Diner Reviews
  • "Wine great. Outside dining on the Square - perfect. The food is good. Not great, not bad. A little dry. If you have never been to France, have been wine tasting all day or just want an ok meal you will be fine. The menu has the right items, the execution is where it dulls."

  • "Our waitress took our order, served our dinner, but had no further contact with us. She did not check on us to see if we needed anything, she did not pour our wine, and the overall experience was disappointing. We were expecting more."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at the Center du Vin. We had a nice appetizer. We both enjoyed the salad with duck confit and oranges. The fruit tart and chocolate cake were tasty and attractively served. Excellent wait staff! We will be back and have recommended this to friends and family."

  • "Loud, extremely understaffed, and the food does not make up for it. Mussels and frites was pretty good but the mussels themselves were just ok. Halibut was well cooked but very boring in terms of spicing. Pork was rubbery and sauce was uninteresting. They need a bartender that actually makes drinks rather than making the waitstaff do it. And they need some bussers."

  • "You can't beat a glass of wine and a great meal on their front porch, very relaxing to watch the people stroll by on Sonoma Square."

  • "This is specifically for lunch. Had the french onion soup and the mussel frites with a glass of red. I'm generally positive in my reviews (because I love food!) but found this experience pretty average - maybe an off day. Starters and mains all brought out at once for some reason. Soup as the house sepciality wasn't great and the mussels were just ok."

  • "Hearing that this restaurant on the Sonoma Plaza was a good place for lunch, we went there on a Saturday night to try the dinner menu. The service was fast and pleasant and the ambiance radiated "fun". My two complaints are that the Centre, owned by Ledson, only serves his wines, and that my dinner selection was disappointing. I ordered the short-ribs of beef, which turned out to be large single rib which was under cooked and chewy."

  • "We're local and Centre du Vin is a convenient spot to duck in for dinner on a busy Sat nite. Pleasant staff, not spectacular, but good food. Nice pours on the wines by the glass. Prices ok for tourist destination."

  • "Lunch reservation 11:30 am; arrived at 11:27. Met by lovely woman (said she was not the manager, owner, or waitress; we were never sure of her position). She told us we could not be seated as the host had not yet arrived for work (there was not one other customer in the whole restaurant). Host then raced in, and we were seated. We ordered what sounded like a great array of soups/sandwiches. Yet when it arrived, all meals appeared smothered in cheeses/oils, & all were bland & uncreative. Told waitress; she did not apologize or ask why we weren't happy. Ordered dessert; chocolate mousse arrived as tiny "plop" on small white plate--ridiculously small/unappealing. Shared thoughts with others in town who said that it had gone downhill."

  • "Restaurant week - 3 course meal $29. On Sonoma Square-bar/restaurant opens to the square. Great old hotel with lots of ambiance. Food: not so impressive. It was pretty pedestrian in it's taste/prep/presentation compared to the cost (even though this was a deal compared to their usual prices). The crab cake reminded me of my canned crab/Old Bay concoction I make at home. Chicken overcooked, potatoes heavy and sauce stayed with me for hours (ugh!). Lemon brulee was good but nothing special (a person having chocolate mousse: a plop of pudding on a bread plate). All edible, but... Go for a drink and to soak up the atmosphere and, then, go to dinner somewhere else."

  • "Centre du Vin sprinkles blue cheese on its already good fries making them quite delectable. The rest of its food, however, is not in the least memorable."

  • "My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner! We like to share so we ordered a variety of dishes and enjoy all of them. Our servers were very attentive to all of our needs thru out our dinner also. Everything was really enjoyable!"

  • "We had a great lunch on the patio on a very nice Sonoma afternoon! The food was very tasty and fresh and a good selection."

  • "We ate here with our two sons and our teen-aged grandchildren, one of whom is a foodie and the other a picky eater. Both thought the food was great. The French onion soup was pronounced to be excellent , and my husband and I really liked the risotto croquettes. When we arrived, our table for six was set up in a corner by the fireplace which gave us a sense of privacy. The service was impeccable."

  • "We had an incredible experience at this restaurant. As wine club members we sat at the bar and enjoyed a wine tasting before lunch. We were lucky enough to be served by the General Manager/Executive Chef, Justin Bruckert, who was both attentive and knowledgeable. He also poured quite generously! The food was incredible. We had Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Mussels with Chorizo and Frites; absolutely outstanding."

  • "Everything was good, not excellent. I received my entree while others were eating appetizers. Very odd. Needless to say was done before others started. Waitress noticed the problem but didn't fix it. I should have turned the food away."

  • "I'm a nearby resident and have walked past this spot many times but never eaten here before. To be honest, I just thought it was a wine-tasting spot. While browsing open table, I found it was a restaurant. The short French themed menu and beautiful formal interior exhude, "Upscale, Fine-Dining Establishment." However, the service was very rushed (it felt like they wanted a quick table turn) the food was mediocre and overall the entire experience was much more casual that we expected. We wouldn't have minded in a pizza joint or Mexican restaurant, but I think the restaurant is setting guests up for disappointment. Centre du Vine is simply not true to the tone that it sets when you walk in the door."

  • "Quaint casual cafe in what looks like a hotel out if the French Quarter. I've had them a hundred places, but their mussels are superb. Croque monsieur w/salad is the perfect lunch. Surprisingly a bit limited & pricey on wines by the glass, but good choices offered. Eat outside on the patio to people-watch and complete the experience. This one is added to my favorites!"

  • "We sat out on the patio in the late afternoon. The service was great. The food also was great, but limited in selection. If you like traditional french dishes, which we do, it is a great place to go."

  • "A great place to have lunch outside! It's a regular spot for my family and I to meet for lunch. Get a great and well priced bottle of rose and enjoy steak frites, a turkey sandwich, cheese plate, whatever. A mix of French and Sonoma bistro fair. At night the indoors becomes a small jazz lounge."

  • "When I was in Sonoma last weekend I gave this restaurant a try . It was okay, but compared to the other restaurants available not great. It is a gorgeous restaurant for sure and maybe I caught it on a poor night so I'd be willing to try it again."

  • "Parisian cafe meets elegant dining room meets sports bar. Beautiful room with small uncomfortable tables. TV's with sports on are out of place. Bar, while beautiful, had loud boisterous patrons the night we were there. Food was just OK but uninspired and thrown together. Other Sonoma food was more carefully prepared and had subtle, more aged flavors."

  • "To a great little, right on the Plaza find in Sonoma. The small menu has just the right combination of light to more substantial fare, and the bar has interesting cocktail options for when you tire of vino.Service is friendly and attentive and the ambience is charming."

  • "The Ledson family and staff have thought of everything to make Centre Du Vin an awesome, must-do in the Sonoma Valley! The ambiance is wonderful, the food and wine outstanding, and the staff are like your best friend! Don't miss this spot for lunch or dinner and plan to stay the night in Ledson Hotel."

  • "We had such a wonderful time in the Centre du Vin. Felt like being in a French bistro. Lots of locals seem to come in and have either a chat at the bar, sip a glass of wine. We met a very interesting German Man, retired who lives in Sonoma and just enjoyed his night out talking to people. Food was excellent. Steak/Frites were wonderful. If you don't want to eat, just come and have a drink on the patio and watch the world go by."

  • "Not a friendly staff. They didn' t have our reservation with Open Table (they said no one must have looked it up) and they couldn't have cared less. We had a waiter change in mid meal with no explanation. Their Gorgonzola Stuffed Pork had no stuffing. They blamed us because we we ordered it wrong. A French restaurant with true French hospitality. Avoid this place as there are many others restaurants that will love to treat you well. They had a gentleman down from the winery helping for the night at the bar whom was the only bright spot of the evening."
