I've been to Ceiba twice and have enjoyed the experience both times. On both occasions I traveled to DC on business and Ceiba was close to my hotel. On both occasions I was with a group - the first time there were 7 of us and this last time there were 4. There is sufficient accomodation for 7 so we could still carry on a conversation. This last time we were seated by a window and had a great view of the vibrant street. The food was excellent - nobody had any complaints about the food. I have had both the seared yellowfin and the gniocchi, along with several of the appetizers. All in all I would recommend Cieba. We also visited it's sister restaurant Acadiana and has a wonderful patio dinner as well.

The food was amazing. It had a good selection of wine and cocktails also. We absolutly loved everything we ordered, however our server was awful. He was not nice or attentive and he had no excuse because the restaurant was nowhere near full. Having said that I would go back for the food.

Wonderful Restaurant Week choice...a very good deal. Dinner was well-paced...did not feel rushed at all. The Sample Ceviche was a meal to itself...such a great variety...absolutely delicious. Really appreciate the non-alcolholic cocktails...wish all restaurants would offer them. Love the nooks and cranny atmosphere and the lively, but not overwhelmingly noisy scene

Went for their restaurant week menu and we were very impressed. There was an option in each category for all food preferences. As a person with celiac, I was really happy with their gluten free options that went beyond lettuce. Great fish dishes. In addition to the restaurant week menu they had a special of the night that available for those participating in restaurant week. We both really loved all the options.

Server knowledgeable. Had ceviche sampler, salmon and flan. Enjoyed everything. Wife had gazpacho, shrimp and flan and is still talking about the meal. We arrived early (6 pm). The bar was 4-6 deep and the restaurant empty. Restaurant filled up quickly. Noise level OK even though bar is right next to the dining area separated by a partition. Altogether, a very good experience.

Ceiba understands positive memorable dining involves great food plus the delivery-- service and presentation. Dining theatre!

This was my second time going to Ceiba, and just like the first time I went, I really enjoyed my dining experience. The food was delicious and our waiter was very nice. I went to Ceiba with one of my girlfriends - she had never been and wanted to try it for restaurant week. I was delightfully surprised by Ceiba's restaurant week menu. Normally restaurants participating in restaurant week have a very specific menu especially when it comes to entrees. While Ceiba had a separate menu for restaurant week, it allowed you to have any regular entree which was great. We both had the whole red snapper and it was delicious! We also had empanadas and the ceviche sampler for appetizers. We shared a side of rice. We also had dessert - very tasty.

The menu choices, the service, and the food were as superb and good-value-for-money as always. However, at a recent lunch with 3 pals, --we had a 1:30pm Wed. reservation--the noise level was borderline unbearable. Not noisy babies or kids--just poor acoustics and very vigorous conversations! Never noticed it at previous dinners. Our conversation was actually limited until about 2:15-2:30 when the crowd had diminished. Glad for Ceiba's bottom line that the restaurant was so full and lively but would strongly suggest spraying the ceiling with foam insulation to hold the decibel level down to a duller-roar.

We enjoyed the restaurant week menu at Ceiba recently. The meal & service was impeccable & the flavours outstanding. The waiter recommended mojitos (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) & a selection of argentinian wines which we enjoyed imbibing. We began with the special appetizer, beef cheeks arepas (perhaps the star of the meal) & the ceviche sampling (each different in flavour & preparation featuring sea bass, shrimp, tuna & tilapia). Our entrees were the moqueca (brazilian fish stew - rich in complex flavors) & the chimichurri ribeye (tender , complemented with a fresh chimichurri sauce & crispy onions). We ended the meal with the caramel flan (starchy & ordinary) & the churros (simple yet delicious) served with a rich, dark chocoloate sauce.

I took my daughter to Ceiba for her birthday. We both loved the food, the atmosphere and our waiter Benjamin (who we nick named Mike). We ordered from the restaurant week menu as well as some additional appetizers. We ate so much, we had to take the food home. We believed it was better the next day! While at the restaurant, we had a few mishaps in the kitchen. However, the manager was so apologetic and quickly moved to correct the errors. In the first incident, our appetizer was delayed and we were so busy talking, we hadn't noticed. The manager did and moved to correct it in the kitchen and apologized to us for the delay. Despite the errors, I highly recommend Ceiba. After all, humans work there. :-)

We returned to DC largely to have a special anniversary dinner at Ceiba. My requests thru Open Table were met, which largely added to our dining enjoyment. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. Service was friendly and professional, and our waiter congratulated us on our anniversary. Our dinner was amazing. We so loved their Crispy Fried Oysters, Ceviche Sampler, and then, the reason we had to return, the Moqueca Bahiama Brazilian Seafood Stew! I give this restaurant my highest recommendation!

Ceiba, in my view, provides a nice variety of Latin dishes that are all tasty. On this occasion I had the guacamole and the Cuban sandwich. Both are always good choices. The guac has a nice flavor, although it is not made tableside (my only crit). The sandwich is a good size, very filling, and flavorful. The oversized chips and thick sauce is also a nice touch. Much more interesting and tasty than a typical Mexican restaurant salsa. The server was polite and attentive, but also very quiet (seemingly disengaged). Other servers I have had typically engage with the customers and make for a pleasant lunch experience. Prices are in line with other downtown DC restaurants for lunch, so expect to pay at least $25/person.

Ceiba is a good place to meet up with friends downtown. Menu is unusual and creative. Ceviche is terrific. Service was mixed. Fun and good explanations of the menu on one hand, and waited politely to take orders etc.. On the other ...half of us had drinks and other half did not get theirs. Had to call over a waiter to remind our waiter to bring the rest of the drinks.

Don't know what has changed but the food was tasteless and for the price I would expect more. The dip they served with the crisps tasted like solidified ketchup, the fish tacos tasted like van de camps frozen fish sticks and the salsas had no taste. The guacamole was the only redeeming factor. Sad to see Ceiba has lost its pizazz.

I was ready to take the famous Lomo saltado but was informed that this entree is only available on the lunch Menu. What a disappointment!! I think it was very expensive for what we had. I had the PORK TENDERLOIN and the meat was good but the side was pretty poor... My friend had only a starter and we got two cocktails without alcohol, we end up with a bill around $70 without the tips....
