We have always heard from friends that we should try Catch 35 - it was excellent- we went before seeing a show at the Goodman. The service was excellent and they timed it perfectly for us to get to the show. We had salmon and sea bass and they were done beautifully.

Usually enjoy Catch 35 after the theater. One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Love the Fixed Price 3-course option. Tuna Poke was terrific. Love to take friends and family. Love music in the bar. Wish your parking option started b4 5pm for theatergoers.

Our visit started out shaky but ended on a high note. We had a 5:45 reservation with a request for a quiet booth away from traffic areas. When we arrived, we were seated across from the kitchen. We were moved to a table across from a busy service station. After ordering our drinks, a different hostess came and apologized for the confusion and reseated us at a nice booth away from traffic. The halibut and blackened salmon were delicious and the service provided by Raphael was outstanding. He made sure we were out in plenty of time. A special perk for theater-goers, if you show your ticket and and vote stub, they reimburse you for parking. Also, our car was waiting in front after our show!

Catch 35 is a great alternative to other Loop icons. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner on the evening of the Chicago Marathon. Mussels, blackened swordfish and haddock were cooked perfectly. Waiter was candid, helpful and very attentive to wife's dietary restrictions (dairy, gluten and soy). Decent wine list with reasonable pricing. Nice atmosphere. Based on other reviews, it looks like food and service sometimes suffer for pre-theater dining, but for us it was a very pleasant experience on an evening when the biggest name alternatives were jammed. Definitely worth a closer look. Best tables begin about halfway back.

I thought the Catch 35 was nice but we didn't walk but two feet from the host stand to our table. Didn't see much of the Resturant but had people very close to us why they waited for their table at the bar and we tried to enjoy our meal. Even though, we really enjoyed the Seabass and tuna poke.

My husband dines at Catch 35 often however, we were all sadly disappointed with the food at our most recent visit. My husband and son were encouraged to purchase the Coho Salmon as it was "the end of the season". They both found it to be tasteless and "fishy". My meal, which I thought was whitefish was actually pan fried, dry and tasteless. This is a very elegant restaurant and our disappointment was unexpected. The best part of the meal was the Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi we chose for an appetizer. I also had the salt roasted beet salad which was very good though I don't really know how it could not be. I believe we will give it another try as we have liked it in the past. This was just a particularly bad evening.

Great restaurant with live jazz combo playing just loud enough to provide good background music. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was really good: Shrimp and Scallop Saute with rice was well seasoned with vegetables appropriately crisp, Chilean Sea Bass with Ginger cooked just right to preserve the light character of the fish, and the Scallops (with Risotto) were seared but still wonderfully tender inside.

I typically go to Catch 35 before the theater. Valet parking is free (though bring cash for the valet as that amount is simply deducted from your food bill). Great server and service from all. Presentation of the main course was nice, but the entree Halibut for all 3 of us was dry and over priced. Oysters, while tasty were on the small size for the $ paid. Beet salad certainly looked appetizing, but the beets were limp and not tasty. I am a seafood foody and hope to find a nice niche over Joes Stone Crab and Steak and Nicks Fishhouse or Hugo's, but was not the case

Service was quick, friendly and efficient. The Prix Fixe weren't necessarily a great bargain. You can get some of the selections for less than the $33.95. Fortunately they did adjust the bill when our selection came to less than the $33.95. The food was excellent. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend it. The flourless chocolate cake and the toffee pudding cake were outstanding. We were impressed that they asked if we would be going to a 7:30 or 8:00 play so that we would be able to make it. We were definitely out of there without feeling rushed to make our 8:00 play.

Lovely service and setting. Oysters were fabulous as was the lobster bisque. Unfortunately, the halibut was dry and the bernaise failed to cover up the dryness as it was lumpy and old. The amount of soy sauce on the lemongrass shrimp & scallops overpowered any discernable flavors - like the cap came off the bottle, but they served it anyway.

It's rather pricey, but we'll return if we can. A top-quality restaurant. Most people dress up but in fact the dress code is "casual" and you will see jeans. They were very accommodating with our delay and considerate of our theater time. The atmosphere was quiet, which we like, but upbeat in tone. Our waiter was very good, though busy. Yes, their specialty, the Chilean sea bass, is wonderful. Key lime pie was pretty good, not great. The wine selection is very good. The only flaws of the visit were negligible: (1) An annoying fruit fly pestered us; hard to fault the restaurant for that. (2) One of our wine glasses had a bit of soap suds; it had to be replaced. Catch 35 is outstanding; we recommend it.

My husband is picky like nothing you've ever seen. He loves seafood so I took him here for his birthday and vowed not to say anything if he special-ordered the same thing he always gets. But not only did he order off the menu and eat every bite, he finished mine. We had grilled halibut and lobster mac and cheese. Both were great. The dining room is maybe a little dated and it was loud, but it was fine. The great food more than made up for it.

We've eaten here before and it was excellent - th fish is outstanding - and this was the case again on this occasion. Because our Amtrak train was five hours late we would not have made our original booking, but I rang as soon as I knew and they were very accommodating, fitting us in an hour and a half after our original reservation. The only downside is they have live music which was piped to all areas of the restaurant - we were not the only ones who didn't appreciate this.

Our business group ate here last year and everyone left very impressed. This year, we had the opportunity to go elsewhere and Catch 35 was again the restaurant of choice. And, I would come back again! The service and food (especially the desserts) were outstanding. The noise level (this was a Tuesday evening) was just right and we had no trouble enjoying our conversations during dinner.

No other way to say it, the Salmon special was just bland. The pearl onion, mushroom glaze drizzled around the plate was the only item that added flavor. The signature Sea Bass with ginger was a little better, but would have benefited from a little more ginger. These were two of the most tasteless seafood dishes I've ever experienced. The server was excellent, but good service can't overcome tasteless food. This was our first visit and see no reason to return.

My husband and I noticed that it was more of an older adult place (we're a couple in our late 20s). We got seated ALL the way in the back of the restaurant and had a waiter who seemed to be nice, yet stuffy. We ordered our food and when it came to the table, we were surprised. My husband's plate looked sloppily put together and mine looked like just a piece of fish with an arugula salad. As we ate, I realized that my sweet pea risotto with poached egg were beneath my fish. My dish was tasteless and the poached egg was overdone (so much so that I was able to peel away the yolk). My husband's had a bit more flavor. For the price we paid, I was not expecting the quality of food that came out of their kitchen. We won't be coming back.
