A word from Cedar Hollow Inn Restaurant & Bar
The Cedar Hollow Inn has been a local favorite for over 12 years. The building, which was built in the mid 1800's, lends an old-fashioned charm to an unpretentious atmosphere.

Chef Stephen Guiseppe of the Culinary Institute of America adds personal flair and imagination to a delectable menu of American Continental dishes. The daily Chef's Specials are creative and unpredictable, energetically inspired an hour or so before the menu is finalized.

Indulge yourself, family and friends to a casual fine dining experience in any of the three dining rooms, including an enclosed sun porch and a large bar area. Tucked away in the middle of everywhere, the Cedar Hollow offers an experience that keeps you coming back.

  • Food and ambience disappointing

Food not tasty: lobster bisque was mostly filler (ick) and had no lobster pieces in it. Server did not bring salad which came with my entree -- reported delicious by those who ordered same entree. Hawaiian fish special was pretty tasteless. I have to say, though, it was was most interesting item on menu, which was more boring than recollected. It was a beautiful night, and we were seated on side patio which has potential to be lovely, but CH hasn't made it so. Air conditioner -- covered with plants and flowers -- was loud and obnoxious and literally adjacent to table. Wished for upstairs porch -- would be a great place to eat outdoors in wonderful weather. We'll return for drinks/appetizers. Dinner not worth the price.

This was not our 1st time to Cedar Hollow Inn. But this time was disappointing. The waitress was pleasant but the service was pathetic. We had to ask for water and the bread. She needed reminding for our drinks. We both got braised ribs which was tasteless. All in all it was not a treat to spend the evening there.

First visit, good menu selection. reasonably priced menu, either for dinner or causal items for someone not too hungary. Seevuce was very good, and large beverage selection.

The food is average, a little overpriced for what you get but it is the service that will keep me from going back. The wait staff is nice enough, but SLOW SLOW SLOW. To be fair, it may be the kitchen that is slow, but the time we had to wait for all of our food was was too long. For example, it took us 15 minutes to get our after dinner coffee and then we were able to drink 2 cups of it before our dessert finally came. We were ready to cancel dessert and ask for the check.

Cedar Hollow has some thing for everyone... A great bar scene, high tables for 2 and 4 people... white table cloth dining on the porch.... Complete menu, great specials...(gotta try the roast beer) and the big winner, a great selection of oysters.

I chose the restaurant as a half-way location to meet a friend. It is an hour away for each of us, from opposite directions. I was seated in the front room while waiting for her. The area was full when she arrived and we could not hear each other over the noise. We are seniors so that probably contributed to the problem. The waitress was happy to move us to the room at the back of the restaurant. We were now very comfortable in a quiet location and able to hold a conversation. We had a new server, Kathy, who was delightful and accommodating. We were able to stay as as long as we wanted even though we were the only diners remaining. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, plan to meet there again, but will request seating in the back room.

Upon Googling "Dinner & Dancing in Chester County," the first 3 hits were for Cedar Hollow. We wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday on a Friday night. Everything started fine. The location is secluded yet convenient. The building is picturesque outside & in. The porch dining area was romantic, the service & hospitality were impeccable. Our waitress was knowledgeable & the Rock Fish delicious. We lingered over dinner waiting for the music to start. It never did. When we asked about it, the hostess said they just spoke to the musician on the phone & she had the wrong date in her book. She thought she was scheduled for next week. We met some nice people at the bar and will return for another try.

Friendly service, nice ambiance (on porch). Food was a mixed bag: some very tasty (pan-roasted rockfish), some undistinguished (lamb shank), and the toughest brussels sprouts I have ever encountered. Side salad with dinner would have been $4 extra. Our bill for three meals - two dinner entrees, one roast beef sandwich, one beer, one ginger ale, three desserts, and three coffees: $99. We've had better meals for a lot less.

The location threw us as it seems to pop out of no where. The staff people were professional, but a bit too stuffy in that instead of making us feel comfortable (preferred), we felt uneasy. There were 7 of us, 2 of them under the age of 13. The kids didn't like their food at all and the others of us felt the high price did not equal high food qualilty. The presentation of the meals was great but the trip was not worth our while. We were looking for unique/distiguished experience but all agree that heading to a chain restaurant would have been preferred. We wouldn't recommend this little place. it wasn't a good experience. Hope this helps!

Another great dinning experience. The menu has a varied selection with something for everyone. The beer selection is very good for a restaurant of it's size. Our waiter was very helpful with choices and made our dinner enjoyable. There was no rush to the dinner and we ate in a relaxed atomsphere. Definately will be returning to dine again.

Generally speaking, I'd rate it as "just OK"; we were glad we had a Groupon, giving us a $55. credit on food (Sunday), as we thought the wine prices were on the high side, considering what choices they offered. Entree prices were, for the most part, reasonable; appetizer prices also seemed high-ish, altho' portions for these appeared generous. My partner's filet mignon, requested to be cooked medium-rare, clearly came out medium; and, my braised short ribs, altho' pleasantly served boneless and nicely tender, were overly salty-tasting. The bar area, right next to our enclosed-porch dining area, clearly attracted a sports-loving, sizeable crowd, and they were rather noisy; but then, it WAS "March Madness" time for NCAA basketball.

Cedar Hollow is 2 1/2 miles from our house, so we are regulars. The food is very good - try the lobster ravioli. The bar menu is quite good as well - the crab and avocado stack is awesome. We had outstanding service from Connor the night we took my parents there for a birthday dinner. The whole place has a romantic vibe and they have music almost every night in the bar. Just accoustic so you can still hold a conversation with your date. The crowd is 30's/40's and up. Overall, we love this place!
