I think of Cava as providing a "build-your-own" tasting menu: small, tapas-style portions that are great for two or three to taste. So dinner can be nice and light, or you can really make a meal of it. And the flavours? Oh, my! Foodies of the world, unite!

I hadn't been back to Cava for a few years as the last time we were there, it was a little disappointing. Not the food (that is always consistently excellent), but the ambience. It's kind of an odd spot to begin with and it was almost completely empty. It must have just been an off night, because this time it was back to its vibrant self. The service was top notch: very knowledgeable, but not condescending. Our waiter even gave us a couple of tasters of sherry (unsolicited) after we expressed an interest in the different types. The food is really what keeps us coming back though. Interesting combinations of flavours (the foie gras was crazy good) and perfect execution. Great, affordable wine list. We'll be back a lot sooner now!

I really like this restaurant and have been there many times. This latest visit found the food to be okay, but not great and the sirloin arrived after a 25 min wait and was lukewarm. And that dish for $60! I think the prices have gone over the top and the quality of the food has not followed.

Cava is a very nice small restaurant specializing in Spanish tapas. They have a very good menu that is never static and, as a result, always interesting. The service is very consistent and thoughtful. Menu highlights include foie gras with rhubarb relish, grilled peppers, serrano ham, and grilled sardines. There is enough variety in the menu to please everyone.

Food still very good, although heavier than I remembered. The Riojas are very good, albeit at a price. After some rounds of tapas, we ordered a cheese plate, and it took almost 30 minutes to arrive. It was delicious, with quince jelly etc., but it cannot have taken more than 2 minutes to plate. Instead of an apology, we got stories on how the chef was so busy. By that time, our bottle was finished so the wine-and-cheese idea fell through. The waiter clearly saw this, but must have been thinking: not my problem. Hmmm. Will pass on this place for a while.

Great service until a large party of 8 was sat next to us and after we advised our waiter that one dish was too salty to be eaten. We were ignored the rest of the evening. Food was fair and I would not recommend CAVA. Not sure how it got in the Top 10.

Booked a table for 4 on Sunday, $15 corkage so brought a bottle of my better wines. Service was very attentitive but not pushy. Water and wine glasses were always filled. Empty plates cleared promptly. One waiter was not too familiar with the menu but he went to find out from the Chef. Tapas very tasty, portions were quite small and quite expensive. Waiter was very good in pointing out that we do not have to order too much so he was not upselling. As I said the service was good. We were there at 6 and it was quite cozy, and then the restaurant starts filling up by 7:30 noise level was quite high. That made conversation a bit difficult. I could put up with the price of food, but the noise level really damper the dining experience.

Cava serves tapas style menu. Many interesting food items such as sweetbread. The eggplant and sablefish were delicious! Service was excellent. Since the food is served tapas size, the price seems a bit high for the size being served, but food quality is good. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time.

We dined at Cava on the weekend with our 8 year old. We had them feed us and I can say it was plentiful. We ended up having about 9 dishes. My favourite was the eggplant for sure. Tapas were great, but I was at Bar Isabel two weeks ago and found it more flavourful. The service was very good. They were also attentive to our son. This is not a cheap place to dine. But then, anything out of the ordinary isn't. Bill was under 300 with 4 drinks. Might return, but I've had more enjoyable experiences at some other fine dining restaurants. But I would say that if you're a foodie type of person, give it a try.

Cava's menu has lots of new items as well as firm favourites. We decided to try all new except for papas fritas (you have to have them at Cava!). 2 specials of the day were great - cured tuna on frisee and smoke salmon danish-style to celebrate 1st anniversary of King of Denmark pop-up. Tamal with feta and a divine roasted tomato sauce. The mussels looked fabulous and the next table recommended then highly. The chicken liver and foie gras mousse favours fans of chicken liver. We had sherry and cava to start and a great Spanish white wine. Dessert was perfect for summer - rhubard trifle! Service as always was excellent - very helpful!

Went out for dinner after because yes we had spent money but had recieved no food. Food was good. Service was good at the very beginning, but then when there was a second guy came complete our order, he kept trying to convince us to order two of each of appetizers while we only wanted to order one to of each to share so we can try more types. And then at the end he never came to collect our finished dished even he has passed by our table for so many times. Normally any other restaurants would have taken away the dishes and offer the desserts menu. But that guy didn't do any of those until I was really upset that I decided to skip the dessert and call for the bill then he gave us the bill. I was quite happy about the food and was craving for a dessert bit at the end it turned out to be not a pleasant dining experience.

My wife and I enjoy our date nights. It has to include good food, fine drink, and a healthy dose of time well spent. We have Cava on our regular rotation, and it always delivers a great night out. Dinner reservations at 9, meant walking into a lively dinning environment. A couple of Cavas to get the appetite going, and then slowly making our way through the menu, with a few old favourites, and a few recently added, to keep things exciting. Service is always friendly, attentive, and paced for enjoyment. We consider Cava to be our neighborhood gem, its a must for anyone uptown, and well worth the adventure, for any urbanite. Enjoy! Try: EGGPLANT, SUPERGILDA, OCTOPUS AND NEW POTATO SALAD , well, everything really, but save some for next time!

Everything is well done. We were warmly greated and shown to our table. We were never rushed (despite the restaurant filling up at the end of our meal). We were allowed to relax over a cocktail and then the menu was explained to us. The waiter ensured we didn't over-order (everything looked so good). The meal was excellent with each dish complimenting the next. The pacing of each dish was just right. Excellent choice of wines by the glass. A wonderful experience.

Cava maybe the best tapas resto I have been to in Toronto! Everything we ordered was excellent. The sablefish with black rice, the oxtail stew, and the squid were especially good. We also enjoyed the Spanish wine. It's too bad that they ran out of the baked alaska. But the churros and souffle were excellent desserts! The decor is a bit lacklustre. The Jambon Imberico is one of the most fantastic things I've ever tasted in my life. Definitely worth going to the restaurant for that alone. However, our server was impeccable, he didn't make us feel out of place at all (even though we were), and was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as wines. Ever dish that came out of the kitchen was a feast for the eyes, and was invariably creative. A lot of care is obviously paid by he chefs in choosing ingredients that compliment each other in such interesting ways. Love the inclusion of local where possible, and the attention to sustainability as well as the use of products in a "nose-to-tail" fashion. Will definitely be returning again, and again, and again.
