Diner Reviews
  • "The service and food were outstanding! It was the perfect venue to celebrate our anniversary : )"

  • "Great location in Napa. We loved just entering the restaurant thru a beautiful garden. We sat in the patio area with the fireplace going it was perfect. Great cocktails that were very original. The food did not disappoint. The special shrimp salad was a huge hit. The duck was amazing and very different. The special of pasta with pork shoulder also a winner. Leave a bit of room for dessert because they are well worth the calories. Creamer brûlée all the way! I've never tasted anything else like it. The girls will be back!"

  • "We were visiting Napa for my wife's birthday. The Celadon was an excellent choice. Great selection of food, drinks and wine. Will go there again when in Napa. "

  • "Food was good. Nice atmosphere. Good area of town. Pricey, but good."

  • "This recent dinner was last Sunday night and we felt like we were given the waiter-in-training. Service was slow, he did not know the menu or specials very well, did not respond to questions very well; so we wondered if it was ESL or simply that he had trouble hearing. Ultimately we enjoyed our dishes, wonderful flavor other friendly staff and ample food. At the end of the meal the waiter had charged us a la carte for our kids drinks and desserts even though they were included in the price of the kids meals. My husband thankfully caught the over-charge, and the waiter corrected it but it took much longer than we felt necessary to correct."

  • "Celadon is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent and the service superb. My date and I ate our dinner on the enclosed patio which was beautifully landscaped. A big fireplace is in the center of the patio and is used during the winter season. I am a local and just find it perfect for tourist and locals alike."

  • "We enjoyed the atmosphere. The menu was creative and interesting. Three of the six of us had the lamb shank - cous cous was excellent Lamb was perfectly cooked. We enjoyed the calamari and goat cheese for appetizers to share."

  • "If you are looking for one restaurant that has everything, including the best food in napa. Go here!"

  • "Celedon has to be considered amongst the best for small plates and appetizers, ehich is what my husband and I usually order. Their coconut shrimp and the pork belly spring rolls are to die for! Great spot and so convenient!"

  • "Food was very good. Restaurant not easy to find. Entrance is about 200 feet down a side street perpendicular to the street in the listed address, and we didn't see any helpful signage. This resulted in wandering around while our dinner companions waited for us. Don't need a response."

  • "Had a fantastic dinner here on our Napa weekend trip!"

  • "Outstanding chef with clever interpretations of tried and true dishes. Julienned pears and endive made his salad look good, as well as a different taste treat. Pasta of the day had pulled pork in it! Covered patio is a treat to sit in; well light interior restaurant not so much. Knowledgable and friendly bartender."

  • "My only complaint would be their limitation of certain dishes. The New York steak they said they only had 3 left at 6 in the evening, same with the dessert of the evening. I was impressed that they paid attention to the color of our clothes and gave us black napkins instead of white, in which, that leaves lent."

  • "The outdoor patio added to the incredible food served to us (veal for me - scallops for her). Food presentation was great"

  • "I liked this restaurant a lot. I was hoping for something more unique, something more exceptional but quite honestly, with all the exceptional restaurants in Napa it is hard to be a standout. I would go again, the food and service was very good."

  • "Have been to Celadon multiple times. Overall the service was much slower than we like and food was not the "to die for" experience we have had in the past. My wine selection was so-so for the price it cost. Here is the breakdown: Awesome spicy dipping oil with bread! Spring rolls - okay, not a huge fan of pork belly Mussels - okay - need more flavor in the broth, specifically garlic Salads - butter lettuce good but the cherry tomatoes were not, very mushy - caeser was okay - nothing special Entrees - steak - medium rare - blue cheese fries (couldn't taste the blue cheese) with broccolini - the carmelized onion sauce was awesome. My guest had chicken and enjoyed it. Not sure we will come again given we have so many other options in Napa"

  • "Just a great place for food, wine, and dining with friends. Outside seating is nicer than inside."

  • "Arrived at Meritage after the coast to coast flight and drive to Napa. Getting late and we were on a skewed body clock. Looking for a light dinner. Celadon came highly recommended. We were seated inside in a nice corner booth and immediately ordered. Food arrived promptly - mussels and salad. Excellent bacon and blue cheese broth, great mussels and fresh salad. Meal just right for the moment, service was immediate and cordial. This was a great start to a memorable week. We will be back to visit."

  • "To start with, the entrance to the restaurant is romantic. The outside eating is nice as it is covered and has a fire place. Once you are in the restaurant, it gives you a nice atmosphere of elegance. This is the place to take your significant other or special friend/s. The waitress and the staff were very attentive and the food, well prepared."

  • "The food here was tremendous. The calamari was great -- spciy and sweet and relatively light, the pork chop was outstanding and accompanied by a delicious sweet potato and mustard greens stack. The banana creme brulee is among the best I've ever had. The location, ambiance, and service were also very good."

  • "We have been going here for years and years. Celadon is always a wonderful restaurant. They have terrific specials on a regular basis, plus the menu favorites that are always there. We had calamari, crab cakes, gnocchi, and mussels. It was all excellent. The mussels were huge and delicious."

  • "Celadon is an old friend that never disappoints. The food is artful and the service always professional and friendly. On this visit I enjoyed the pasta of the day which was fresh made fettuccine with seafood, absolutely incredible! I look forward to a return visit and heartily recommend it."

  • "the food was delicious. Our cocktails were sublime. Our waiter was gracious and personable. He even went to check on the salad dressing ingredients for me when I asked. We had a great time, we weren't rushed, service was great. Loved it and will go back next time we are in Napa. The only reason it isn't a 5 for food is that I rarely give out 5's, there are only a few places in the country that I would give fives to."

  • "We had never been to Celadon and went based on Open Table reviews. The space is beautiful. The service was perfect, nicely paced, attentive and not pushy. And the food was great. Two of us had the special pasta - pappardelle with braised short ribs - which was as good as it gets. We also had the lamb shank and the pork chop. The shank was exceptional. The chop was good and flavorful but pretty tough, the one minor area where they fell a little short. Appetizers were calamari and spring rolls, both outstanding. A Caesar salad was very good. Bread pudding was actually light, and all the flavors in it were distinctive. We all agreed it was a super experience."

  • "We had a nice wine recommendation (an affordable small production pinot) and the tomato soup was delicious. The dessert was excellent (dark chocolate brownie w/gelato). Ok that was the good part. The service was really uneven (eg used plates sat for quite some time). The main course was uneven: the special was good but the pork dish was almost inedible: pork was tough and the "potatoes au gratin" was actually over-spiced, greasy sweet potatoes. The greens were nearly all stems. The plates were served when I was in the powder room (an absolute never!) and the food was cold when I got back. Nope, won't be back."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Celadon in Napa. It was our first time there. Our overall experience was wonderful. The majority of the food was fabulous. I had one of the specials for dinner which was a 21 day dry aged new york steak. The steak was not very good. It was not tender and no flavor. It was like a choice steak that I would purchase at a Safeway. I was disappointed in the steak. The rest of the food was outstanding. My husband and I would definitely return to Celadon in the future. The service and ambiance was great!"

  • "We sat by the fire and had a wonderful meal. The mussels were the highlight, but the pork tenderloin was a close second. We had made prior reservations and although it was not full that night, I would recommend making a booking."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Celadon. I had the special pasta and short ribs. Perfect! The endive salad was unique and extremely tasty. Service was a tiny bit slow for my taste, but those that like a more leisurely pace, but would probably find it perfect. Highly recommend."

  • "My wife and I chose Celadon to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and our choice was a wise one. We both had excellent meals which we have come to expect from this restaurant. The crab cake appetizer was wonderful. The Kolbe steak I had was tender and cooked exactly to my specifications. My wife's pasta dish was excellent. We finished with a flavorful Meyer lemon meringue pie. A great experience from one of the best restaurants in the Valley."

  • "They have the best calamari I've ever had and spoils me for any place else as I'm always comparing others to Celadon. We had sole and bass and they were both very good. Dessert was wonderful with delicious lemon pie that was at least 4 inches tall and creme brûlée with carmelized bananas. The service and the ambiance were both the best like always."

  • "Took a friend from out of town to lunch and picked Celedon based on reviews, location, and menu. It was a rainy day so not as crowded as past times we've been there. Knowing the owner for many years and seen the success of this eatery and Cole's Chop House but not been by for quite a while. Everything at this lunch was right on point from service to food. Great specials and a solid diverse menu. Had the Mahi fish sandwich and was the best! All three entries were great and having Greg Cole take our order was special. We sat and talked for couple hours and staff continued to check on us even after we paid up. Solid spot that I recommend highly."

  • "Been meaning to try this place for years, but am not often in Napa. It was worth the wait. Every part of the meal was beautifully seasoned and delicious. I eat at a lot of great restaurants in San Francisco. This one stands out because of the way they blend flavors and pay attention to detail. We ordered the chicken and the pork. I look forward to our next visit."

  • "Easy to choose meal! Small plates, green plates (salads), & main course plates. Delicious & filling. Outdoor fires provide ambiance."

  • "Needed a place in Napa where the "theme" of the restaurant wouldn't compete with a simple business meeting over good food. Service what spot on - there when you needed something and off-on-their-own when you didn't. The menu was very direct and easy to imagine what would appeal - something for all palettes as well. Good food all around and simple presentation. Vibe was a vaguely country-french, with american-pioneer west edging. Public parking right across the street helped enormously. Nice environment around Celadon as well, and afforded a rare, mid-day walk before heading back to the office. Just an excellent experience over-all."

  • "We have dined at Celadon several times over the years and keep coming back. The lamb shanks were delicious as were the crab cakes. Dessert, however, didn't quite measure up. The lemon meringue pie was good but not great (try Mustards' for a really great one) but the bread pudding was dry and mostly tasteless (we sent that back). Our waitress was friendly and helpful but her skills as a waitress needed some refining. I don't like it when the waitstaff leans across in front of me to retrieve items and I particularly don't like having the waitstaff stack the dishes on the corner of the table while clearing them. This is not the level of professionalism I expect from a premium restaurant. That all said, however, we will be back for the food."
