Diner Reviews
  • "The family wait staff were funny and great. A father and daughter were serving our table. They were friendly and outgoing. As a joke we commented on the possibility of an office romance but then we were told he was her father. The father joked back about still being hot. We enjoyed the food and the wine."

  • "Ordered lobster pasta, menu reads half lobster, lucky if there was half a claw, overwhelmingly disappointed. Also, it was priced at $29.....not even worth 20. Luckily the server was outstanding, made up for a bit, but overall felt money spent better at multitude of other restaurants in the area."

  • "I recently moved to Burlington and was looking for some good restaurants in town... and I found one! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I brought my sister for her birthday and will definitely be returning."

  • "The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and our waiter very friendly. I highly recommend Celli's"

  • "It took more then an hour before we got our food. People who came later then us were served before us. We ordered medium rare steak and the steak was far from medium rare. It was well done. We did not want to wait another hour for a new steak. The staff was not very friendly or welcoming from the first moment we walked in. We would not go back."

  • "When I go to a restaurant, the top priority is good food and Celli's has that and then some. Both my wife and I loved our appetizers (mushroom bruschetta, meatballs) and our entrees were very good (mushroom risotto and chicken parm - which is a lunch menu item that they offered to make for me at dinner!). The dessert - bread pudding - was the best part of the meal. Sometimes bread pudding can be a bit too soft on the inside and this one was perfect - and so delicious. As for the ambience, it was good (AC was a bit cool so we could have had long sleeves). Service was outstanding - quick and attentive, but not rushy."

  • "The server was slow to take our drink and food orders. The pasta wasn't quite cooked. It's probably okay for apps after work with friends, but for a full meal there are better options."

  • "We are regulars and always enjoy our meals. I went for a girls night out with 2 friends and we ordered 3 different pizzas and shared. All were excellent. Ingredients were fresh. Crust was thin, light and crispy. One friend ordered tiramisu and the other crime brûlée - both enjoyed them. "

  • "Celli's Osteria offers a refreshing variety of offerings for Sunday lunch, albeit a little on the pricey. However, the quality and selection is worth it. Our party all agreed that the wines by the glass were priced somewhat high. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. This is definitely a go-back place for us."

  • "Our visit to Cellis was excellent. Jack our server was very friendly with us and walked us through the menu. The crostini appetizers were beautifully presented on a wooden platter. They were delicious as was the wine and the pasta meals. I cannot wait to go back!, this time I hope to stay a little longer as we had to return home."

  • "The meal at Cellis, while a bit pricey, was lovely. It's a great menu and a talented chef. The servers have so much attitude! My friends had a table of seven and 3 others showed up- the staff accommodated them but then treated them like pigs, throwing the food in front of them and snapping at their requests. (I sat with them until my party arrived). When I told my table about this, our waiter snapped back about how customers should not change reservations. I felt we inconvenienced the staff by being there. "

  • "I've been to Celli's with family and/or friends on a few occasions and we've never been disappointed. I attended with my wife and daughters last evening. Both the service and our meals were outstanding. The calimari ranks up there with my in-laws homemade version that we devour on Christmas Eve and Good Friday. The pizzas were delicious. The fresh pasta with tomato sauce and basil was also very enjoyable. Highly recommended !!! "

  • "My husband and I made another reservation for Sunday at Cellis,on account it was our anniversary. We were served by a very nice man, very polite and very efficient. We had delicious calamari and mushroom crostini to start, followed by homemade spaghetti with meatballs. The sauce is very good. Our wine was chosen by our server...a Riposso..very nice as well. All in all the evening was a hit , once more Cellis made us feel special. A special thanks to the female server who congradulated us on our anniversary. Well done!"

  • "First time at this restaurant. Service was quite slow - we were left standing at the door for about 10 minutes before we were even seated. Perhaps having 1 more server would have helped as the restaurant was quite busy. Very good quality food - starter and main - don't know about dessert as service was too slow. I would try this place again - food was very good quality."

  • "Kudos to the chef(s) at this restaurant. They never disappoint and we never leave unsatisfied. We have been here multiple times and are absolute in love with the pasta. Service is generally very good as well, but we've had our first disappointing night recently. Hopefully it was just a one time kind of thing because we want to keep coming back . Overall we would still highly recommend this place if you love pasta / italian food!"

  • "On the menu - authentic, rustic Italian cuisine. On the plate - beautifully presented food. And lots of it. On the tastebuds - delicious, perfectly cooked and spiced food. I particularly loved the calamari; moist and melt-in-your mouth. The service - friendly and efficient."

  • "Seventh visit in 12 months, each time ordering Spaghetti with Scallops. Very consistent quality and taste - tomato / basil sauce is fabulous. Service and approach by staff has improved greatly, we had two very pleasant and engaging servers last visit. I have recommended Celli's to several friends and neighbours and will come back often."

  • "even with a voucher, I'd walk elsewhere ! Maybe it's just me, but the place and food just didn't "work." The pasta was too clammy and I don't mean vongole. True the tomato sauce was sure "tomatoee" but when you're paying close to $30 you want pasta that tends to the al dente, not overcooked. The green house salad was pretty tasty although a trifle on the sweet side. But the two pieces of baguette and olive oil replete with a clove of garlic were delicious; just wish the waiter had offered seconds. The clientele was a nice mix of families, lovers, and old folks out for dinner "out". The room when filled up was pleasant enough. We enjoyed the walk back home...."

  • "Thursday...The first day of Spring!..although cold but sunny..my friends and i enjoyed a marvellous lunch at Cellis. WE all had their sumptious Paninis with soups and house salads...Our waitress JAMIE was fast and efficient , while her server friend entertained us with a joke or two! Loved the atmosphere and the wine and food, my friends and i will make this the GO TO spot from here on.Try the hero paninis or the tuna.. both excellent!..."

  • "This was our second visit in a few months. After a rocky start, with no one approaching Our table for almost 15 minutes, things were much better from that point on. Food was excellent but the service was just fair. We had another period of about 10 Minutes where all 4 wines glasses were empty but no waitress. To me, you should never be looking Around for wait staff, and 4 empty glasses is pretty glaring. To the owners credit and our Appreciation, they did not charge us for the appitizers and were very apologetic About our Rickey start. Just wish the service was a little more consistant. We will give it another try as the food was once again excellent."

  • "Sunday was a nice dinner with friends and family. Great service from Jack and Jamie, they made us feel at home, even with four kids in tow. From our appetisers to our mains and wine, we were never rushed or felt left out. The restaurant is warm and cozy with great pastas, we chose lobster taglietelle, and myself and friends had beet and the mushroom risotto. The bacon scallops app, was to die for, thanks again to our servers, we will come back."

  • "Been here several times and had great experiences. This visit was so-so. Food was good, although the prices seemed to have been raised and the wine prices are very high with more than a 300% mark up in some cases and of course, the bargains were out of stock.. That said the food is good but the service was not up to previous experiences, very slow after serving the mains."

  • "We stumbled upon Celli's one night while trying to find a place to celebrate my birthday we had a great time there and decided to go back for Valentine's day. We were not let down the second time. Pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauces were not too heavy. The bracetta is amazing there, the one with the honey was light and fluffy. Their Pizza was delicious and you can really taste how fresh the ingredients are. All in all it was a great place with an excellent atmosphere and delicious food, will come back for more for this rustic Italian restaurant."

  • "My husband and I went to Celli's Osteria for Valentines day. The food was devine from the bread to the dessert. We shared the scallops and Bacon, I had the roasted vegetables with goat cheese salad, loved it, husband had the Verdi Salad. For the main couse I had the Mushroom pasta with shrimp added, the shrimp were very large and ended up taking leftovoers home, delicious.. Husband had the sea bass and peppers& onions side he ate every morsal. For dessert I had the chocolate pistacio tart, and husband had the bailies cheese cake. nothing was left on our plates. It was a busy night but everything came in a timely manner and enjoyed the evening. I'd definately go back went. Glad I saw it on Open Table and decided to try it."

  • "Evening started well. Friendly and knowledge staff. Food was very good. Only negative was that As the place got busier, the wait staff disappeared. No one once asked if we would like more water or wine. We would have liked dessert, but it took 10 -15 mins for them to come back and see what we would like. Still took another 10 mins on top of that to get the bill and pay. Too bad because things started well."

  • "I ordered the linquine and clams which had absolutely no taste. Needed to add lots of cheese and salt to give it any flavour. Interesting - when I asked our server for the salt she said "tastes a little bland?" - like she knew. Wine prices are also very high. Even though service was good, not enough to bring us back. Too many other good places in town."

  • "WHILE THE FOOD WAS GREAT SERVICE WAS DISMAL. 15 MINUTES TO EVEN be offered a glass of wine is unacceptable. I dine out weekly and while the food was great the lack of attention by the server lowered any desire to return. A shame for a great chef to be destoryed by terrible service"

  • "We enjoyed a Sunday lunch with friends at Celli's Osteria. Panini and soups and salads were lovely, service was excellent. We especially appreciated the attention to a guest with celiac disease. The server was knowledgeable and helpful; there were many options on the menu. When a request was made which the server couldn't answer, she quickly consulted the chef and came back with a positive answer."

  • "Unfortunately we had a table in the middle of the front section - luckily not too much traffic (new years meant most tables would be filling up after we left) or it would have been pretty cold with the front door opening. Service from the 'helper staff' was very nice (unobtrusive, but making sure water was filled, plates cleared). Waiter not terribly friendly - felt like we were bothering him, frankly, and when the food was brought by other staff they were very abrupt and didn't bother to find out which food went where, instead impatiently demanding 'who had this'. Food was good, but not for the money - three of us totaled $150 with tip. For a special night out we expect to pay around this, but it didn't really feel all the special."

  • "Came with my husband on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Our server, Sharon, was excellent guiding us through the menu as some items were unfamiliar to us. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir, and fabulous pasta. The bread was to die for! We will be back."

  • "The restaurant has a fairly small menu but on the two occasions I've been there the food has been excellent. Portion size is good; not small but not so much you're straining to finish. Inside the place looks classy (though you don't have to dress up) and the chairs are quite comfortable. Can't comment on the wine list, as I was not in a position to enjoy a glass (had to work right after my meal both times). Service is pleasant and unhurried; almost a bit too unhurried on my last occasion, when I had a limited amount of time for dinner, but luckily I got out the door more or less when I'd hoped to."
