A word from Catch
Located firmly within San Francisco's Castro district, 2362 Market Street is steeped in city history. Here, Catch makes its mark in a storefront registered as an official city landmark that originally housed the burgeoning NAMES Project, which famously organized the creation of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The history remains with the building, but Catch aims to create a new legacy while honoring the spirit of creativity and expression rooted in its surroundings.

To foster this spirit, the chefs rotate their menus regularly, accommodating seasonal produce and fresh catches of local, sustainably sourced seafood. Each dish showcases these ingredients while incorporating Mediterranean influences and minimalist Californian sensibilities toward composition and presentation.

Since opening in October 2002, Catch is the perfect place to gather for every occasion – handcrafted artisanal cocktails and appetizers at the bar, a cozy romantic dinner for two by the fireplace.

Service great but food just so so. Seafood stew bland but sushi roll really good. Wine list very limited. Server was excellent. There are far better places for seafood in San Francisco.

Our old standby the 'sushi roll' still the most delicious appetizer! And with a generous Grey Goose Martini...YUM! A new fish entree, Yellow tail, cooked (like all of Catch's fish entrees) to perfection. And dont be shy, ask for their amazing risotto on any entree dish...they will substitute...it's the best. We love Catch....we are greeted like family there..the staff has been on board for years, and years...how many restaurants can say that! Catch, continues to deliver, month after month, year after year!

I am current in San Francisco for school and when my parents come to visit we like to go somewhere nice. I have never actually spent time in the Castro but I've only good things. Nothing disappointed especially the food. The whole experience was enjoyable and the fish was excellent. Great price for great food, and believe me, I am picky about my food! Highly recommended and will be forsure attending catch again soon.

I consider Catch to be my neighborhood joint, so I never have high expectations when I arrive. Boy I better change my attitude. Meals here are always exceptional. My dinner there this week was the day's special--Hawaiian butterfish sautéed and drizzled with a lemon caper sauce. It had a rich and buttery texture and a little pepper bite. Perfect. I also recommend the Red and Golden Beet Salad and a wonderful Chocolate and Vanilla Creme Brûlée. Mmm good.

For the SF Foodie. The dishes were beautiful & the ingredients were fresh. But the price & service I experienced didn't stack up to my expectations. The service was slow & our waiter was a face I didn't remember - he was so rarely involved in our experience. Other waiters came by to ask about our dishes & to apologize for the wait, but consideration can only allow for so much. We waited at least 15min for each dish to arrive. A request for extra toast for our mussels took 10min. When we wanted more cocktails, we couldn't flag anyone down. The uni pasta was not memorable apart from being overly salted. Looking for a great dining experience at $75 per head? Look elsewhere. If you're curious though, you'll only need to go once to understand.

Everything was delicious! I ordered the salmon medium rare, which was perfectly cooked and the presentation looked like an art piece. My favorite dish though was our mussel appetizer. The mussels were in a coconut meat sauce, which had the perfect amount of spices. The host recommended that we sit in the patio area right next to the fire pit, since it was our firt time there. It made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Four of us went to Catch for dinner. We were promptly seated at the window. Our server was pleasant and prompt. Everyone loved their appetizers and main courses. I just had the fish & chips which was perfectly cooked. The French fries were crisp and tasty - as good as I've had anyway. Everyone liked their cocktails or wine and I liked the lemonade - just the right combination of tartness and sweetness. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. We will continue to come back.

A regular stop for us because the food is consistently excellent, with great seafood/fish choices and salads. Menu is quite diverse though so there's something for everyone. Staff always friendly, welcoming, and they generally remember you've been there before (a good sign), and service is always good. On a busy film festival Friday they found a way to get us in, seated us early, and service was attentive, prompt, efficient despite the crowded dining room.

Our waiter let us taste a few wines to pair with our dinner. We even got to have two items that were not on the dine about town menu. Oh have the Cevieche if don't have anything else and have it twice its just that good.

Initially came for Done About Town but decided the regular menu had more goodies to offer. I went with the Seafood Stew and it was alright -- was missing a kick or salt. Usually one of our favorite restaurants in SF but was disappointed on this visit. We have gone multiple times since restaurant first opened. Our first disappointment came when they informed us corkage fee price went from $7 to $20! How outrageous! Not even a small increase. One of the things that originally attracted us to restaurant was reasonably priced corkage fee. So I felt they were just being greedy like others. In addition, they removed our fav. dish of lobster fettuccine from the menu. Finally, I was celebrating a friend's birthday and nothing special done for occasion. At a min. place a candle on dessert or even comp the dessert. It's not like meal was inexpensive. Bill was almost $110 for 2 people. Food good overall esp. oyster ap

I arrived slightly early for my 7 p. m. reservation, and was promptly seated. I waited for my dinner companion for 15, 20 minutes, only to discover that she had arrived at 7 p. m., and was told by the host that he didn't have my name down. She spelled my first and last name. Nope, not here, no reservation. Finally I spotted her at the host station. I recounted this to one of the wait staff, the only one not in uniform, and he said breezily, oh well. Later I asked the host person about it, and he said he never looked at the reservation list. This was an appalling and inexplicable lapse, and I don't even remember an apology. The food was very good, we had the seafood napoleon, the beet salad, the mussels, all very good.

The short ribs over the risotto with mushrooms and kale was incredible!!!... We will definitely order it again the next time we go back. The mixed seafood special was also nicely done. We started off with the tasty tangerine margarita that snuck up on me as I barely tasted the tequila. The ceviche was great! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive (but not obnoxiously so). Had the seafood salad as well as the vegetable sides and all looked and tasted fresh. Ordered the salmon "pizza" only to find that it's not really pizza dough, but rather a matzah-type cracker bread that's under the toppings.....if you like your food very crunchy then you might like this....I didn't and asked that they take it back which they did with no hesitation, another sign of a good restaurant. Overall a nice experience.
