Central Marketthe owner chef came to ourthe owner chef came to our table.... They accommodated our last minute extra guest with no fuss. The waiter suggested items that were fantastic..... The stuffing in the trout was a bit too salty. The apple sorbet was odd and we didn't finish it.
Most excellent meal. Thank you so much15/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great foodAnd try the Chilean Reisling. The server nailed it when I described the crisp flavorful whites I prefer.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDisregard the NameCentral Market is hardly the name I would select for this amazing restaurant. Everything we had was terrific, even the water. The cucumber in the pitcher makes it take really good. The food was fresh and local. We are going back.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!This was our first time at Central Market and we were do happy with everything. The service was great, everyone we dealt with was super friendly. The good was delicious!! We had an amazing table in the very front by a window, which was great for our 10 month old baby, it kept her entertained with people watching and out of the way if she got fussy (which she didn't). We will definitely be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat romantic Dinner placeGreat location, first time, dinner for wife's bday, both of us loved it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat first-time visitOur first time at Central Market was a real treat as we met out-of-town friends for dinner. Although the Chicken Bamba was over-spiced, everything else was excellent and very fresh. We'll be back, soon!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I spent two weeksMy wife and I spent two weeks in California and the Central Market was the best restaurant in our journey. Excellent food in a very friendly atmosphere.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious farm to table restaurant!Really enjoyed our meal at Cental Market. A very interesting menu. I had the grilled halibut...amazing. My husband and son had the sirlon steak...melt in your mouth delicious. We also shared the Pate of Chicken Liver appetizer..yum and the butterscotch pot dessert...delicious. Will definately try this place again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral Market is our favoriteCentral Market is our favorite place to eat. We live in El Dorado Hills. Any time we plan a weekend in or around Napa we try to eat there. The food is excellent. We have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place for smallWe love this place for small plates but it seemed they have a smaller selection than in past visits. Still great food and excellent service4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant! Our experience at Central Market was great! We dined from the spring menu with one of us having the daily special, one of us having a pizza and two of us having the halibut. My dinner was the best I have had in a long time and I've been to some very well regarded restaurants. Attentive, unobtrusive service, incredible fresh food, excellent wine list. We are likely to go back to Petaluma just to go to dinner at Central Market. Highly recommend!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place needs a MichelinThis place needs a Michelin Star...NOW!! Amazing food and great service. The scallops were divine, the short ribs fell off themselves and the steak was buttery and excellently prepared!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food and service werethe food and service were terrific... the four of us had different selections and not one of us was dissapointed. We recommend the Trout, the Short Ribs, the Scallops, and Crab Crepe.... the lemon pie was not our favorite but the blackberry sorbet hit the spot4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time= Thumbs up!First time to Central Market, although we've heard about it for years. We were celebrating our friends' engagement. My daughter joined us, who is a bit of a picky eater. Our friends (from the East Bay) absolutely loved it, as we all did. The pate was outstanding, oysters (Happy Hour prices) were super fresh. Our waitress was pleasant, though a little rushed. She gave an excellent wine recommendation- always appreciated. When the Pot-de-creme arrived , along with the best cappuccino ever, we were all star-struck! The best part, was when my H.B. recognized an old college buddy up from Piedmont, the reunion was icing on the cake! Best dinner experience in a while! You guys got it going on! (PS. We live in Napa!!)4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe booked a table for 4 forWe booked a table for 4 for a joint birthday celebration. We've all dined there in the past and had positive experiences so this wasn't a first time visit. Somehow this or Saturday they really shone. The service staff was friendly, present when we needed them but not overly attentive. We appreciated the way they all worked with one another, none of that my table, your table issue. The food was outstanding. Rich and scrumptious pâté, delicious carmelized bacon cubes on the gem lettuce salad, the chicory salad was slightly over dressed, the entrees of short ribs and lamb were noteworthy. The lamb was truly exquisite, cooked perfectly and the couscous was phenomenal!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMexceptional dinnerA fantastic memorable dinner. Everything ... the wine (even by the glass), first dish and main course (slow-cooked ribs), and dessert.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, service, ambience. We stayed the night in charming Petaluma on our way up to Napa. The downtown area was full of quaint restaurants, but Central Market was a true find. The service was courteous and attentive, while the ambience was still casual, relaxed, and friendly. A lovely open space, that was energetic and vibrant.
Our waitress recommended a lovely, buttery Chardonnay - which we loved. Halibut was cooked perfectly, as were the scallops, but the real treat was seasonal dessert (and we never order dessert) - the lemon pie. Highly recommend.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral Market is one of ourCentral Market is one of our very favorite restaurants. We feel very lucky to live just a few blocks from it! The food is always delicious, and the menu varies according to the season.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food & service!Outstanding food & service! If I lived closer I eat here every day.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral market magicWonderful, highly competent service in a warm and convivial spot on a blustery March evening in Petaluma.
Sitting at the window table we watched Petaluma's Piano man entertain passers-by. We had asparagus/crab starter that was perfectly prepared. My rosy pink trout was flavorful, tender, and prepared simply enough that I could taste the freshness. My husband had the beef brisket and said piece A was perfect but piece B was a bit overcooked but I still give CM an outstanding five star rating. One of the best meals out I have had in Sonoma County in a very long time. The owners, the staff and the chef clearly love local food and have figured out how to create an authentic but magical experience with local flair.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA great night! WonderfulA great night! Wonderful server (Amy). Only complaint: was served regular not baby leeks and the horseradish sauce was a bit hot. We like spice and it was still a bit too hot. We will be back though many times to come!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular food, farm freshSpectacular food, farm fresh ingredients shouldn't be missed.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere Ethical Vegans Can Eat Meat!Amazing food from carefully chosen sources. I eat vegan for ethical reasons, and this was a great chance to indulge in dairy and meat from excellent, humane sources.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were 30 minutes early andWe were 30 minutes early and as the chef/owner came to open the restaurant, he was very accommodating and seated us immediately. We ordered the plated fix price menu, which was a 3 course dinner for 35.00. The Sonoma coast wine that was offered on their wine list went excellent with my dinner. The waitress was responsive, the food great.
I will go back, and bring the rest of the family.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Town!Awesome bovine art by Karen Green! Don't miss the cabbage rolls!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMComfortable, Fun, and DeliciousGreat meal with real Farm to Table food, I mean the pork that was on special was a pig from the chef's farm.
The service was friendly and warm and the menu had something for everyone. The wine list was notable because it had a nice array of wines at all different prices from various countries. We ordered a nice red from Nimes that was perfect with the pork and the lamb a few of our party was having. I had a Cremont for my halibut, loved it. Nice that they had it by the glass.
Overall we had a really good time here. These kind of places can feel pretentious but not Central Market. I would not order the fried pigs ears next time. They were okay but felt more like , "hmmm we have a pig what do we do with the ears."3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral Market never disappoints! We went for restaurant week with 4 people and we all utilized the Prix Fixe option for 3 courses. The Wagyu sirloin steak is incredible and I enjoyed a lovely asparagus/crab appetizer. We finished with the lemon pie a la mode.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMUsually excellentThis was our fourth visit to Central Market. We have always loved the food and service. This last time (St. Patrick 's Day) it was a bit less than stellar. Our server seemed a bit off (perhaps she wanted to not be working that night), and the selections on the menu were not as good as they usually are...I know that they cook seasonally, and perhaps that had something to do with the menu offerings. We will certainly go back....it was just a bit "off" that particular night.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI truly enjoyed my birthdayI truly enjoyed my birthday dinner at Central Market. We started our dinner off with a 1/2 dozen raw oysters that were delicious! We followed that up with a beautiful salad created with local greens and an amazing caesar style dressing. But, it was far from a plain caesar! Simply delicious, especially with the Nero d'Avola that we were drinking with our meal.
My husband had a wood fired pizza for dinner and was not blown away, especially since part of the pizza was very over done. BUT, I had the short ribs and they were delicious. Definitely in the top 5 meals I have ever had in my life.
Over all, it was a great meal and I can't wait to return and try the fish or the chicken!
Thanks Central Market!3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFun food tastingWent with 6 friends and each ordered a different small plate, all were excellent. I'm sure the service staff wasn't happy that we didn't order more, but we had been eating and wine tasting all day.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at Central MarketThis has always been one of our favorite places for a good meal. The menu is always changing, but has a standard fair. He chef is well known in town and very personable. The wait staff is very energetic.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
