With a "nose-to-tail" sensibility, and a long-term devotion to sustainable and ethical ingredients, Cava maintains it's reputation as a destination restaurant who balances responsibility with a memorable dining experience.

Designed to underscore the elemental relationship between food and wine, the simple, charming room has traditional table seating for 56 as well as a bar; which is designated for walk-ins on a first come first served basis.

Most recent accolades include Cava being ranked in the top 10 on Joanne Kates' Top 100 Restaurants of 2013.

A frequently changing menu offers inventive interpretations of familiar culinary themes with over 40 wines by the glass and over 200 different bottles to enhance the experience.

  • "Cava's menu has lots of new items as well as firm favourites. We decided to try all new except for papas fritas (you have to have them at Cava!). 2 specials of the day were great - cured tuna on frisee and smoke salmon danish-style to celebrate 1st anniversary of King of Denmark pop-up. Tamal with feta and a divine roasted tomato sauce. The mussels looked fabulous and the next table recommended then highly. The chicken liver and foie gras mousse favours fans of chicken liver. We had sherry and cava to start and a great Spanish white wine. Dessert was perfect for summer - rhubard trifle! Service as always was excellent - very helpful!"

  • "We dined at Cava on the weekend with our 8 year old. We had them feed us and I can say it was plentiful. We ended up having about 9 dishes. My favourite was the eggplant for sure. Tapas were great, but I was at Bar Isabel two weeks ago and found it more flavourful. The service was very good. They were also attentive to our son. This is not a cheap place to dine. But then, anything out of the ordinary isn't. Bill was under 300 with 4 drinks. Might return, but I've had more enjoyable experiences at some other fine dining restaurants. But I would say that if you're a foodie type of person, give it a try."

  • "$23 for eight mussles in a bowl, no bread. Warm bubbly, $8 for a slice of bagette with cheese and one fig. Really! Far too precious for words. Went out for dinner after because yes we had spent money but had recieved no food. If you are a dieting fiend and want to go out for dinner then this is the place for you.What did the waiter say... an ascending collection of flavours...something like that...... Please!"

Service was good at the very beginning, but then when there was a second guy came complete our order, he kept trying to convince us to order two of each of appetizers while we only wanted to order one to of each to share so we can try more types. And then at the end he never came to collect our finished dished even he has passed by our table for so many times. Normally any other restaurants would have taken away the dishes and offer the desserts menu. But that guy didn't do any of those until I was really upset that I decided to skip the dessert and call for the bill then he gave us the bill. I was quite happy about the food and was craving for a dessert bit at the end it turned out to be not a pleasant dining experience."

  • "My wife and I enjoy our date nights. It has to include good food, fine drink, and a healthy dose of time well spent. We have Cava on our regular rotation, and it always delivers a great night out. Dinner reservations at 9, meant walking into a lively dinning environment. A couple of Cavas to get the appetite going, and then slowly making our way through the menu, with a few old favourites, and a few recently added, to keep things exciting. Service is always friendly, attentive, and paced for enjoyment. We consider Cava to be our neighborhood gem, its a must for anyone uptown, and well worth the adventure, for any urbanite. Enjoy! Try: EGGPLANT, SUPERGILDA, OCTOPUS AND NEW POTATO SALAD , well, everything really, but save some for next time!"

  • "Everything is well done. We were warmly greated and shown to our table. We were never rushed (despite the restaurant filling up at the end of our meal). We were allowed to relax over a cocktail and then the menu was explained to us. The waiter ensured we didn't over-order (everything looked so good). The meal was excellent with each dish complimenting the next. The pacing of each dish was just right. Excellent choice of wines by the glass. A wonderful experience."

  • "I had no idea about this type of cuisine - I love fish and most kinds of food..but everything I tasted here was BEYOND better....this is not expensive for such high quality food..and suprisingly.....filling! You think you can go on ordering and eating as it is so tastey.....but suddently you hit the wall and realize STOP.....it was encroyable, vraiment. Very romantic spot for my b.f's birthday meal."

Joined another couple for dinner. 9 creative Tapas dishes ordered (highlights included cerviche, eggplant, sable fish and Brussels sprouts - which says a lot because I am not usually a fan), a bottle of wine, shared a plate of churros, and some tea - all for $250 before tip.   • "The Jambon Imberico is one of the most fantastic things I've ever tasted in my life. Definitely worth going to the restaurant for that alone. However, our server was impeccable, he didn't make us feel out of place at all (even though we were), and was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as wines. Ever dish that came out of the kitchen was a feast for the eyes, and was invariably creative. A lot of care is obviously paid by he chefs in choosing ingredients that compliment each other in such interesting ways. Love the inclusion of local where possible, and the attention to sustainability as well as the use of products in a "nose-to-tail" fashion. Will definitely be returning again, and again, and again. "

  • "My family and I went to Cava to celebrate my birthday and we had an overall fantastic time! Our server was amazing; he was friendly, helpful and did an incredible job in 'veganizing' dishes for my brothers girlfriend! The food was absolutely delicious. We let them "cook for us" which was a great choice as the food pairings were excellent and the flow/timing of the food was perfect. This was my second visit to Cava and I'll be sure to return again! What a great hidden gem in midtown :) "

  • "Cava continues to serve great food and wine with excellent service. Sablefish (black cod) is sublime. New white asparagus dish is fabulous. Favourites such as the eggplant dish and papas fritas continue to delight and Cava's the only place to go for Iberian ham. Wine list is extensive with a great selection of Sherries (NOT your grandmother's Bristol Cream!)."

  • "Cava maybe the best tapas resto I have been to in Toronto! Everything we ordered was excellent. The sablefish with black rice, the oxtail stew, and the squid were especially good. We also enjoyed the Spanish wine. It's too bad that they ran out of the baked alaska. But the churros and souffle were excellent desserts! The decor is a bit lacklustre. However, I will go back to try more tapas. "

  • "Not one thing we ordered was particularly tasty. The combination of flavours just didn't go together well. Furthermore they were tiny! We were four girls told to order ten dishes of which we did. Each of us could've had another few plates and dessert. Only decent dish was the duck. Not cheap either we each spent 40 bucks without wine and dessert and left hungry. Would not recommend whatsoever. "

We also had a super great Spanish wine from a list that includes many reasonably priced options. Standouts include mackeral ceviche and brandade stuffed mini peppers as well as the 48 hour brisket."

  • "I had been to Cava in the first year or two of its opening and I loved it then. This last time was very disappointing. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask for things twice and sometimes three times. We tried to order a second bottle of wine, but it took so long, that by the time we were going to ask a third time, all our food was almost done, so we told them not to bother The food was fine but it lacked the interesting flavour that I expected - it seemed a bit tired. With so much competition now in tapas in Toronto, Cava is going to have to step up its game or significantly lower its prices. "

  • "Small yet surprisingly not loud. Food and service was excellent! The staff very knowledgeable. Gets expensive because the dishes add up, but all tasty and worth it for special occasions. The 2.25 hour minimum might be a problem for group of four. We were there 3 hours by the time we ate and that was without coffee!"

  • "Went there with 2 friends and they asked of we would like to choose from the menu or have the chef cook for us. They took into account allergies and food issues, and we threw caution to the wind and had the chef make the call. The food oh the food! So yummy! The knowledgable wine pairings with certain courses, spot on! You won't be disappointed! We will be back!"

  • "The food here is really very good. The best tapas restaurant I have ever been to. Delectable menu with a good selection of vegetable, seafood and a few meats. Not hard at all to feel replete after a meal. It is a smaller restaurant but well laid out. A bit stark (modern) in its decor but not necessarily cold as the there are lots or reds and oranges to warm up the concrete. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu, the flavours and you get the sense that they love the food themselves. Pricing appears to be fair, but it really isn't hard to ring up a big bill. Two of us had 2 glasses of wine each, shared 5 tapas and a dessert and it was $200. "

  • "They had music playing when the noise level was already loud. We had to be asked to be moved away from the speakers. The restaurant is small and the tables are placed closely together. We measured the noise level and it was 85 dB (A scale) which can cause hearing loss with continued exposure. Food was great, very innovative and delicious ,creative and service was attentive but if you're over 60 it's not a good place for a meal with friends."

  • "I requested a quiet table and we were seated at, what we believe to be, the quietest table in a noisy restaurant; worked very well for us. Chris McDonald was sitting at the bar directly beside us came to our table and kindly and patiently explained many of the items on the menu. In the end, we chose "let us cook for you" and we were not disappointed. The last time we were at Cava, the different dishes came out fast and furious, too quickly to enjoy each one individually. This time, I asked that the meal be paced more slowly. While Chris was in the restaurant, that was the case. When he left, the dishes started arriving 3 at a time. Again, I requested that the meal be slowed down and it was. But I should not have needed to ask a second time."

  • "Stepping into Cava, you leave the hum drum walkway of the mall and enter a chic dining space. I was welcomed efficiently and our order taken in a timely manner. The wine was perfectly chilled but then we waited and waited and waited for the food. We got the 1st morsel 50 minutes after we were seated and this influenced our experience. Things improved after we complained and a discount was applied to our bill. The Brussels sprouts were delicious as was artichoke and mushroom salad. The beet and kale salad at the next table looked amazing and I'll try that next time."
