A word from Cedar Hollow Inn Restaurant & Bar
The Cedar Hollow Inn has been a local favorite for over 12 years. The building, which was built in the mid 1800's, lends an old-fashioned charm to an unpretentious atmosphere.

Chef Stephen Guiseppe of the Culinary Institute of America adds personal flair and imagination to a delectable menu of American Continental dishes. The daily Chef's Specials are creative and unpredictable, energetically inspired an hour or so before the menu is finalized.

Indulge yourself, family and friends to a casual fine dining experience in any of the three dining rooms, including an enclosed sun porch and a large bar area. Tucked away in the middle of everywhere, the Cedar Hollow offers an experience that keeps you coming back.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had a pleasant dinner on the enclosed porch overlooking a lovely flower bed. My "drunken" clams and mussels were nicely spicy and served with tasty corn bread. Our entrees were a nicely-cooked salmon filet over mushroom risotto and a delicious piece of bronzino. Cedar Hollow also prepares a great Margarita!"

  • "What a disappointment. It took forever to place our order. Then it took over ten minutes before waitress returned saying the kitchen was out of one of the entrees. Appetizers were fine but the entrees were awful. My wife's bronzino was disgusting. Ugliest dish I have ever seen. And it tasted bad even after it was sent back and corrected as it was not delivered as ordered. Our guest had a shrimp dish and she had specifically told the waitress she did not eat meat. The dish came with pancetta and our guest became physically ill. To add insult to injury the owner was indifferent to our concerns."

  • "Forget our drinks came individually 15 minutes apart, they forgot water despite being asked TWICE . Our order of calamari was very dark brown yet incredibly "mushy". I puzzled all weekend being in the business myself. The conclusion I came to was it was cooked at too high an oil temperature (burnt) then left sitting under the heat lamp while the lettuce it was upon sweated enough to make the calamari squishy. We all tasted (bad) and asked to return it. It returned 5 min. later even darker and absolutely horrible tasting. I called the waitress over and asked if they had simply re-fried it and she said "Yes, I told them I didn't think that was right." Perhaps the grossest thing I've ever tasted. And the waitress knew yet brought it."

  • "We were hopeful but the food was so so and the bill was 130 with tip for three. Might has well have gone a lot fancier."

  • "The food was great and our 14-year old picky eater loved the choices on the kids menu. There are some tables on the enclosed porch with a relaxed atmosphere. The bar is welcoming and there were interesting local beer choices. This is our third time at Cedar Hollow and all three times were excellent. My husband is a real foodie and he loves this place. Go on Sunday for the buck a shuck oysters!"

  • "The food and service is always consistently excellent at Cedar Hollow, making it a solid choice for either a date night or a business meeting. I would suggest dining in the back room as opposed to the porch if you are planning on private conversation as the acoustics (noise level) are much better inside."

  • "Private corner table on the front porch enabled conversation. Our server, Olivia, was very attentive and pleasant. Menu was broad with nice specials to supplement our choices. Food was carefully prepared, delicious and sized to satisfy our appetites. Loved the baked oysters, lobster ravioli, all seafood entrees. Looking forward to beef next time. Live music from the bar entertained us through dessert. We will return!"

  • "Dinner here for my wife's birthday. Calamari appetizer was nicely spiced but a little crispy for my taste. My wife had the prime rib special (Saturday); very nice. I had the Salmon......a little undersized portion but tasty. Will come back again......like to try some selections from their lite fare menu."

  • "The food was very good. It was noisy on the porch, especially because of one particularly loud party at the next table. The service was indifferent."

  • "Been here many times for lunch- decided to try for dinner. There are things on menu that are always delicious- we tried some new things and were dissapointed. The ribs- really didn't have a great taste. The lobster ravioli was mushy and sauce was not good. Mushroom soup is delicious- sandwhiches are all good. "

  • "Went on a weekday to celebrate my husband's birthday so I am sure it was a lot quieter than than the weekends but we loved this place and plan on going back in the near future. We sat out on the enclosed porch that was very charming. Our service was good and we loved the menu selection. Prices are also good."

  • "Always the last minute, we were lucky to get reservations pretty close to Mother's Day at this very nice restaurant with good food and good service. And everyone was so cute with our 4 yr-old grandson. Thanks to Open Table, we now know about Cedar Hollow Inn and will be coming back soon! Well worth our 35 min drive from Maple Glen which was a breeze with the newer Exit 320 for Phoenixville/Malvern."

  • "Cedar Hollow Inn is a little gem of a restaurant tucked away on Yellow Springs road near Malvern. The food, service, and ambiance are always excellent and moderately priced. The surprising part is how well the sound is managed. Even though the bar area is always bustling, and there always seems to be a large group eating in the dining area, the sound level is never intrusive, allowing for a romantic dinner for two or a business meeting. The wine list is above average for the area, albeit with a moderate markup. I would highly recommend it for either lunch or dinner."

  • "Have eaten hear several times over a period of years. On May 7th, the kitchen had a rough time. Ran out of mashed potatoes at 7:15pm? Substituted complimentary asparagus. Long time between apps and entrees. Server was clueless on menu details. Meal took 2 hours. Diners that came in after us were on dessert while we waited for entrees. Special beef entrée $49? Whose buying that? Special stuffed pork chop was overcooked and extremely dry....cost was credited. A real off night for CHI. Would not turn down a future invite to CHI, but not making a point of going there again for awhile."

  • "Dinner was great. Good value for the quality. Server was pleasant and helpful. Sat on porch during happy hour so it was a little loud but I knew that going in. It quieted in as dinner went along. Would recommend. "

  • "At the last minute we decided to go out for dinner. We went on line to OpenTable to see if we can find a place we hadn't been to before. What a pleasant surprise! It wasn't too crowded, it was a quiet room, and the service and food were excellent. I would definitely recommend it to someone else and we will go there again."

  • "Today at 10:43 AM We requested (via open table) to sit on the popular porch and it was granted. Our server was attentive and professional( but too young to help with wine selections). So far so good, right? And then they brought the food - Superior! The prime rib melted in my grandfathers mouth. My husband said it was the best snapper he ever had, specifically because of the way it was cooked. And there are no words to describe the delicious shellfish (crab and avacodo) dish I orderered for my self. If you have been meaning to try Cedar Hollow and haven't yet, I highly recommend you put it on your "to do" list. And the oysters??? Best in the area! We will be back!"

  • "First time at Cedar Hollow Inn and it was such a pleasant surprise. The Prime Rib was the best I have ever had, and that includes Morton's and Capital Grill. We will definitely return."

  • "Cedar Hollow Inn has fantastic food and atmosphere. I am so lucky to live near such a great place like this and my boyfriend and I enjoy ourselves immensely every time we dine there. I would recommend CHI to everyone that enjoys a nice relaxing atmosphere with delicious food. Service is always top notch. Every time we eat there I request the same table we had our first date and Cedar Hollow always accommodates us and makes the evening even more romantic."

  • "We really enjoyed the food (black bass special, veal osso bocco) wine (Italian red), and our server. The salad was cold and fresh. CHI is a strong neighborhood option. I would like to see a higher quality overall dress code. As it is it's a blue jeans and sweater joint and for me not a special occasion option like an anniversary or birthday dinner. Chef Giuseppe deserves strong kudos and we will definitely visit again ."

  • "We were so pleased with the menu and service on such a busy night. The food was excellent, the timing between courses was perfect, server was professional and live music was great. We were very happy with our choice for the holiday!"

  • "Went for Valentines Day. Overall, it was a good choice, however, I wish their website would have indicated that they were going to have a special menu (as other restaurants did). The prices were higher and the selection was much more limited. Neither my wife nor I ordered what we would have liked. Not sure about the service. I don't think we were being "ignored", and I wouldn't call it spotty, but I would have been nice for our waitress to come around another time or two during the meal. That said, the food was good. Although my wife got the trout and scallops, there was only one scallop on her plate. I'd probably go back, but not for a special occasion."

  • "The taste of both entrees that we got was horrible. For the quality of the food I think it was very over priced. The beer menu was printed incorrectly and the server took several try's to understand what was available. We were never told of the specials which when we overheard them at another table sounded better than the menu. Mushroom soup was only ok, I will never have dinner there again. Bar was very loud so I was glad I was at a table on another room."

  • "We learned of Cedar Hollow through a coupon packet...wow what a find! Tried it on the spur of the moment, and we were more than pleased from start to finish. Spinach salad, grilled scallops, and flourless chocolate cake...all totally awesome. And don't forget those cosmopolitans!!! Can't wait to return!"

  • "The food was too expensive and not very high quality. They also did not give enough food and you had to purchase everything separately, such as fries and sides. It was $3 to get fries instead of chips. We were so hungry afterwards that we went to McDonald's."

  • "A great place to go for a cozy dinner The food is not overpriced and very tasty and the service was great All and All a great experience"

  • "My wife and I picked this spot as it was fairly local and we've eaten here before (and enjoyed it). After making reservations on Open Table, we went to the website to look at the menu. We looked forward to enjoying a good dinner at reasonable prices. When we walked in the door, we were told that the Chef had prepared a "very special menu" for the evening. (Not mentioned on the website!). Loosely translated, the menu prices were marked up $10 to $15. I suppose New Years Eve provides a license to increase prices. I had the Cowboy Steak ($43); my wife the Veal Osso Bucca ($40). Both meals were good...but not worth the prices. Service was also attentive. No complaints at all to the food or the service."

  • "Let me start by saying how great the food was for my recent dinner New Years Eve. While waiting for a table I went to the bar to grab drinks. It was an early dinner so things seemed slow and I literally had no one on either side of me as I waited at the bar for over 5 minutes clearly visible leaning in without being acknowledged by the bar tenders. I’m not a regular at the bar but I’ve been going to the Cedar Hollow for years and this experience really bothered me and put a negative spin on what was otherwise a great dinner. I'm pretty easy going and go out to dinner nearly every weekend so take it for what it's worth but in my mind this type of experience makes the difference between a restaurant being in my regular rotation or not."

  • "First visit and won't be our last. Special NY Eve menu was very pricey ( ave $65/ person). We had a group of 4 and only one round of drinks. Regular menu is much more affordable. The food was excellent and the presentation outstanding. You will not be disappointed."

  • "We took our adult kids to Cedar Hollow Inn for our annual Christmas Celebration. Service was very good...attentive, but not overly bothersome. We had appetizers and entree's... dessert was back at our house. The appetizers were very good and each of our entree's was delicous. Just the right portion size... not too small, but not spilling off the plate. The restaurant was decorated beautfully...very festive for the season. Overall a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely be back."

  • "I loved how the restaurant was off the beaten path in a woods setting. I also enjoyed how they had a bar, yet private dining areas. I took my wife there for her birthday dinner. The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was excellent, even ate the bread bowl. She had gnocchi with a butternut squash sauce and I had the sautéed jumbo scallops with sweet potato slices and asparagus. Before the entrée, she had the house salad and I had a Ceasar salad. The salads were full of lettuce and the entrees had great presentation. For dessert, an orange cranberry cheese torte with vanilla ice cream. Very good! Would recommend this restaurant to someone who likes a restaurant and bar scene. Will be back again to try other dishes!"
