "fancy french restaurant" scale it maybe fell a bit short, a little under-seasoned, the cod appetizer a bit too doughy, an entree a bit too reliant on salt, etc. But on a "bistro" scale it was excellent - certainly many very nice dishes, attractively presented. Very pleasant service and comfortable, traditional bistro atmosphere - appreciated the attention on service - manager was very attentive as well. We will certainly return. Great neighborhood choice.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWell-executed food, Perfect serviceThe food at Cercle Rouge is bistro fair with few surprises, but it is brilliantly executed. All of the classic standards are on the menu, and are prepared to what should be the benchmark for other restaurants. The service really shined. Solicitous yet unobtrusive, the interplay between runners, waitstaff, and host was a textbook of how it can and should be done. After having eaten at some of the best restaurants in the city and world, the level of service we received at Cercle Rouge matches any of them, and in some cases, surpassed a few of the Michelin 3 stars.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMneighborhood gemSo good we went two nights in a row! Exquisite cuisine, service warm, welcoming, and professional. If in tribeca, eat here.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Exceptional StaffI have been a patron of Cercle Rouge for many years and have always been satisfied with my overall experiences.
Last night something went wrong with the prerparation of the "choucroute"----it was incredibly over-salted.
I pointed this out to the restaurant''s host and he was very apologetic----he offered to quickly prepare another dish. I thanked him but indicated that I would pass on his offer. When the check was presented, my entree had been eliminated as was its cost. This was quite a classy unpretentious gesture.
Our waiter, Andre, also was incredibly attentive. When my wife asked him about two teas that she often orders but was unsure which she should select at that time, he insisted upon presenting both to her at no additional cost4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCercle Rouge is a delight.Cercle Rouge is a delight. Its inventive takes on traditional bistro food never fail to please. The steak frites is prepared in the classic style - great frites and a steak cooked to your liking. The canard a l'orange blew me away - no gunky sweet sauce here. A garnish of a blood orange with some fiddlehead ferns. Beautiful.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great meal, and excellentAlways a great meal, and excellent service; a gem in TriBeca!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
