A word from Cedar Hollow Inn Restaurant & Bar
The Cedar Hollow Inn has been a local favorite for over 12 years. The building, which was built in the mid 1800's, lends an old-fashioned charm to an unpretentious atmosphere.

Chef Stephen Guiseppe of the Culinary Institute of America adds personal flair and imagination to a delectable menu of American Continental dishes. The daily Chef's Specials are creative and unpredictable, energetically inspired an hour or so before the menu is finalized.

Indulge yourself, family and friends to a casual fine dining experience in any of the three dining rooms, including an enclosed sun porch and a large bar area. Tucked away in the middle of everywhere, the Cedar Hollow offers an experience that keeps you coming back.

I have been to Cedar Hollow many time for lunch and just love the wild mushroom soup. So, when my Dad wanted to take me out for my birthday, I thought of Cedar Hollow as I live nearby. Dinner was just a major disappointment. Not one of us had a dinner entree that they would ever have again. The full rack of ribs was very fatty, the lobster and crab ravioli had zero taste and the braised ribs were unmemorable. Even the key lime pie was forgettable. Won't be back for dinner and will think twice about lunch again. Something has really gone downhill here.

Excellent food - you would expect to find this menu in NYC, but here it was in a cute little place in Malvern PA! Our server was a bit slow but I think she was relatively new -- certainly would not deter me from going again because the food (and beer list) was awesome!

While two of the meals ordered were excellent, the Prime Rib special was not served as ordered and was sub-par. The horseradish mashed were over spiced and even dinners that like spicy food thought they were over the top, although my head congestion certainly cleared up.

Only half of our party enjoyed their food. The waitress dropped her pen in my mother in laws water and didn't even realize it. The restaurant was however quiet and clean.

This was a repeat visit to Cedar Hollow for us. The food is consistently wonderful, especially the mushroom bisque, which deserves to be in a food group all its own! This night our seafood did not disappoint, well prepared, well presented. We each had a glass of wine from a good selection with plenty of variety, though if you're looking for a spectacular array of choices you may not consider the wine list exceptional. Service was very nice, though our server did get lost a bit toward the end of the evening as they were preparing the tables for the next day. Our only small complaint was the spillover of the bar noise into the dining room, but that was not a big issue considering how cozy and pleasant the front room at CH is.

My dinner at Cedar Hollow Inn was OK, but not great -- I had the pork and it was bland. The beet salad was excellent, though. However, for a main menu with well over a dozen varied items to have a single vegetarian option is unacceptable. Vegetarians should give this place a miss, which is what my wife (and hence I!) will do in future.

My husband and I had not been to Cedar Hollow for several years so we were excited about the upcoming evening. The atmosphere is lovely ; our waiter was terrific - friendly and attentive. However, the food was disappointing. My duck breast did not have much flavor and it was more like a rubbed finish than a nice cranberry sauce, as described on the menu.I love duck but this one was somewhat dry and uninviting. The wild rice had a very rough taste; I think someone accidentally dumped too much thyme into the mix; the asparagus was fine. My Margarita was delicious. My husband had the flank steak which was okay but nothing to write home about. Wish I could say better things because I like this place in general.

We had a pleasant dinner on the enclosed porch overlooking a lovely flower bed. My "drunken" clams and mussels were nicely spicy and served with tasty corn bread. Our entrees were a nicely-cooked salmon filet over mushroom risotto and a delicious piece of bronzino. Cedar Hollow also prepares a great Margarita!

What a disappointment. It took forever to place our order. Then it took over ten minutes before waitress returned saying the kitchen was out of one of the entrees. Appetizers were fine but the entrees were awful. My wife's bronzino was disgusting. Ugliest dish I have ever seen. And it tasted bad even after it was sent back and corrected as it was not delivered as ordered. Our guest had a shrimp dish and she had specifically told the waitress she did not eat meat. The dish came with pancetta and our guest became physically ill. To add insult to injury the owner was indifferent to our concerns.

  • Twice Cooked Calamari???
    KitchenGuyVIP
    Dined on 7/11/2014
Forget our drinks came individually 15 minutes apart, they forgot water despite being asked TWICE . Our order of calamari was very dark brown yet incredibly "mushy". I puzzled all weekend being in the business myself. The conclusion I came to was it was cooked at too high an oil temperature (burnt) then left sitting under the heat lamp while the lettuce it was upon sweated enough to make the calamari squishy. We all tasted (bad) and asked to return it. It returned 5 min. later even darker and absolutely horrible tasting. I called the waitress over and asked if they had simply re-fried it and she said "Yes, I told them I didn't think that was right." Perhaps the grossest thing I've ever tasted. And the waitress knew yet brought it.

The food was great and our 14-year old picky eater loved the choices on the kids menu. There are some tables on the enclosed porch with a relaxed atmosphere. The bar is welcoming and there were interesting local beer choices. This is our third time at Cedar Hollow and all three times were excellent. My husband is a real foodie and he loves this place. Go on Sunday for the buck a shuck oysters!

The food and service is always consistently excellent at Cedar Hollow, making it a solid choice for either a date night or a business meeting. I would suggest dining in the back room as opposed to the porch if you are planning on private conversation as the acoustics (noise level) are much better inside.

Private corner table on the front porch enabled conversation. Our server, Olivia, was very attentive and pleasant. Menu was broad with nice specials to supplement our choices. Food was carefully prepared, delicious and sized to satisfy our appetites. Loved the baked oysters, lobster ravioli, all seafood entrees. Looking forward to beef next time. Live music from the bar entertained us through dessert. We will return!

Dinner here for my wife's birthday. Calamari appetizer was nicely spiced but a little crispy for my taste. My wife had the prime rib special (Saturday); very nice. I had the Salmon......a little undersized portion but tasty. Will come back again......like to try some selections from their lite fare menu.

Always the last minute, we were lucky to get reservations pretty close to Mother's Day at this very nice restaurant with good food and good service. And everyone was so cute with our 4 yr-old grandson. Thanks to Open Table, we now know about Cedar Hollow Inn and will be coming back soon! Well worth our 35 min drive from Maple Glen which was a breeze with the newer Exit 320 for Phoenixville/Malvern.

Cedar Hollow Inn is a little gem of a restaurant tucked away on Yellow Springs road near Malvern. The food, service, and ambiance are always excellent and moderately priced. The surprising part is how well the sound is managed. Even though the bar area is always bustling, and there always seems to be a large group eating in the dining area, the sound level is never intrusive, allowing for a romantic dinner for two or a business meeting. The wine list is above average for the area, albeit with a moderate markup. I would highly recommend it for either lunch or dinner.

Have eaten hear several times over a period of years. On May 7th, the kitchen had a rough time. Ran out of mashed potatoes at 7:15pm? Substituted complimentary asparagus. Long time between apps and entrees. Server was clueless on menu details. Meal took 2 hours. Diners that came in after us were on dessert while we waited for entrees. Special beef entrée $49? Whose buying that? Special stuffed pork chop was overcooked and extremely dry....cost was credited. A real off night for CHI. Would not turn down a future invite to CHI, but not making a point of going there again for awhile.

Today at 10:43 AM We requested (via open table) to sit on the popular porch and it was granted. Our server was attentive and professional( but too young to help with wine selections). So far so good, right? And then they brought the food - Superior! The prime rib melted in my grandfathers mouth. My husband said it was the best snapper he ever had, specifically because of the way it was cooked. And there are no words to describe the delicious shellfish (crab and avacodo) dish I orderered for my self. If you have been meaning to try Cedar Hollow and haven't yet, I highly recommend you put it on your "to do" list. And the oysters??? Best in the area! We will be back!
