Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed all of the food, but the service was weak at best, bogging down the quality of the meal. Our server introduced himself, saying he would be taking care of us tonight. After taking the order, bringing bread and drinks, we never saw him again. The apparent waiting tables as a group concept never worked here. We had empty drinks at one point for 20 minutes. The talented owner needs to revamp the service concept soon. We probably wont go back."

  • "The fish was fresh and cooked just right. I think its location in a strip mall help keep prices moderate."

  • "After 3 meals there we are confident in the quality of the food, and have not had any real disappointments (though the lobster sliders were not especially interesting). Specialty cocktails are excellent, and the wine list has some real finds on it. ...but, it is a little unpolished on the service end. The wait staff is uneven- all friendly enough, but delivery in particular is erratic."

  • "This restaurant features local food and very fresh ingredients. The food is innovative but not weird. It is my favorite in wilmington nc."

  • "We had heard a lot abut this restaurant and it lived up to expectations. The soft shell crab and salmon were delicious. The service was very good. They offered many specials that all sounded delicious. We will certainly go again and recommend it to friends."

  • " Small place and small staff. We love not being rushed and we thought the timing of the food was excellent. Waitress gave excellent suggestions and all the food was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Our table tried the scallops, the fish special of the day and the tuna. The first course says share on the menu and that is a good suggestion as the portions are large if you are also having an entree. The firecracker shrimp was delicious. Good wine list and she was knowledgeable about the wine. Coffee was delicious and comes in big cups. We were unable to give the desserts a fair try due to being too full. The only other comment as the place became more crowded then it became more conversationally challenged."

  • "This is the second time we've dined here and it was another wonderful experience. The food was very good as was the attentive service. I don't know how the meat dishes are (I assume the too are good) but I doubt I will ever stray from the seafood dishes. they are just too darn good. Mahi was not available so they substituted tuna for the seared dish. It was absolutely excellent, and plenty of it. Go early as it gets a bit noisy as it gets crowded. Besides, then the chef has time to come out and say "Hello"."

  • "We enjoyed our experience at Catch and would recommend it to anyone. Only hitch was the shared appetizer came at the same time as our entrees."

  • "Food is definitely fit for foodies and always tastes amazing. The specials are usually very good. Drinks are a little pricey but taste great. We always enjoy our dining experience there and have never ordered anything we didn't like."

  • "On the recommendation of the Noni Bocca proprietors, I made dinner reservations for me and my bride of 27 years. The shrimp cervices was fabulous; the salmon entre melted in your mouth and they ended running out within an hour and a half due to demand; and the lemon tart was easily in the top five deserts I have eaten in my 51 years on this earth. The recommended wine pairing was spot on and was devine. Great restaurant."

  • "This was our second time to Catch and it was another fantastic meal! The calamari was crisp and expertly fried with a choice of dipping sauces that were a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Our entrees were delicious and the plates left clean! I was very impressed with my shrimp and grits which included a dozen or so nice sized local shrimp covered in an unctuous gravy. We also had the soft shell crab special and mahi mahi which was spicy and delicious. We finished the evening with a piping hot pineapple and cherry crumble. The food was wonderful, the service was attentive but not intrusive and we all left with full happy bellies. We will definitely be back!"

  • "My wife heard great things about Catch so we made reservations to celebrate our anniversary and I must say the food was excellent! My wife is not much for shrimp but she raved about the Fire Cracker Shrimp appetizer. She had grouper for the entree and I had blackened mahi mahi with grits and blue crab on top and they were both excellent. The bread was delicious as well. Will definitely recommend to others!"

  • "We are always extremely pleased with our dinners at Catch and like to take our friends there. There were four of us on Friday and each of us had a different entree. Each of us raved about the selection they had made. We are all folks with world wide restaurant dining experience and feel that Chef Keith is right up there with the best."

  • "We both had lobster dinners-the drunken and the tempura. Great presentation". The potatoes were excellent. Unlike previous times, the lobsters were overly salty. Still enjoyable but not up to earlier meals. Service was knowledgeable and faultless. The creme brûlée was along the best, perfect end to dinner."

  • "We waited fifteen minutes before we had to get up to request a waiter to take our drink order etc. The wait staff was not knowledgable about the menu. They offered a complimentary appetizer due to the poor service and then forgot to take it off the bill. We waited a long time for the bill to be corrected. The food was excellent, but there are too many other great restaurants with better service and ambience to return to this one."

  • "I was traveling to Wilmington and decided to try this restaurant after seeing it on opentable. What an absolute find! Absolutely everything I ate was a flavor explosion. I saw people at other tables sharing food because it was so good! The waitress was wonderful, guiding me to the sweet potato salad, which was out of this world! I will definitely visit this restaurant on my return trips to the city."

  • "I was visiting from out of town with my two kids.(4 & 6) We wanted something close to our hotel with good seafood. I googled and found this place. The reviews were great. They were correct. The food was amazing. The drink options were stellar. They were accommodating to the kids even without an official kids menu. We ended up spending more than I expected. It was really pricey. But the lobster special I had was the best I've eaten. Great service for a small establishment."

  • "Positive, excellent service. Reasonable corkage fee. Imaginative, tasty, seasonal menu. Sweet potato salad was a stand out this visit. Got to say hello to the very talented Keith on our way out. Great experience."

  • "Dinner was fantastic - rivaling the best meal we have ever had in any city we have traveled to worldwide. The chef is a genius."

  • "Once again, our compliments to the chef!! For me, l.5 lb lobster special did not disappoint - impressive presentation (the lobster looked like it was showing off) meat removed - prepared with a delightfully Asian influence of flavors in a delicate sauce - and my husband proclaimed his favorite scallop entrée to be delicious. The firecracker shrimp appetizer was so good; we thought it would make a wonderful entrée."

  • "Chef Rhodes is a very talented professional who uses local, fresh, sustainable ingredients to come up with the most creative meals around. We have eaten here often with friends and family and no one has ever been disappointed. Top drawer all around, from food to drink to service to ambience to value for your money. I recommend Catch without hesitation!"

  • "Our dining experience at Catch was a disappointment...our food was good, but portions were small & expensive. Our server was good, but seating & other services seemed confused. For the price that we paid, our dinner was less than memorable. Don't mind paying more, but we expect more when we do. "

  • "Four of us went to Catch for dinner on Saturday night. We tasted two delicious appetizers and four entrees, from soft shell crab to lobster sliders. Each dish was spectacular, interesting, delicious, and beautifully presented. Our server was excellent and helpful with her knowledgeable advice. We also tried the special Martini of the night, Hibiscus. OH MY Gosh, what a superb blend of flavors and delicious rimming on the edge of the glass. "

  • "I went with my wife and two kids, age 11 months and 7 years old. The staff made all of us feel welcome and right at home. The staff was very attentive and followed up frequently. The menu was extensive and had a lot of great choices. The quality of the dishes was very good and I'd gladly go back"

  • "This restaurant is owned by Chef Keith Rhodes and his wife Angela. Chef Rhodes is the most creative seafood chef I have ever encountered. We have eaten at this restaurant over 24 times and will keep coming back. The regular menu has great items - one of best crabcakes in Carolinas and great shrimp and grits. I had a special - strawberry grouper this time. My wife had a traditional Calabash style friend flounder and shrimp. Both great!"

  • "We always know to ask for Chef's specials. We started with the shared bowl of the Crawfish that we enjoyed all the way through the broth at the bottom. My lobster and my daughter's soft-shell crabs were divine. Our friend opted for Chef's famous crab cakes. We could not have had a better dinner, or celebration, anywhere else."

  • "When I see the Catch Food Truck on the streets of Wilmington I know there are wonderful Lobster Sliders to be had. The same with the Catch Restaurant location on Market Street, Lobster, Lobster and much more wonderful food is inside to be had. Keith Rhodes and his crack staff create mouth watering dishes to please any palate. We had a friend up from Florida with us on our latest visit and he loved the blackened flounder and fried shrimp that was not an menu item, thanks for accommodating him. We love the food and recommend it to any foodie out there."

  • "It was out first time to eat at Catch The food was wonderful. The lobster roll sliders are delicious. Others in our group enjoyed the crab cakes and salmon. The servers and staff are attentive and gracious. Will definitely go back."

  • "I do not reside in Wilmington, but whenever I visit, I prefer to eat at Catch. The friendly, knowledgeable staff are present when needed, yet disappear during conversations between guests. LOVE the seafood offerings: quite innovative and delicious!"

  • "If you like your food prepared by a professional chef rather than cooked by a line cook, this is the place to go. I did make a mistake by having a fried Hors d'oeuvre, then a fried entree. (Too much for my stomach) Most of the food is not fried, by the way. My husband had a lobster dish that was fantastic. The seasonings were very complimentary to the food and didn't overpower it. Even the salad was wonderfully prepared with a homemade dressing that was delicious. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was that the chairs are straight-backed wooden chairs...no padding. When you spend a long time savoring food, the chairs become VERY uncomfortable and distracting. By the end of the meal, I just wanted to leave."

  • "Have been here before and love the seafood, esp. the Angry Lobster though this time the market price was too dear. I did the sweet potato salad and the crab cakes. Outstanding! The wine list is also wonderful and reasonable considering its a restaurant . Excellent Napa CA Chardonnay for $32 a bottle.label First Press and a respectable Vognier from France by the glass. Your more pricey dinner but worth the price. Located in a nondescript location and I sometimes wish the owner and chef Kevin would go in for more atmosphere but not at the expense of the great food! "

  • "Have always enjoyed. Food is excellent and serving size just right. Too much food on a plate turns never off, besides it like to enjoy having a salad but with most restaurants if you eat a salad you can't eat all the food. I hate to see food go to waste."

  • "We had not been to Catch in several years and had inland guests in for a focus on seafood. The service was quite slow....arrived at 6:30pm , entree served at 7:35pm. The appetizers were good, the spicy shrimp and the fried oysters. Our guests' meals were good (short ribs & salmon), but the lobster special which we had was way over cooked & tough. As it was quite expensive ($47), very slow in being served and then ill prepared we were very disappointed. There are too many very good alternatives in Wilmington to want to return to Catch."
