Ceia Kitchen and BarStrait A'sIt is hard to find words that properly express the joy of spending an evening at Ceia. There was nothing about this restaurant that does that doesn't scream Fantastic! From the moment we walked through the door there was one beautiful experience after another. Like a great play, each role was performed effortlessly and with great confidence. Overall, Ceia is quality without pretense. Run don't walk to this gem!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Tuesday night MenuI went for the Tueday night fixed price 3 course menu and was thoughly surprised--appitizer, pasta with veal and then scallops. This was an Italian inspired menu and cannot wait to go back for more--some Tuesdays, it is Portgaguese and another Tuesday, Spanish.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative Cooking in NewburyportLots of exposed old brick in this three story place gives it a rustic, welcoming atmosphere. It may be noisy on a busy night. On a quiet Wednesday evening we tried two "pinchos" - Manchego & Serrano Croquettas and salmon tartare. Both were excellent, but the croquettas earned an extra star. Our entrees included seared scallops, Shrimp Mozambique and Rabbit Ballotine. Each entree was prepared with interesting, perhaps unusual, ingredients that made each dish a tasty and satisfying experience. They were all outstanding, but my wife's Shrimp Mozambque was my favorite. Although a bit pricey, the wine list is well chosen. We made plans to return soon.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem!!WE went as a meeting place we found on Open Table and what a find! The decor is lovely with exposed brick that overlooks the busy and pretty street. The waiter was the most knowledgable, friendly, and accommodating in every way. The menu was a bi tricky so he explained ti all perfectly. The delicious cuisine was served on interesting 'shingles' and beautifully plated. Everything we ordered from a selection of apps, small plate, entrees, dessert as well as cocktails, beer tastings, wine and sherry was absolutely delicious! The hake special with fiddlehead ferns was pertly prepared. The kale salad was fantastic. The breads were amazing. Certainly one of the best dining experiences we've had thanks to Open Table.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMInspiredFew kitchens turn out plate after plate displaying this kind of clarity and cohesiveness. Such delicately balanced flavors, colors, and textures! Someone in there has vision (coupled with flawless technique). We had a brilliant meal, and it was "just" lunch. We'll be back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLived up to the hypeA few friends and acquaintances had raved about this place and we were not able to get into it last year when it was in a smaller location last year. We had an amazing meal and great service! This is definitely what I would refer to as fine dining! Alaskan Salmon was the best I've every had and it was cooked to perfection.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in Newburyport!First time at Ceia and it won't be my last. We noted in the Open Table reservation form that it was our anniversary and the waiter greeted us with champagne and congratulated us on our anniversary. The waiter, Alex, was knowledgeable and helpful but not intrusive. Service was attentive and they moved at our pace. The wine selections is fantastic! The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The best part of the experience was that Ceia has managed to provide upscale service and food without the pretentious attitude that many "fine dining" establishment exude. It definitely meets its goal of being a place to linger and enjoy good food with good friends.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the best restaurantThis is the best restaurant .We went back for a second meal. Why tempt fate when you have found a gem. Excellent. And we are described as restaurant snobs.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Unique MenuHad a wonderful anniversary dinner. The menu was amazing. The dishes were perfect and the flavors blended perfectly. We cannot wait to return and try something new.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service very good.Food and service very good. Noise level was very loud even though we'd asked for quiet table. There was a large party of women next to us, and is was painfully loud. Would possibly try again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely mealWe went for Mother's Day Brunch, and everyone at the table had a lovely time. The food was inventive and excellently prepared (especially the steak and lobster benedict, a big hit at our table), and our waitress was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed and casual, but still nice enough to be appropriate for a celebration lunch or a special night out. We will definitely be returning.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time weThis was the first time we dined at Ceia. We enjoyed it very much! Both the food and service were wonderful. I would not hesitate to return!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than most in BostonThis restaurant is my wife and I's favorite in the Northshore and one of our favorite in New England. We lived in the SOuth End for many years and that is the mecca of fine food in Boston and Ceia could stand up to any there and probably win! We feel lucky to have this gem outside the city!!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCeia is the spot.My girlfriend and I trekked to Ceia this past weekend from outside Boston, and it was COMPLETELY worth the trip. The 3 story restaurant is one of the best I've been to. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. And the food was to die for, the whole drive back to Newton we were whining about how we wish the meal had never ended. We started with drinks and some appetizers, the St. Avion was amazing, and the duck liver mousse, olives and charcuterie was enough to make us come back and we hadn't even ordered our mains yet. We ordered the Hake and the Scallops and they were cooked perfectly, and looked amazing. We are counting down the days till we go back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful decor, delicious fareWe really enjoyed our dinner there, beautiful atmosphere, friendly service and food was all delicious and plated artistically
Best flan I've had at a restaurant5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated PalatesGreat dinner with old friends and a favorite waitress who was incredibly weet, knowledgeable and attentive. Out of town friends loved the distinctive menu with its diversity and seasonsal choices.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like trying different foodsThis is the place for you. The server was great and knew her food. Let them guide you through the Cheese and Charcuterie
selections unless you know your Tapas. We grazed and enjoyed her suggestions. We ordered the special Spring pasta to share. Too small to share for 3. It was the freshest of ingredients, and delicious. The fritters were light and again singing with spring flavors. Runner beans were ok, a bit too hard. Great first time experience!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCeia is awesome!! The foodCeia is awesome!! The food is phenomenal. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and recommend to friends. Good for nights out with friends, birthday dinners, gets a little tight so not so sure about larger parties. DEFINITELY make a reservation, they had an hour wait without one. Overall delicious and a great time!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMwas very pleased to have ourwas very pleased to have our requested seat granted! server was knowledgeable friendly, efficient and attentive without being over bearing. would love to see the bean dip come back in place of the butter with the bread and perhaps a more enthusiastic bread offering highlighting local bakers4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Service was good,Great food. Service was good, but a bit slow. They seemed like they were understaffed for dinner rather than poor service.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet food, cozy atmosphere.Gourmet food, cozy atmosphere. Loved the wine list and eclectic menu offerings.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWarm, inviting and delicious! We went on a rainy Tuesday night (and unfortunately they weren't offering their price fixe menu, not sure why, we forgot to ask) and the place wasn't very full, so I can't say what it would be like on a weekend night, but the food was excellent, the service great, we had a great waiter who let us take our time and the ambiance romantic. Nice brick walls, warm tones and soft lighting with great jazz playing in the background. The restaurant is spread between three floors making each dining room cozy and intimate. I would definitely go back.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
