Diner Reviews
  • "I was at Catch 35 two Saturdays in a row and had amazing dinners both times. We've been to Catch 35 in Naperville many times too and also love it. The staff is very nice and our service was very good."

  • "Sheila, the waitress that took care of us, was awesome! She took her time with us and explained the menu. We didn't feel rushed as we some do at other places. Will absolutely be back!"

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Catch 35. We both ordered fish and the entrees were wonderful, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The service was great! We'll be back."

  • "The timing between the salad and our entrees was excellent. Did not feel rushed. The lobster and salmon were both outstanding and well presented. Like that the entrees came with a potato and vegetable. It was a tie between the key lime pie and the apple tart."

  • "we had a 5 p.m. reservation for dinner and arrived a bit early. we only waited about 5 minutes for our table and were greeted right away. the appetizer, entree and dessert came out in a reasonable time frame, and was very good. our glasses of water were never empty and we were consistently asked by staff if we needed anything. the food was great and service was friendly and prompt. a wonderful date night, special occasion, or even family night out restaurant that's easy to find."

  • "My husband and I went here to celebrate my birthday. It was a really good experience. The service was great and the food was perfect. My husband is a chef and very critical of food when we go out. He thought the food was excellent."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Service was great. The fish was prepared fine but as someone who cooks fish, it was nothing out of this world. The jazz trio playing was enjoyable."

  • "The food is amazing there. The live jazz really makes it fun and its right on the river."

  • "The service was top notch, choices were solid and food was very good. For over 20 years this is a great restaurant where you can always count on a well cooked, well delivered meal. There are so many more dining choices now but Catch-35 is always a solid go to place."

  • "Loved the live jazz during dinner. Food was great. Fairly priced. Good service"

  • "This was our bi-annual visit to chicago, which for the last 4 yrs has included Catch 35. The meal was excellent as we relied on the waiter for his suggestions as we always had the same thing and wanted to change. He didn't disappoint, his help allowed us to select items which made this dinner the best ever at Catch 35, and that is quite a mouth full!!"

  • "This is not a place to write home about but if the major players are booked, this will serve as a decent meal."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Service was the worst Our waiter threw the menus at us and ran away We tip a glass of water on the table And no one bother to clean it up Food portions were small for the price"

  • "GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, NOT VERY ROMANTIC.....but the food here is awesome. Have not gone wrong on any of the entrees, Martha's Vineyard salad, oysters, enjoyed all of the food. Drinks are pretty good also"

  • "There is a reason why some restaurants survive in a city filled with many great dining options. Chilean Sea Bass is always excellent here. Weekend Jazz trio is smooth and entertaining. great Bar to hang in for an after dinner drink with your date. Most entrees are above average. Service is professional with just the right amount of attention. Pre fixe is just ok."

  • "Great food, great wine. We had a group of six, all of us had great meals."

  • "My girlfriend and I often eat at the Catch 35 in Naperville. They have outstanding food, service and a great romantic ambience. We had tickets to the symphony in Chicago, and thought we would try this location. We had great food, and the ambience was stellar. However, our waitress did not provide the same great experience we enjoyed in Naperville. She spilled a good portion of our presecco when she uncorked it. She did offer to replace the bottle, but I declined thinking that she would replace it with a different one after she poured our glasses. She did not. I believed Catch 35 should have compensated us for the loss of drinks from this bottle."

  • "From start to finish Catch 35 provided a wonderful dinner. There was not a miss-step the entire evening from the appetizers to desert. great service great food great fun"

  • "We were in the city for an overnight and I have eaten at Catch 35 before, in Chicago and Naperville. My husband and I love your restaurant, so I chose it for my daughter. She also loved it. Our waiter Chris was very friendly and didn't rush us but help us with our choices. My husband and I are coming back next Saturday before a show."

  • "Overall, the experience at Catch 35 this past Saturday was very positive. The service was excellent and the food was equally excellent."

  • "It had been several years since my husband and I have been back to Catch 35. The Alaskan halibut T- bone tasted like it was grilled right next to a steak on a grill. The flavor was amazing. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his scallops as well. We normally sit in the restaurant area, but this time we were seated closer to the bar area where they had a live jazz singer which was nice. We would prefer to sure in the restaurant area in the future if there is no live music due to the amount of foot traffic that walked past our table. We really like this place and will always go back."

  • "From the front desk, to the barman to our waiter and busboys. They did an amazing job taking care of us and making sure all was well. The food is stellar. Great single malt and wine selection. Highly recommend esp for pre-theatre outings"

  • "The hubby and I were visiting Chicago and I saw this place was rated highly on Yelp. In the mood for good seafood, we chose this place. I had fish and my husband had steak. Both were very good."

  • "Pecan pie was a little strange, halibut not very flavorful, yellow fin tuna poke was good. Loved the Brussels sprouts. Creme brulee was good. The wait staff was great, very accommodating. Nothing was outstanding regarding the food other than the fish was fresh and the menu is made according to the fish available for that day."

  • "It was great to have a great dinner while listening to the Jazz trio over a glass on wine!"
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "We had a party of 4 and were very pleased with our meal. Service was very good and our waiter most efficient. The fish portions were smallish but tasty. Prices were moderate to high. Drinks were generous pouring for "on the rocks""

  • "Some of the best fin fish in town! Also a destination for scallops. Knowledgeable wait staff. Lovely presentations. Yummy soups yummy - though ask about the ingredients if you are a vegetarian. Salads are delicious, but when we share, it would be nice if the wait staff divided it for us into two plates. We were recently at Catch 35 before a Goodman performance, and our wait staff got us out of there well in time for the curtain, without seeming to hurry. If you want to have a conversation, ask for a quiet table or booth in the back, away from the bar. We have taken out-of-town visitors to Catch 35, and they have always left happy. Note: You really must have reservations. We recently walked over after a Sunday matinee, and were disappointed."

  • "The food was good, service was ok... very slow bringing appetizer and soup. Oysters Rockefeller were the worst I've ever eaten and they did not give me the ice cream the was to accompany dessert. Entree and soup was their saving grace."

  • "Great date at Catch35! We made reservations based on reviews and was not disappointed. The crab cake app was tasty and full of crab, the scallops were well cooked and a large serving. The crab-crusted tilapia was a hit, especially the creamy sauce served aside it. To top it off we had Key Lime Pie for dessert, very rich and tart, just the way it should be. Our server was polite and entertaining the whole meal, great experience."

  • "I was hosting a dinner for 4 of my colleagues in town for business. Our reservation was for 7pm and the staff were very accomodating of our request to change the time to 5:45pm. The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful with our menu questions, providing suggestions that were excellent, suggesting appetizers and helping to make choices between entrees."

  • "Catch 35 is located within walking distance of Chicago's "Theater District" and only 1 block from the Goodman Theater. The food was excellent and fish selection was better than most seafood restaurants have to offer in Chicago. The service was friendly and prompt. Being foodies, my wife and I probably had the table with the best view in the house - right next to the large display case of all the fresh fish, lobster and crab! We enjoyed a nice pre-theater dinner that made the evening that much more special!"

  • "Made reservations online very easily. Received reminders prior to the date. There were 9 of us and all of us enjoyed our meals and the service. Great valet, that's reasonably price. We'll be back!"
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "The food was great. The service even better. They were expedient yet we didn't feel rushed, helping to keep us in time for the concert we were attending. It was my son's birthday and they brought him a piece of cake and ice cream with a candle. It was a special touch. Highly recommend."

  • "We were in town for a birthday weekend getaway and this was our first dinner outing. I'd been there before and chose it again for the music and the food. My sweetie (the birthday boy) is also a jazz musician. We sat up front to enjoy the live jazz while eating. It was awesome! The food, as usual, was excellent quality and very well prepared. Our server, Ann, was as gracious as ever. It's a great warm spot on a cold night ... or for that matter, ANY night! I will continue to come back and to recommend it to others."
