  • "This restaurant is a good pick if you need to catch an event at the Met due to close proximity. The four of us really enjoyed the atmosphere. The wait staff were attentive and conveyed a welcoming feel to the evening. We all agreed the chowders were the highlight of the meal. However, the entrees were nicely prepared and presented. Two of us had the Charms Cod, one had a lobster dish, and one had salmon. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience and we agreed we would visit again."

  • "I confirmed that I would be bringing 4 bottles of our wine, & was told a corkage fee of $25 per bottle would be charged, which was fine. Upon arriving to our table, we waited over 15 min., & after requesting 3 different times for a server to please come over, he arrived, & opened our 1st bottle of wine. At this time the manager arrived and said that only 2 bottles of wine were allowed at a table for corkage. I explained that I confirmed for 4 bottles. He repeated at least 4-5 times, raising his voice each time, that we would be allowed only 2 bottles. I told him that I was appalled that he would embarrass me in front of my guests this way. One of my guests is a wine distributor for New York State! I will not bring guests here again!"

  • "While attending a three day conference at Lincoln Center we had a delicious lunch at Ed's Chowder House. The restaurant is right across the street from the Center and so convenient. The bar is unique with a rather nice size adjacent area with high top seating. We were immediately seated and the service was efficient. We chose from the price fixe lunch menu. The calamari was excellent and the portion was very large. We had the cajun fish sandwich which was deliciously prepared. This was our second dining experience here and would highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely luncheon."

  • "Had a fantastic lobster roll - one of the best ever paired with splendid cole slaw and a side of seasoned fries. Heaven!! The only drawback was the inattentive service. Not only was the waiter out of site when we wanted to order, he remained inaccesible to us for some time. We ordered pre-dinner drinks by label and the waiter assured us they poured our favored gin at the bar. Since the cocktails didn't taste quite right, as we left we spoke to the bartender who confirmed that the gin we ordered and were promised by the waiter is not served at Ed's. A delightful food experience diminished slightly by careless service."

On the Open Table reservation I noted it was her birthday and asked the to surprise her with a desert - preferably something chocolate. After a really pleasant dinner with great service without my solicitation (I actually had forgotten that I made the request) they brought out new silver and actually gave us two desserts! They made me a hero and my wife VERY happy."

At lunch, I opt for the soup and half a lobster roll, which comes with fab fries and coleslaw. Is that a bargain @ $18, or what.? It's hidden under sandwiches on the menu. At d inner, I often order the sauteed brussel sprouts as an appetizer. HIghly recommendable."
