CavaMany delicious bites. No 'main' courses means that this excellent restaurant's dinner style is dim sum-esque. Not that the food is anything similar but you order many small appetizers all of excellent quality. Really recommend the octopus; so tasty!!!
It'll set you back a bit, but it sure was fun eating there.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding efforts by staffOutstanding efforts by staff on my shortcomings...I had booked this inadvertantly for last Thursday night and showed up 24 hrs later, with a very short wait they squeezed me in (party of 4). Our female server who has been there many years, (I don't recall her name) as always was a pleasure to be with. We did for the first time the tasting menu about 8 courses, memorable was the beet salad, the venison, the flatiron steak, and according to our dining partners the Baked Alaska. Definitely still has the "Edge" after all of those years.7/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Great Cava mealVisited CAVA.on Wednesday June 12th. My dad was visiting from out of town and he loves great food. I have eaten at CAVA several times and feel that it is perhaps one of a few true gems in Toronto.
As per usual...we mentioned a few of our fav menu items and let them fill in the dinner.
ALL the food was outstanding......but if we were to choose a few to mention...the Sweetbreads..the grilled sardines and the Eggplant were the tops.
I find the service at CAVA a touch rushed......Tapas is a series of "courses"....I feel that a bit more attention could be given to pacing the presentation of the next dish.....One can eat at any pace....but the quick arrivals is seems to change the mood of the meal.
All in All.....still my #1 spot for great food.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCava = sharing/pincho = amazingThe meal: We asked for the kitchen to cook for us at their discretion, and they amazed us. A range of pinchos and sharing plates, capped off with a couple of entree sized items, scallops followed by pork brisket. Fantastic.
Drink: Sangria, reminded us of trips to Spain. Quenching, both sweet and dry.
Dessert: Churros and chocolate. Pretty good, a little heavier than we were used to, but satisfying.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little restaurant!I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we both loved it! It was our first time going to this restaurant. We are not familiar with Spanish food but our waitress was extremely helpful in explaining the dishes. Each small dish served was delicious and well presented.the restaurant is small but cozy. The service was inmpeccable! We would definitely visit again and recommend it to our friends.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfully eclecticWe were not familiar with the tapas menu and just asked the waiter to choose for us. What a delicious array of taste sensations. Every single item he chose from the Japanese eggplant, to sweetbreads (which I wold never have ordered) to foie gras, sardines, sablefish, venison to churros con chocolate were fabulous. Service was attentive given how hopping the place was. Will definitely go back and recommend it to friends.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMfit to dineexcellent service matches delicious, exquisitely prepared dishes to waken your tastebuds. The dishes are tapas style but surprisingly filling and most definitely satisfying!
great spanish wine selection too.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGave compliments to the chefGave compliments to the chef waiters were excellent, need to be willing to spend over 100 to enjoy the menu. Plan to re-visit soon.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWill return for MORE!The best Spanish tapas restaurant I've ever been to! Great ambiance, friendly service and extensive selection of wine. Big flavour on each bite. We really enjoy the forty eight hour marinated beef brisket with white puree (the puree is to die for!), duck magret and the kingfish ceviche.
One thing I don't like, I know it's tapas, but I wish there's more food on the plate.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner!Second time at the restaurant and really loved the variety of food and the service. Will go back again for sure. My favourite is the Beet Salad!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe let the restaurant chooseWe let the restaurant choose our food and it was great--an excellent variety and all very good. They were even able to accommodate two opposing tastes in one dish. The waiter was excellent--knowledgeable, professional and personable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! Fun atmosphereI was in town for work and popped into Cava when I saw how well it was reviewed. Some of the food options were a little daring (avocado with caviar?) but I appreciated the creativity. Most of the 5 tapas I tried were wonderful. Would definitely return when I'm back in Toronto.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience. We really enjoyed this restaurant. Food was excellent and service was great. I have no complaints and will definitely go back.1/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
