CaterinaCan't wait to see what's nextIt was our first time at the restaurant. It was also to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The reviews were not encouraging in the beginning but the latest reviews led us to make the reservation and see what was there. We have a weakness for French cuisine. The food and service were outstanding. Piper always had a smile, Owen kept our water glasses full, and Matt (the Manager) was very good in discussing the dining options. The salmon in phyllo dough was outstanding. The pork belly entree was very good. We can't wait until Caterina is open for lunch and there is dining on the patio. The existing restaurant space is a bit funky and sparse. Notwithstanding the concerns with the interior, go for the food and the service.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional restaurant!Took my lady to this spot upon a recommendation of a friend. We were warmly greeted by the staff and the beautiful decor. Menu was simple and very fairly priced! Service was polished and unpretentious. When the food started coming to the table it not only looked very beautifully put together, but it tasted the part as well. The chef even made an apperance table side just to say hello and humbly asked if we were enjoying the experience. Balanced flavors, beautiful presentations, great service, and SOO reasonably priced; how could we NOT have been enjoying the experience?! Last thing, DO NOT jugde this place based on its affiliated restaurants, for in my opinion they are greatly overshadowed by this little gem here in Sugar House!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Caterina last nightWent to Caterina last night 5-11-13 to try their new menu and it was AMAZING. Everything we tried was delicious. The manager and wait staff were very friendly and courteous and we had the chef at our table multiple times throughout dinner checking on us and our meals. I would recommend Caterina to anyone who is looking for a low key restaurant with great food and service.
p.s. Ask for Chris or Matt (chefs) and they will make sure you are taken care of.
p.p.s. Make sure to get the pork belly, it is ridiculously good.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCaterina truly impressed meBeing very familiar with the SLC food scene it’s hard for a chef and restaurant to surprise and impress me. But Chef Jean Louis and Caterina truly impressed me. My only regret is not having visited sooner. My wife and I had a wonderful time and loved the food. We also sincerely enjoyed that it was quiet enough to have a lengthy conversation without speaking loudly or interruption. (rare theses days) It was a pleasure to have the chef personally come out and speak with us and share some of his life stories. A wonderfully memorable and very enjoyable evening. We will be returning often.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCaterina is a new gem in SugarhouseWe came to Caterina to celebrate our 31st anniversary. This is a new restaurant, opened in January 2013. Excellent food, attentive service. The chef came out to greet us, and was a very friendly gentleman. All the staff were quite helpful. All courses are a la carte, which is to be expected in this context. Prices were reasonable, particularly for the quality and presentation offered. The wine list is a bit short, but I prefer this sort of list to the telephone-directory size wine lists other places provide. Dessrt list was also short, but covered the bases of fruits, creme brulee, chocolate cake, and ice cream.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went with a group of 6.We went with a group of 6. All of us enjoyed the food. Soups and salads were great and all of the entrees were extremely delicious.
The servers were very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. All in all it was a delightful experience. Would not hesitate to recommend
to everyone interested in good food and service.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI think Caterina is, withoutI think Caterina is, without any doubts, the best French restaurant in town. The food is delicious and well presented. I believe the price is right and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and you may even get a visit from the Chef while you dine. The restaurant is in the (renovated) historic Sugarhouse Station Post Office. It's got a 1930's feel to it, and is really nice and spacious inside.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
