Time to enjoy some conversation with wine and an appetizer well before salads were placed, and the same for the entrees, and again with coffee and dessert.   • "This was our first time at Catch 35. The restaurant was quite lovely, but it was noisy! The food was good, but costly. We had two glasses of wine, 3 cocktails, one cup of soup, one appetizer, two entrees, and one dessert. The bill was $152.00. We had a drink at the bar after dinner and enjoyed a 3-piece jazz group with a singer. We enjoyed our evening, but I think I would probably not return."

  • "We went here before seeing a show at the Bank of America Theater (The Last Ship) and were psyched about the free valet parking for the duration of dinner and the show. Great deal for Chicago! The restaurant didn't make it clear that you had to notify your waiter about the show so he could then credit our bill the amount of parking ($12). So when we returned after the show, we didn't have our receipt and ended up having to pay for parking."

  • "Beautiful dinner at a great place. Catch 35 was very gluten free accommodating, bringing piping hot gluten free rolls to accompany the bisque. Soft shell crabs were delicious, and the fresh oysters were a fantastic starter. The service was really top notch, attentive but never intrusive. The pea risotto was a bit bland and paled in contrast with the garlic mashed potatoes. Dessert was delightful."

  • "We were able to get a last minute reservation on 4th of July weekend here. We were seated right away. Wait staff very attentive but not too much. The crab cakes were delicious but I am used to them being a little more crunchy. Yellowfin Tuna Poke was outstanding.! My friend had the Whitefish. He gave the mashed potatoes a so-so and regretted not changing for a rice. Overall a great experience."

  • "I'd not been in many years because of the memories of fishy smells at the entrance. It was much better. Got there for lunch, not terribly full, but pleasant. A very nice waitress was very attentive. My birthday guest declined dessert, but the waitperson remembered and brought 1 scoop of Homer's cappuccino ice cream. The shrimp pad thai was delicious and the ice cream, heavenly. The only misstep was saying the soup was like manhattan style chowder. it was a creamy tomato based soup, delicious, but very rich."

Good seafood in a variety of presentations from simple to unusual but have never had a bad meal here. Important to be clear what ambiance you are looking for as the dining area runs from pretty lively by the bar area to quiet and personal as you move further in."

  • "Two of us for lunch. My friend had the haddock which looked lovely and he loved it. I had the tuna nicoise, in which tradition was broken decisively. The little green beans were pickled. The little boiled potatoes were 4 or 5 bites large. Most of the greens were of the tasteless, variety. The dressing was non-existent. There was some raw onion. The tuna, however, was excellent. The room is comfortable, and the service very good. They just should work on the nicoise."

  • "Although we went on a Sunday night, it was quite busy in here. Our waiter had a very large table behind us so was a little busy with them and took longer than normal to come back for our order. There were very limited selections for wine by the glass. My daughter ordered the scallops and I had the sea bass. The food came out promptly, hot and delicious except for the split pea risotto, which the consistency and flavor were not appealing to the pallet at all. We were going to a show so we didn't have time for coffee or dessert."

Service was a little slow, and my wine arrived too long after my meal for my preference. However, for an after-work dinner, this is THE place to go for seafood."

Overall, it was reasonably priced for a seafood restaurant downtown. It was not a particularly fancy restaurant. More of a casual place.   • "We went to Catch 35 the day of our anniversary. We got there at 5:30 pm and we had theater tickets at 7:30 pm. We had a great waiter who said we could get out by 7 pm. I had king crab legs and my husband had the sea bass. Both dishes were delicious. My husband also had the oysters Rockefeller and they were wonderful, I ate one of his. For dessert we had a blueberry Panna cotta very good and they brought it complimentary bc it was our anniversary. When we left the restaurant it was pouring outside, no umbrella. My husband asked the one of the valet guys if we could borrow his umbrella, kidding. He said YES, so nice of him so we did not get drenched walking two blocks to the thater."

  • "We selected Catch 35 based in part on reviews from Open Table. The ratings were consistent with our experience. My wife had filet mignon medallions and I had a bone in rib eye...both prepared as ordered and both tasty and tender. For desert I had the pecan pie, which was the best I've ever had. My wife had the pumpkin cheesecake and she was equally pleased! We dined after attending Motown (which by-the-way was exceptional) and arrived about 5:15 for a 5:30 reservation. Given we were one of the first to dine, our waiter gave us his undivided attention. As the dining area filled with diners, we continued to receive very good service from an attentive waiter."

Service on a Saturday night was a bit slow, where we waited quite a while to get any attention from our server after being seated. All the food was very good with especially delicious bread and dessert."
