Diner Reviews
  • "Catch 35 has been our favorite restaurant for many years. We come here for all the milestones in our life. Anniversaries, birthdays...... etc.. The food is always great and the service is wonderful...."

  • "Have been here before and have found the food to be excellent. Had the hallibut this time and it was wonderful. The serving size was very generous. The pesto and salsa served with it were wonderful.. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I have had the Sea Bass in Naperville several years ago and seemed a bit different, but good !"

  • "Great place for special dinner before the theater. Our favorite for good food and convenience to theater district."

  • "Catch 35 is one of the top 10 seafood restaurants in Chicago, known for their variety, daily menu changes, excellent service. The food is always and consistently excellent, and there is nothing bad in the menu. They have a jazz band several times a week at the bar, but this is never a noisy or crowded room. Very good for a special, romantic dinner. Few restaurants in Chicago have been in business as long as this one, and that in itself speaks volumes about quality, and loyalty of Chicagoans that return many times."

  • "The cocktails and oysters were lovely everything else was mediocre. The salmon, which was recommended, was really bland. The essence of key lime is a delightful tartness, which was lacking from the eponymous pie. We have not been here in years and given how far the establishment has slipped we do not plan to return. Service was slow."

  • "Great food Great service fair pricing. Live in Michigan will return to Catch 35."

  • "My family and I were in town celebrating my college graduation. Our waiter was fantastic, very helpful and very nice. The food was OUTSTANDING. I had the king crab legs which were amazing!"

  • "He was sort of like a bitter uninterested Vince Vaughan who really didn't seem to care we were there"
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "I have been coming to Catch 35 for many many years and this experience was very disappointing. My halibut was dry and bland and the service was extremely poor. the waiter very much seemed disinterested and somewhat abrubt and he paid little or no attention to the table."

  • "We had tickets to Motown and were running late due to traffic. They sat us right away and took our order and had all of our food out, schezuan scallops, beer coconut shrimp, Hawaiian poke and shrimp pad thai and soup out within 15-20 minutes. It is delicious seafood with an Asian flair. Amazing, friendly service needless to say we made it to the show on time."

  • "Tried 2 rolls of sushi and the seafood cobb salad. The sushi was very fresh and had great flavor. The waitress recommended the seafood cobb salad, which was full of great ingredients, but not too heavy. Overall great food!"

  • "I come here every 6 weeks and am never disappointed. The fish and seafood entrees cannot be beat. Desserts are wonderful, too. My compliments to the excellent service which is standard."

  • "Catch 35 has been around for quite a while, and continues to offer good food in an attractive and relaxed setting. We just had a light lunch; will return to sample more substantial menu items. The fish tacos were good and service was prompt and professional."
    Dined on 7/22/2014
  • "The service and hospitality were exceptional, along, of course, with the fresh seafood. The chocolate pudding cake was outstanding! I would highly recommend Catch 35 for any occasion!"
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "Everything about Catch 35 was wonderful but the food. Too many flavors of sauces and toppings fighting with both our entrees -- scallops and a nicely seasoned haddock."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "Wait staff was very attentive and helpful with the menu. He offered suggestions from the menu. Food was excellent. Nice wine list."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "We have eaten at this one and the one in Naperville before but had forgotten how outstanding this restaurant is. We are all foodies and like to cook ourselves so when we go out, the food needs to be special. Catch 35 is definitely special. Three of us had the signature dish, Chilean Sea Bass ...fabulous; the other had surf and turn, ditto. The theater and Catch 35 is a great combo for a special night on the town."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "This is a large restaurant that offers great sea food. I ordered scallops for starters and sword fish for entrée. Others in our group of 4 ordered soup and white fish. All dishes were perfect. We had to go to the Good man theater so we needed to complete our meal in one hour; it took quite an effort to get waiter to take our order. Once that was done, the food arrived quite quickly and we were done in 45 minutes. But we could not find the server to order dessert. So, keep this in mind if you have limited time. I would go back to this place again with more time."

  • "Catch 35 is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago and it has never failed to provide us with a wonderful meal and great dining experience."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Wonderful, wonderful. The Sea Bass, a waiter recommendation, was top notch. We also enjoyed the crab cakes and filet sliders. All in all, a terrific dining experience."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Catch 35 is a great pre theater restaurant and the valet service enables you to park once. The food is consistently good. But, the restaurant was full and many people were dining before the theater. We got there at 6 for an 8 show. Our salads were served while the appetizers were on the table. Then after the entrees were served the server seemed to disappear. Dessert was included in my guest's dinner and they had to rush through to leave in time and we didn't have time for coffee. I thought we'd allowed ample time but perhaps not on a theater night. It was disappointing for a very expensive evening."

  • "Four of us tried this restaurant after seeing matinee at a local theater. We found it a real delight, and, by Chicago standards, very reasonably priced. But the best part was the food. Great selections, wonderful preparatio and a waiter that knew his stuff. We will drop by again, next time we are in Chicago!"

  • "Dined at Catch 35 - only a couple of blocks from the Goodman. Food is fresh and Wine selection was very good as was the service. Pre-Fixe menu was offered and had a reasonably priced selection. Added bonus for theater goers - the price of valet parking is deducted from your bill and you can pick up your car after the show. Overall good experience and would recommend Catch 35."

  • "While in Chicago to watch a couple White Sox games, My wife and I dined at Catch 35. The food and service were excellent . The restaurant reminds me of many of the great seafood restaurants that we have in La."

  • "We enjoyed fish that was prepared in a tasty fashion. The service was very good, we were going to the theater and we were out in plenty of time"
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "A very nice dinner in a prime location to see a show. We all enjoyed our dinners. My Chilean sea bass was nothing other than delicious. Perfectly prepared. I heard rave reviews over the bread pudding by those who ordered dessert. I, of course, drank mine. Kudos to the staff for asking if we had time restrictions. Nice touch."

  • "We had an early reservation, 6pm, for a quick dinner before heading to Goodman Theatre. When we arrived at the restaurant, our reservation was for the dining room, but the bar scene was so vibrant we asked to be seated there! Great atmosphere, live music. We had a great little 2-top by a large window. Fantastic service, our server made great recommendations and was always available when we needed her. I was surprised by how quickly the food came out too! We ordered the sweet pea risotto for an appetizer, then had the blackened salmon and the sea bass. Martinis were great as the wine list."

  • "We asked for a quiet table, but were placed next to a party of 8 that was celebrating and drinking. Our waitress, Liz, was a poor listener and orders had to be repeated. Lag between salad and entree was half an hour so we had to order desert then to be able to get to the theater in time for a show, which we told her about when ordering. The party to the left was so loud we strained our voices talking to one another of our party of four. We told our waitress of the noise, but it had to effect. The food was good, but the service and noise ruined the experience. We'll look for another place when going to the Goodman Theater."

  • "We had a fantastic dinner before our show at the Goodman! We let our server Derrick know that we were in a hurry and he did a great job serving our food quickly. The oysters were outstanding!"
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "The food is always delicious, the music was a bit loud for conversation, also, the food took a bit, but we had told the waiter we did not have a curtain to catch, so I'm sure they were focused on those customers first. Overall, fantastic."

  • "Waiter was terrific-food was very good-highly recommend."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "I had the halibut which was well prepared and presented. The wait staff was attentive to our needs. The bar scene is energetic. Great place for food, fun and meeting people."

  • "I have never written a review before but after the service we had Tuesday night I felt the need to share.... The food was wonderful as usual but the service was atrocious. The bus boy and runner certainly worked hard but our waitress was not attentive at all. She never asked how our food was, if we wanted more wine, brought my girlfriend a diet coke twice even though she asked for a coke. When we told her of her mistake she didn't even take it off the bill. She had no personality and just laid down the dessert menu and walked away without saying a thing. We were going to order another appetizer as our first two didn't fill us up but because our service was so terrible we couldn't because we would have missed our show."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Great to go for dinner before theater... They valet your car for $12 then you just walk a few blocks. Car is waiting outside if restaurant when you return!"
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Expensive: 2 entrees, 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 appetizer, 1 beer.....$125. I expect a memorable meal when I spend that much but it was incredibly average. The blackened swordfish and the Maytag salad were very good. The scallop appetizer, seafood chowder, and salmon were just OK. Given the other choices in the area, I will be going elsewhere in the future."
