Diner Reviews
  • "We made a 5:30 reservation and had the place to ourselves for about 30 min. By the time we left it was packed! Great, friendly service with excellent menu advice. And the food was fabulous!"

  • "We had a great time. Met some cute girls. Food was excellent as always. the upstairs lounge crowd is sometimes a little bit older then I like. Compared to the VIP room which has a younger more energetic crowd. But I guess if you guys are going for the older more chill lounge crowd things are good."

  • "Best lobster we have ever had! The steak was unbelievable and the starters were awesome 10/10!"

  • "Second time eating at this restaurant at a more "family dining hour" (first time was bustling late-night weekend with hip crowd) Both times food was great and service good. Nice cross section of dishes on menu: love the sharing plates, especially cold rolls."

  • "We came here for a 9pm dinner on Saturday and have an overall great experience. Food was great, we skipped the appetizer and went with a lot of small plates and all were very enjoyable."

  • "This restaurant is for the under 30 crowd. So noisy that we couldn't hear the people next to us. Very pricey considering the portion size. Overall an unpleasant experience."

  • "Great food and ambience. Service left much to be desired, though. Drinks went unfilled for too long and the waiter showed little interest in our table."

  • "Every item we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the scallops and cauliflower dish."

  • "I always go for the sushi rolls. We ate upstairs on the roof and although it was a limited menu it had great choices."

  • "Amazing food. A little too noisy. Great service. Nice decor"

  • "Too expensive. Not worth value for money. USD 4 per oyster ? That sets the level"

  • "The fish was extremely dry. The portions were very small. The tables were too close together causing my husband to either get up or get nudged each time the party next to us was served. The server apologized explaining that he could not reach the table. They presented the check with dessert before we even thought about asking for it."

  • "This is a nice establishment if you happen to be in the area and are in the mood for seafood. We ordered raw oysters and tartare trio for appetizers. Oysters were quite fresh but tartare wasn't so. I could tell they tried to mimick Morimotos toro tartare but fell way short. Rest of the food overall was good. Our waiter looked like he was having a bad day. Couldn't get him to smile once. That said, the rest of the wait staff was fantastic and very prompt to remove dishes when warranted. Not a bad experience but nothing too impressive either. Probably won't return. There are too many great restaurants in NYC to try before going back here."

  • "I had read about Catch on a recent blog. The atmosphere was lovely. Service was quick, friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and the waiter was very helpful in helping me decide on what to order and explaining the menu. This is a great restaurant for anyone wanting to have a great dining experience."

  • "We were quite shocked at how poor the service was.The waiter staff was changed in the middle of our meal & we found it quite tacky when the waiter had to shout out " who gets the snapper " etc etc. I complained to the manager who was appoligetic but the service did not change. Even when the same waiter took the coffee orders, no one knew who get what. It even took 10 minutes to get cream for the coffee. I will not be going back even though the manager sent over dessert at the end."

  • "I went to Lobster De Mayo and sampled the Mac n Cheese there . . . thankfully took a card for Catch. It was delicious. the Rooftop Terrace is really nice too . . . pre-dinner drinks. My friends had the snapper, which was delicious and we finished it up with Banana dessert, which was Banana Creme Brulee, Banana Bread pudding . . . and something else with bananas. It was fabulous!!! Can't wait to go back."

  • "This was an excellent dinner spot in the meatpacking district, and it really wasn't awfully expensive. We first got the Catch Roll, which was exceptional. Then we split 2 dishes, the lobster mac and cheese and the truffle scallop gnocchi, both very good. The drinks were great and we also got oyster shooters, which were fantastic as well! Overall, very good dining experience and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good seafood."

  • "Love it at Catch. Our third time here and with all the eateries in NY, it's interesting, fun and a great place to share plates. Catch celebrated Gay Pride with a Rainbow Roll which was fun, delicious and we are pleased we tried it. Our server, Benjamin, could not have been more accomodating so it truly enhanced our meal."

  • "it was basically great though expensive ( what I knew, because I was there already). But the service was a kind of uninterested, giving us the feeling, they do not need us to come back, because they are a hot spot anyway."

  • "I had been to Catch twice for work dinners & was always impressed by the food so I chose it for a birthday dinner. The roof is open so I was excited to eat outside. It was pretty warm out & they served room temperature water - I would think they could add ice, at least in the summer. Overall the food was great. My one complaint is the muscles came with 2 pieces of bread and one was incredibly saturated in oil & almost inedible. Our waitress was very nice & I asked her at the beginning to please add a candle if we ordered dessert. We ended up not ordering any because we were very full, but she brought it anyway. While this was a really nice gesture I don't think it was appropriate to put a $12 dessert on the bill that we didn't order."

  • "Food is always good at this meatpacking hot spot. The martini was excellent. Think they need to improve the service. Out server was not up to what one would expect in a rest like this."

  • "N.G. no atmosphere, no view, cigar smoke on roof, noisy, hostesses bordering on rude, slow and inconsistent service. would not recommend or go back...."

  • "We went on a Tuesday night. The noise level was quite high. I imagine that it might be hard to have a conversation on a busier weekend night. The food was delicious with an interesting and different menu. The prices were quite high. The atmosphere is very trendy and a bit too cool for school, but as the food was so good (lobster mashed potatoes!), it's worth it..."

  • "Second visit in the last month. Food again was excellent, but last time the people we had dinner with went to the manager and boldly complained about our server, and just my luck he was my waiter again this time. He just has an attitude that really takes all the charm out of a charming place. I don't think I'll be back."

  • "The food was great. The scene was good. The service was great. Must do on the menu: lobster mac and cheese, catch roll. The pretzel bread was amazing!!!! Also, its definitely loud so be prepared!"

  • "Don't let the hostess stick you on the second level completely different vibe and service. My first experience at Catch was great - food and service, sat on the main floor and had a great night and ambience. My most recent visit I got stuck with a table on the second floor directly under an air vent. We asked to move and they accommodated, however during the move they took away our menus so we sat at the new table for ten minutes twiddling our thumbs until the new server acknowledged us. We had to flag him down to order a second bottle of wine, the bottle didn't come for another 15 minutes! Seems like they train new servers on the 2nd level...horribly disappointing experience for what was supposed to be an impressive NYC dinner."

  • "great dining area very crowded in the lounge and terrace, not the best place to dance."

  • "It's our favorite and we return every year for our anniversary. The tools are always incredible and we loved our entrees, although we'd suggest skipping dessert - it's not bad just doesn't live up to the rest of the meal."

  • "Just didn't get my meal correct and I didn't want to make a fuss and send it back. Sad I was hungry and wasn't able to enjoy my meal. That being said the food was nice looking and if you don't have any special requests I think you will be very pleased. Exceptional quality of fish."

  • "Our girls trip chose this restaurant on the night we wanted to explore a few places in the Meatpacking area in NY. We were very impressed. The food was outstanding and it was packed. We loved the atmosphere and the food was incredible. Highly recommend for a great seafood dinner in this area."

  • "You pay for the location (meatpacking), and the "scene". Out of the restaurants that I have been that are part of the "scene" this one is considerably more expensive and the food is not that good. Yes, it's ok food, every plate had good taste, but no "wow" factor that is expected with those prices. The service cannot be faulted, it was excelent, and the coctails were pretty good. That being said, I won't go back for dinner. Again, if you're looking for apps and drinks and a good scene, this is a good spot. Just don't expect to get incredible food and expect to pay more than average."

  • "First let me start by saying the food is good and the ambience is perfect for celebrations or a pre-show dinner. However, we made reservations for 5:00 on a Saturday not realizing that the restaurant level did not open until 5. When we stepped off of the elevator, the hostess tells us that the Maitre D had not arrived and the staff is still in a meeting and points us in the direction of the bar. Note the entire room is empty. About 15 minutes later the hostess offered us at a temporary table while we waited. We chose to stay at the bar until everything was sorted out. Finally at close to 5:30, we were taken up to the 3rd floor and seated. Perhaps Catch should not accept reservations until after 5:30pm."
