A word from Catch Miami
Exactly one year after launching their flagship restaurant concept CATCH in New York’s Meatpacking District, EMM Group introduced CATCH Miami, its first outpost of the popular eatery in South Beach on Collins Avenue at The James Royal Palm. Since opening its doors in January 2013, CATCH Miami, led by Top Chef Season 3 winner, Executive Chef Hung Huynh, has enjoyed packed reservation books and rave reviews, proving CATCH’s fast-passed New York City style of dining has found itself a home amongst the people of Miami.

The nearly 4,000 square foot restaurant, fashioned between two floors and 190 seats, leaves much of the venue's landmarked, art-deco style interior intact. Upon arrival guests walk thru the 40 seat outdoor patio and into a 1,770 square foot First Floor Dining Room where the Main Bar sits in striking semblance to the hotel's original structure.

Diner Reviews
  • "So greeted and seated very nicely.. Ordered with one of the two waiters that was taking care of us.. Had a Chinese firedrill feeling to the place, then- ALL OF THE FOOD, salads, main courses, EVERYTHING hits the table all at once. Weirdest experience ever at a restaurant. So we ate the hot food and sent the sushi and salads back. Not sure what to say except that the food was good for what is was worth but this place needs some help logistically. Fun location, try and sit outdoors."

  • "This is simply outstanding, the service is faultless, the food is unbelievable (try the taco shells!) and the atmosphere is electric! We loved it here, and would recommend it to anyone."

  • "The staff were very friendly. The food was good and prompt. Not many gluten free options unfortunately. Also, the fire alarm was going off for about 15 min while we are and they came and told us it was fine not to worry..tell that to my ears! Lol"

  • "What a great 2nd experience we've had a Catch Miami. Entertained out of town guests whom were delighted with the atmosphere and wide selections of exquisitely prepared tasty share plates. From pork to whole fish - the entire group participated in a mass tasting. The service was pleasant and accommodating. I will return again in the near future."

  • "The food is good but service needs to improve drastically. No sequence of service. Various waiters coming to the table asking the same question or looooong time without service. Cold ambience outdoors. Has potential although"

  • "We sat outside because the weather was beautiful but it faces the street instead of the ocean so it is a bit loud. The waiters and service was wonderful. The food was outstanding, we shared some of the cold sushi appetizers the tuna was the best I ever had. Then for dinner we shared the Cantonese lobster which was enough for 3 ladies, I will be dreaming of it. Pricy but definitely worth it."

  • "After reading many reviews on Catch Miami, I am was expecting to be greeted by a snooty host and to wait 45 minutes for my table. My table was booked for Saturday 9 pm, busy times. We showed up at 9pm, we're asked if we wanted to be inside or outside, got seated right away. The waiter was great. The food as good as in Catch NY. Good place."

  • "Food was great, service eh. Had an issue when we first came with bartender, but he was nice enough in the end to apologize, which is more than i can say for the manager. When we told her about the problem, it was as if she couldn't be bothered. I'd hate to see how she would handle a real big problem. She was very unprofessional, and not a real good representation of this restaurant. Our server was great, very helpful, and the food was good-but there are a lot of good places in Miami, and if management is lacking, which is surprising for a big restaurant group like this, the fickle Miami scene will go elsewhere. Hopefully they will get it together."

  • "Went for dinner on a weeknight and ordered six appetizers to be split between my husband and me. First, the oysters were brought out fairly quickly. From that point it was 10-15 minutes between each dish. It was so absurd we had to laugh. Everything we tried was delicious though which made it half tolerable."

  • "We chose Catch Miami as our first night dining choice on a getaway to South Beach. We ordered the Cantonese Lobster which was recommended by our waiter as a house specialty. It was good but not great. It also arrived from the kitchen too quickly. That was disappointing. Our waiter apologized and compensated us by bringing out a complimentary snack and a desert, which we enjoyed. I would return to Catch in the future."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Catch while we were vacationing in Miami. What a great find! We had to sit inside because it was raining, which was disappointing, but it was very lively and upbeat in the restaurant. We were seated just inside the door on the main floor, which I was a little nervous about since it was near the bar, but it ended up being a great dinner. The drinks were great, my husband had oysters and loved them. We shared the crispy rice with tune, mahi mahi tacos, Grace roll, and salmon with lobster mac and cheese. There was not one dish we had any complaints about. We received two glasses of champagne and a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We loved everything, we just wish it was closer to Chicago!"

  • "Their fish and sushi and raw bar are all delicious. But they seem to over-sit each server so the waitstaff are too busy to take care of each table. We were sat 40 minutes after our reservation time and were given only a wine list. 12 minutes later, we were given water and a food menu and we ordered the wine. Our wine didn't arrive for another 15 minutes! Also, the wine list is very limited and they were out of our first choice selection. We had to keep flagging down people to get water, soy sauce cups etc. We poured our own wine. We would never return b/c of how poor the service was since there are so many restaurants in Miami with great food and great service."

  • "Food is great- I love the lobster dish, pasta dishes and many of the starters. I find the restaurant a little rustic in decor, which I don't love, but the food makes up for it. The service is good. The bar downstairs is fun."

  • "When we arrived, we told the hostess that we had a reservation for two. We waited another 30-40 minutes before they sat us down although we were punctual for our reservation. It didn't feel like too long of a wait because we enjoyed some delicious drinks by the bar. The bartender was really great and friendly. Once our table was ready, we were taken to the upstairs dining room (great decor and ambiance). Our server was really on her A game and it was fireworks after that. Everything we ordered was absolutely mouth watering, from the rock shrimp to the miniature tacos to the wagu beef cooked on a stone, they know their food. We had an amazing time. This place is not just Miami "see and be seen hype" but the real deal."

  • "The menu is almost identical to their NYC Meatpacking District restaurant (the restaurant itself isn't as ginormous), with a few local twists (including supposedly "the pork chops are the best thing on the menu" per our waiter - yes, at a fish restaurant?). That's not for us so we stuck with the fish and it was ever bit as deliciously prepared as the original location. The mahi tacos, the grilled cobia, the bronzino, the ceviche platter, all fantastic. Our guest said the grilled octopus was as well. I love the warm pretzel bread. The best was truly last, though, a chocolate cake with a hard chocolate shell on top that surrounded a gooey white chocolate drizzle when broken open. Spectacular!"

  • "If you don't mind overpaying, it's actually one of the better options for hotel dining in South Beach. Funny enough, I've never eaten at Catch in NYC (except for one private event last year) and probably won't ever after this experience . Our fish was tasty though."

  • "Very good restaurant- pleasant waitstaff and greeter! A little pricey, though- but that's south beach!"
    Dined on 2/19/2014
  • "Very innovative menu which manages to be delicious too. The service is efficient and pleasant . I would have preferred dressed tables and softer music. At 8 o'clock ,when we arrived, few tables were occupied but the music was on as if the party was has started hours ago."

  • "We have been to the NYC Catch and wanted to try the sister restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food is spectacular. If you have a larger party, or a larger wallet, try the entrées designed for sharing, like the crispy snapper (which was sublime). The decor in the upstairs is modern but still warm. Maybe a touch more lighting is needed around the tables as it's hard to read the menus. One other minor complaint - the waitstaff (who are otherwise very professional) should not feel compelled to go through their favorite menu items in detail. It's too much of a hard sell, and it's boring to listen to - I'd rather read the menu myself and ask questions if I have any."

  • "This was our first visit to Catch Miami and we will definitely return. I went with my husband and 12-year-old daughter; the staff could not have been more attentive and personable. I have dined at many restaurants but have never experienced this impressive level of service; water glasses NEVER went empty and multiple staff stopping by to make sure we had everything we needed througout the evening. Olga was fantastic explaining the menu and what they recommeded. We had the Zulu roll, the grilled octopus and scallops and gnocchi for apetizers and shared the crispy pork shank with applewood bacon brussel sprouts and yucca tots. The flavors were incredible. We can't wait to go back and bring our friends. Sincere thanks to the team Catch-Miami."

  • "Have dined all over the world for many years and was not happy here because the waitress kept calling me "Sweetie". Perhaps I am a little old for this place, but there were several others over 65 here. The menu was confusing. Pricey appetizers and small portions not fit for sharing. The main courses, however, were very good. The desserts also were good. Don't assume older people to be inexperienced diners. Most of us have spent many years enjoying new restaurants and exciting new food concepts, which are happening at "Catch"."

  • "We were not familiar with the shared eating set up but since there were only the two of us we were happy to jump in. Our waitress was a real sweetheart, attentive and with great food recommendations. The drinks were a bit watered down and the ambiance shifted from romantic to club in a flash when the music suddenly bumped up and we had to yell or text to communicate. We took it as our signal to leave :) The food and service made it all worthwhile."

  • "Catch Miami is one of the best restaurants in South Beach. everything that we order was out of this world! try the Crispy Shrimp, the Crunchy Rice Cakes (my favorite), the Macaroni & Lobster Cream (Spectacular!) and the Mahi Mahi Wonton Taco. for dessert try the Key Lemon."

  • "We loved Catch NYC so we thought it would be a great idea to try Catch Miami. Booked our reservation with my parents. Our friends got stuck in traffic so they were late unfortunately. The restaurant would no seat us until our entire party was there. We had to sit in the bar for half an hour and left there. We asked to be seated at our table to order drinks and appetizers and they would not do it. They then gave us a table in the middle of the lobby and told us that the upstairs was totally booked. Only after we insisted did they give us a table upstairs. The table was not great for a group of 7. The restaurant was unbelievably noisy. No one could hear anyone speaking. Food was fine. Not as good as Catch NYC."

  • "The restaurant was loud, dark, and tightly packed. The wine list was small and when we ordered they were out of our first two choices. Then the waitress brought us something else we didn't really want and we tasted it. It wasn't t good and then we just ordered two glasses of another ordinary wine. They lost out on our ordering a bottle and the wine was expensive!!! There were many staff walking around but service was inattentive . Food was ok, not bad but not special. And to top it off, the fire alarms sounded for about ten minutes with whooping noise and flashing lights. They told us it was from the hotel they're located in and not for us but it was more than annoying!!!"

  • "When we arrived, we were told we had to vacate our table by 9pm. Our reservation was for 9 people at 7pm. Much too rushed, we brought wine 4 bottles, had $140 corkage fee, $1200 bill. Had to guzzle it, order and eat quickly. Not a great experience! Food was good not great. Bronzino served was half the fish. I see greedy owners. Once the hype is over, wont last 5 years. Typical SOBE"

  • "The food is outstanding and I recommend it and will probably go back. BUT, this is a sceney spot and be ready for attitude and a wait. We made our reservation at 8:00p on OpenTable for a 8:45p table. We arrived at 8:40p and were told we would be seated shortly. At 9:10p I went to the host stand and was met with a lack of concern. At 9:40p I went back with some attitude of my own and was told we were next to be seated. At 9:50p we were seated. I saw several two tops seated ahead of us with people that had come in after us. It seems to matter here how good looking you are and what color AMEX you have! Black seems to be the preferred one! That being said, I will go back, armed with attitude, and not on a Friday night!"

  • "I was more impressed by the layout of the restaurant and the service than the food. The food wasn't bad just nothing special. Bot my appetizer (caesar salad) and entre (grouper) were bland. The staff was very attentive, and the restaurant has a cool vibe. I recommend going for cocktails instead of a meal."

  • "Food was excellent, however prices were a bit excessive. $34 for barely a 6oz of fish and some arugula doesn't add up. And although my mixed drink was fantastic, $18 is pushing it. My date's wine glass wasn't given a proper pour as well. Overall, great food. Too much money."
