  • "I made reservation for a REALLY CLOSE FRIEND of mine and her husband as AN ANNIVERSRY gift. Upon there arrival they were put in a table that was against a wall and very unstable.. Their waiter did not bring bread to the table, handed not placed on the table my friend her glass of wine and completly forgot her husbands drink. FOOD was poor quality and over cooked and bad. they both has fish dish. they were not checked on at all and not offered any dessert, and none of the dishes were explained to them . I am completly appauled by this service"

  • "It was an overall very delicious and good food experience. Staff was quite attentive to us. The restaurant and outdoor surroundings are very appealing. If I'm in the area, I will definitely return and perhaps try one of the other restaurants."

  • "We enjoyed our whole evening at your restaurant...From Soup to Nuts as the Italian expression goes...The Fish entrees were excellent, and I very much enjoyed my basil/cherry tomato pasta dish! We ordered all of the desserts & shared... they were all delicious!!! And it was nice to have a few Italian cookies to try...a nice touch! I was impressed that even my coffee cup had been warmed, and the coffee delicious! My Brother & his wife & daughter are use to fine dining...And they were completely impressed & satisfied!"

  • "It is such a treat to dine at the CIA restaurants. Every food I tasted has such a "kicked up" flavor. I don't mean extra spicy or exaggerated flavors....rather, the flavors are clearly the best that a food can offer and the chefs can take simple foods over the top. Tomatoes taste like one imagines....olive oils are superb; vinegar and oil combinations are perfectly balanced; entrees are appropriately delicate or strong in flavor; the plate always looks pretty as a picture; each restaurant has a personality that seems to capture its name (Italian, French, American). The waitstaff is worth the visit in itself....charming, interesting, international personalities with clear food experience to help guide ordering."

  • "Very attentive service, including specially made bread for one of our party of four with dietary restrictions. Food was carefully prepared and beautifully presented. A very special place we will not forget."

  • "While the food was delicious,we found the prices high for what was received. Each salad was $7-8 dollars and entrees were $20-24. Portions were adequate but each plate included the main item with only a tiny amount of listed accompaniment."

  • "Our dinner was very good, but the price I think was a little high. For the 6 of us it cost over 400 dollars. We had 3 appetizers, main meal, 6 desserts, 2 bottles of wine $32 each,2 cups of coffee, and one Irish coffee, 3 drinks. I would think the prices would be lower since these are students learning and this is their class.I think you would get more diners if the prices were more reasonable, especially in this economy. Also a 17% tip is automatically added which I think is too high since the students only benefit from it if they graduate and were lucky enough to get financial aid."

  • "I drove 90 minutes to eat here and I want to go again soon. The food was delicious, the service was generous and the ambiance was lovely."

  • "The food was good, however our waiter did not describe any of the dishes on the menu and didn't really know how the meals were prepared. Several times he had to go back to the kitchen to find out how the food was being prepared. The waiter at the table next to us described to his guests the different menu choices and how things worked, we had to coax the answers from our waiter. I believe there was some mix-ups with the wait staff, as the lead waiter had to pour more water for us and was more attentive then our assigned waiter."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful time the other night while seated at the Honeymoon Table, even though we have been together for over 30 years! The food, service and attentiveness by all of the soon to be curators of the culinary world was magnificent. I had the perfectly prepared strip steak and my husband a lamb dish. Sorbet and Tiramasu topped it off! It was also very enjoyable talking to the students about the school, and their hopes for the future. It was a great evening out, and will be well remembered! This is a "must" for anyone living or visiting the Poughkeepsie area!"

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant. The wait staff was very professional and very helpful. I had a vegetarian dish that was delicious. I could taste the individual items and herbs but also the blend of all of the flavors. My friends had salmon and said it was prepared perfectly. I have already recommended this restaurant to others who may travel to CIA."

  • "From manager (Mr. G) to a terrific waiter (who found time to take me to the kitchen's edge for a look), a wonderful experience. Oh ... the food was good, but I expected that."

  • "Ordered seafood salad with grapefruit sauce. Shrimp abd octopus were cooked very well but again bland. We didn't receive bread which I was really looking forward to tasting. Had lamb for entree. The tomato sauce was an excellent combo with the leg of lamb. I had 3 pieces of carrot on my plate. One of which is barely cooked as in I cant cut it with a knife withou making myself looking like a fool."

  • "Was surprised that there weren't more Italian dishes on the menu. Service was a little spotty in the beginning because they kept shifting servers, but after that settled down it was excellent."

  • "This was our first visit to the restaurant and we found the food and wait staff exceptional. A great experience and one we would like to do again. We also learned a lot about the Culinary Institute and its program which was nice to hear while having lunch! Everyone was so friendly."

  • "Lunch for three in an elegant and comfortable setting. The menu was of fresh summertime ingredients and perfect portions for four courses followed by light desserts. Because the Culinary is a school, no tips allowed for the most-excellent server Caitlyn, whose warm and genuine personality survived the back-of-the-house training, and the Italian wine professor, whose conversation was entertaining and knowledgeable. Some of the food is supplied by gardens you can wander. An A+."

  • "After attending my daughter's graduation at CIA earlier in the day we thought we would have lunch at Caterina de Medici to celebrate. We were offered an incredible array of appetizers and desserts at the reception following graduation so dining so soon afterwards wasn't the best idea. Although it was Day 1 for the students attending us, they served us well. The food was excellent as has been in the past, our appetites weren't ravenous enough to fully appreciate the experience. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will return to dine again."

  • "This was our first time at CIA and we will certainly be coming back. Food was great, students working the floor, really trying hard, made it even better. Management stopped by to chat and bring us more bread. Loved that our server gave us info on the school and his classes. We headed over to Apple Pie for dessert which was awesome!"

  • "A very beautiful dining experience we had from the hostess to the servers in all areas of table service. Each was polite, professional and helpful in explaining menu item questions without hesitation. The only issue I would raise was the casualness of the dress of the guests. To me, the evening was a special event and I was looking forward to an elegant evening at the CIA. I was a bit disappointed but perhaps my expectations were higher with regard to what guests would wear. I did go back and re-read the restaurant description and it clearly states no dress code.....but to see people in shorts, flip flops, and jeans was not quite was I was expecting. Casual attire is just my personal bug-a-boo."

  • "3rd time to the CIA, first 2 were exceptional. The food was good and may have been better if waiter knew what was in the dishes we ordered. He had no knowledge of the way the food was being prepared, and even had trouble opening the wine. He was very unattentive. This was a big surprise, considering it was the CAI. Other waiters seemed attentive, we had one that didn't seem to be interested in being there."

  • "We visited this restaurant to celebrate my son's HS graduation. We were seated a round table in a corner which was great for our party of six. The service was excellent and the wait staff very knowledgeable regarding the menu. Everyone enjoyed their dishes except for the steak which was undercooked and a little tough (a bit of a disappointment but still very good). The atmosphere is very nice. This was my second visit to this restaurant and I would definitely return again and recommend to others."

  • "After a great day visiting Hyde Park Historic homes and a boat trip on the Hudson we had a wonderful end to the day dining at the CIA. Great ambiance made it feel like we were in a villa in Italy. Loved the energy of the students/waiters and staff. The Risotto was wonderful as was the Parma with mozzarella appetizer: that melted in your mouth. We had an early reservation which was nice because the restaurant was not that full. We walked the campus a bit before departing and it is a stunning place. Wish we lived closer so we could go there more frequently."

  • " The CIA was the place 4 cousins ( we brought our husbands) decided to meet to have a great meal together instead of cooking ourselves. Well, we weren't disappointed. We sampled each others food and determined the winner of each course. For us the seafood salad was a winner along with the carpaccio. Gnocchi and risotti tied in the first course with thier oustanding flavor. Now the main course entries were hard because we each loved the type of meat we got, the lamb was flavorful as well as the rabbit, the beef was tender and juicy as well and the eggplant ravioli was excellent with its sauce. The dessert, and wine just made it better. Our server Jake, made sure we all enjoyed our visit. We are sure to return."

  • "The food and service was phenominal! Mr. G. and his staff paid special attention to the customers, we never had to ask for anything and never felt rushed. The front of the house and the back of the house compliment one another to produce great food and service. They have such a passion for what they do which really shows! More important than good food is good service. It all starts with the front of the house!"
