Diner Reviews
  • "more flash than substance, which is a shame, because the food is very good. the decor is over the top. the service suffers in favor of the image of the servers. again, the food is quite good, but that substance is lost in the somewhat tacky and showy elements."

  • "Delicious meal started with a beet, goat cheese & kale salad. Yummy! Shrimp entree wonderful. On the pricey side. Unfortunately the decibel level is way up and it is hard to hear. Would I go back? Yes but off season or an off night."

  • "From the cheesesteak flatbread to the perfectly cooked lobster, each bite was delicious!"

  • "Interesting place focusing on the outstanding drink menu and orange & white decor (lots of sparkling things on the walls). On the night I went, I noticed the number of ladies to men was more than 3-1....and most seemed to be catching a drink. The food was good...but everything appeared to be a la carte. The main course was good, but the sides were either so-so or lousy. I had the grilled spinach...I didn't realize it could be screwed up. The white beans and mushrooms were very blase. I didn't try my dinner companions mac & cheese or other sides...but they were unremarkable. Food could be better....drinks tended toward the exotic and were well prepared. If you care going only for dinner, focus on the main courses and forget the sides."

  • "This is clearly the best restaurant down the shore for a special occasion. The food was terrific. Atmosphere was amazing. Drinks were terrific. Higher cost than the normal restaurant but worth it."

  • "Overall I was not impressed with this restaurant. It got a great review in The Philadelphia Inquirer so of course I had to try it out. A lot of nuances that needed to be fixed. They lost money on us by not checking on our alcohol consumption. In addition, the poor waitress had to rattle off a list of specials that was bigger than the menu itself-simpler would be better. Should not be serving boardwalk style potato chips if your food theme is Mediterranean, not enough bread for the meat and cheese board (which was also supposed to come with olives but did not), had to ask for new silverware, had to ask for appetizer plates, and too loud! The food is not bad food, but I think this restaurant has some seams to sew up if it wants to succeed."

  • "Joe Tucker has done it again. We loved his restaurant in Collingswood and now we love this one Longport! The OMG salad is not to be missed!!! If you have a group of 4 people get 2 as an appetizer and share. I also had the Bronzino which was amazing! We will be back soon!"

  • "Food is good but overpriced. Ambience great but extremely noisy. Waitress was polite but unfriendly-abrupt. Don't think I will be back this year."

  • "Went to Catch on a Saturday night. I thought the word Catch was because it was primarily a fish restaurant and not because the place appeared to be date only for the young (25-40) and beautiful. Even with a 9:15 dinner res, got seated at 9:45. Hard surfaces make the place extremely loud. All of our food though was surprisingly good. Big cocktail menu. Seems to be the place to go and then on to the Casino. Between the people and the place it seemed like something out of the "real housewives of...." But we were entertained and as I noted previously, the food was very good."

  • "I have dined at Tucker family restaurants in the past, but CATCH is my all time favorite. The menu was varied enough to satisfy the palettes of all ethnicities at our table. Every bite was delightful, satisfying, sensual...need I say more. We sincerely appreciated the time and attention of the wait staff as well as the owners who were so gracious in perusing the room to make sure every one was satisfied. Special is how every one seemed to feel, sitting in a room so exquisitely decorated. Diners tables are set up so that many of the guests can take part in the whole experience of CATCH. Make the reservations and take whatever time you can get. Its worth it!!!"

  • "We have tried every restaurant on the island and off, but Catch is where we LOVE the most. The food is incredible! Always consistent! Friendly service and the atmosphere is great!!"

  • "We enjoyed the food at catch except for the Flatbread which was too spicy to eat. Scallop entree was very tasty, Lobster Mac and Cheese was very good, sushi was average. Drinks were very good but too expensive. We are not sure if we will return to this restaurant as it is very expensive and feel that there are much better restaurants in the Longport, NJ area with better value, atmosphere, and food."

  • "Just recently found this vibrant restaurant on the tiny retail strip of Longport. Despite being there for awhile, never heard of it, so I suspect they need more advertising/ word of mouth. Very small place, with a very friendly staff. Nice choice of starters, including Kobe beef hot dog, which is a must have. Heavy on the seafood, which you would expect, but the turf fare gives you choices, & the filet was excellent. The only complaint was the bus staff, who were exuberant & enthusiastic but put dirty silverware next to food going home and packed all three leftovers in one box, touching each other. In fairness, the owner dealt with the issue promptly, and repacked. Will definitely go back for more!"

  • "I reserved Catch for a family birthday celebration, I knew those who hadn't been there would love it. I described as white with clear lines and a layer of elegance. My daughter, when she saw it, added an art-deco and South Beach Style. The people were well dressed, which I enjoy seeing for Saturday night dinner. Then the food. Homemade chips with vinegar. Unique assortment of appetizers-we shared a seafood flatbread that was enough for six with our salads. We then shared an OMG-Grilled romain toppped with seafood and a delicious dressing, and a crispy wedge. Everyone enjoyed the dinner, every sauce was scrumptious. Filet, Veal chop, Tuna, two of us got Shrimp royal. Birthday dessert chocolate brownie sundae. on the fave list!"

  • "Came here for the first time for their season opening. Catch is one of a kind. From the time I walked in greeted with a smile from the hostess (later to find out, she was the owner) then I sat at the bar with great apps and drinks with a friendly bar tender. Out waitress... I believe her name was Celeste... She was great very attentive to our table and helpful but not overbearing. You can catch the head chef/owner roaming around being very personable and making sure everything was going well. Few things our table ate... octopus, lamb chops, and veal chop Milanese. Loved everything, will be frequenting there throughout the summer."

  • "We had a phenomenal meal here! Our appetizers were nothing short of delicious. Our entrees, the strip special which tenderness was more like a filet, was unbelievable and the scallops which were served over an asparagus risotto. All delicious! We decided to get dessert for two reasons, one, they were all made in house and two, my husband couldn't resist the brownie. It did not disappoint. Additionally, we brought along our 10 month old daughter an they were extremely welcoming and happy to have us! She enjoyed the meatball appetizer that we ordered for her and we couldn't resist a taste. Delicious!! Thank you for an overwhelmingly fantastic experience! We can't wait to come back next summer!"

  • "We were lucky to get an early reservation on short notice on the day of the Miss America parade. The food was wonderful. The server offered a variety of fresh fish dishes with delicious fish sauces. My partner had the herb crusted truffle cream as did I. Do order a side of the Crispy Brussel Sprouts. The wait staff was very attentive. We will go back."

  • "Food and drinks are outstanding and uniquely prepared. Tuesday Lobster night is a great and delicious value with salad, two wonderful sides and a light dessert included for $39.95. The sound level, however, was the loudest I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It seemed like everyone was shouting at their dinner partners just to be heard over others who were also shouting."

  • "If you like a very noisy restaurant where you can hear your neighbors conversation then this is the place for you. Tables for two are much too close together. We ate here on Tuesday night and had the lobster special which was good. The salmon was just ok even though it was a special fish of the day. The service was slow and the waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu offerings. Save yourself some money and try the Happy Hour menu first."

  • "We had heard this restaurant was great from several sources. It did not live up to it's billing. The food portions small and not well prepared. I had a chefs special that was overcooked. The drinks were overpriced. However, it was a nice atmosphere and staff was very friendly."

  • "Really enjoyed it. Not cheap, but worth it. Great decor - not your typical shore place."

  • "You can't have a conversation with the person next to you. The noise level is uncomfortably out of hand. You would have thought that when they reconstructed the place after Sandy that they would have addressed this. It is a shame as the food and service were wonderful but the overall experience was dramatically effected by the noise level."

  • "Food was good as usual. one problem.......piece of GLASS in my fish when I was about halfway done. server apologized, took it back, asked if I wanted something else. No longer that hungry, I opted for lobster mac and cheese side dish which was very good. I was charged only for the mac and cheese-they should not have charged anything in my opinion."

  • "When one goes to a restaurant that specializes in fish, one assumes they will be offered various different fish choices. Early Sunday night, by earlly I mean we arrived before 6:30 p.m and were seated immediately. The waitress presented the evenings' specials together with the regular menu. When one of our party ordered a salmon dish - salmon probably the most common variety of fish available in a seafood restuaurant he was told they had none. When he then ordered a tuna ahi special he was promptly informed they had none at that early hour. two strikes down. How does a fish restaurant run out of popular choices early in the evening? The food ordered tasted good, not spectacular as we had been led to believe by friends. Service was fair."

  • "Loved the space & colors. Spicy pickle martini's were tasty-large cocktail list to choose from. Food & service were very good, we had crab cakes, lobster/crab pasta & blueberry creme brulee. Would have preferred to order fresh fish with one of the 6 different sauces on the menu, but they didn't have much local- only tuna, grouper, salmon & a South African fish we never heard of."

  • "Four of us had dinner at the cute/up-beat restaurant in Longport, NJ. We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees. Interesting menu with several added "specials." The food was extremely good however no one raved about their selections. We will return to this restaurant in the future."

  • "We started our dinner with cocktails made just right. We went on Tuesday which is Lobster night. The three course Lobster dinner costs $39 and was marvelous. The Lobster was presented beautifully and spiced to perfection. You get to choose two side orders and we can really recommend the blackened Brussels sprouts. Everyone was friendly and the up atmosphere alone is reason enough to visit this excellent restaurant."

  • "Six of us all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. From the stuffed pork chop (my personal favorite) to the fresh fish dishes, the OMG Salad (my wife's fav) is also a real winner as well as the delicious flat breads. Joe Tucker has this place humming right along. Even the sushi looked amazing! They did a great job with the post-Sandy interior design and all the servers are knowledgeable and very pleasant."

  • "With a reservation, we waited fifteen minutes standing at the front of an empty (six patrons ) restaurant while the hostess/owner spoke on her cell. There were numerous waitresses and waiters standing around but no one acknowledged us. It was a very awkward fifteen minutes in which we discussed leaving and seating ourselves. The restaurant is newish and clean but not our taste. It is a bit garish like a scene from Sleeper. It has all hard finishes so when it got busier it got very noisy. The menu was ambitious but the food was mostly poorly executed. The tuna was very over done. Chewy steamed clams came in a broth. I asked for bread for the broth and after ten minutes the waiter came back and said the chef said NO (emphatically).."
