Cava Mezze - DCNever Disappoints!I've dined at this location several times for special occassions including my birthday. This visit was was in honor of Mother's Day. She enjoyed everything! There's nothing I don't like. Red sangria is great. I don't care for the white sangria. The only reason the restaurant doesn't get 5 stars is that the restaurant is loud. A girlfriend and myself went in for Saturday Brunch to meet a decent noise level considering the day/time and an eclectic crowd of hipsters, young families, guy groups, etc. We enjoyed sharing watermelon salad (So Refreshing!), zucchini fritters (OMG!), french toast (AMAZING & ADDICTIVE!), mini gyros (GOOD!-stuffed with frites), and lamb hash (Great Zing!). The Sangria is a fresh compliment too! Only one not so great note, the falafel fritters left much to be desired. I'll definitely be back! After less consistent quality of food and service over the last year and a half, Cava kitchen, bar and wait staff blew us away and our out-of-town guests. Lamb chops, lamb and beef meatballs, and octopus were fantastic, and the roasted brussel sprouts were some of the best we've had. Since I'm Greek, and I love to cook, I can safely attest to the quality and phenomenal taste of all the Mezze we have tried when we went there. From the flamboyant Saganaki (in flames), to the mouth-watering skewed chicken to the hummus and keftedes, the lemony Avgolemono soup, the succulent octopus & Fennel, the mini chicken gyros, the exceptional beet salad and the wine.. Everything was cooked to perfection-salmon, meatballs, chickpea fritters. The drinks were fantastic-the mojito had so much fresh lime juice, I was in heaven and the sangria was also great.
