Diner Reviews
  • "Not only is the food great with wonderful service, but when they know you have theater tickets, they get you in and out on time. And the food is piping hot! Really nice atmosphere, too! Would highly recommend."

  • "This was our first time at Catch 35. The restaurant was quite lovely, but it was noisy! The food was good, but costly. We had two glasses of wine, 3 cocktails, one cup of soup, one appetizer, two entrees, and one dessert. The bill was $152.00. We had a drink at the bar after dinner and enjoyed a 3-piece jazz group with a singer. We enjoyed our evening, but I think I would probably not return."

  • "We often choose Catch 35 before going to The Goodman. They have free valet parking and the food is always excellent. Sunday night did not disappoint. We were not rushed, our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Water and wine glasses were filled without interrupting our conversation and eating."

  • "What a great place to enjoy awesome seafood. Great ambiance and service."

  • "Had a great experince here. Both the food and service were excellent!"

  • "Very disappointing. I did not enjoy the sea bass, which the waiter said was the most popular item on the menu. It was impossible to enjoy the fish with such an overpowering preparation. I really did not enjoy my selection."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "I was very pleasantly surprised. Service was prompt and thoughtful. I thought the prices would be a bit high but they were very reasonable. I will be returning."

  • "We went here before seeing a show at the Bank of America Theater (The Last Ship) and were psyched about the free valet parking for the duration of dinner and the show. Great deal for Chicago! The restaurant didn't make it clear that you had to notify your waiter about the show so he could then credit our bill the amount of parking ($12). So when we returned after the show, we didn't have our receipt and ended up having to pay for parking."

  • "Catch 35 was a great find recommended by the staff at the Burnham. The food was delicious and the service was great. We loved everything we had. The scallop appetizer was notable as was the tuna poke entree (if you appreciate raw fish. Our waiter Ann was excellent as well."

  • "Beautiful dinner at a great place. Catch 35 was very gluten free accommodating, bringing piping hot gluten free rolls to accompany the bisque. Soft shell crabs were delicious, and the fresh oysters were a fantastic starter. The service was really top notch, attentive but never intrusive. The pea risotto was a bit bland and paled in contrast with the garlic mashed potatoes. Dessert was delightful."

  • "We were able to get a last minute reservation on 4th of July weekend here. We were seated right away. Wait staff very attentive but not too much. The crab cakes were delicious but I am used to them being a little more crunchy. Yellowfin Tuna Poke was outstanding.! My friend had the Whitefish. He gave the mashed potatoes a so-so and regretted not changing for a rice. Overall a great experience."

  • "Great food with an excellent location within a short walking distance of Chicago's theatre district. We valet parked at the restaurant and left our car there while we watched the show."

  • "Had a good dinner on July 4th. Nothing about the meal really stood out ... Miso soup was very good. Thumbs up for accommodating my seared salmon request."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "My wife thought she was ordering a tuna steak and what she received was a lump of cold tuna. She ordered in error, but the dish was not appetizing. The oysters Rockefeller and Raw oysters were outstanding. The crab cakes were good. Overall catch 35 was average for the price we paid."

  • "Great choice. Wonderful food. Very conscientious wait staff. Our waitress kept us on time even though our entrees were delayed. My parents and partner all enjoyed the meal. Recommended!"

  • "I'd not been in many years because of the memories of fishy smells at the entrance. It was much better. Got there for lunch, not terribly full, but pleasant. A very nice waitress was very attentive. My birthday guest declined dessert, but the waitperson remembered and brought 1 scoop of Homer's cappuccino ice cream. The shrimp pad thai was delicious and the ice cream, heavenly. The only misstep was saying the soup was like manhattan style chowder. it was a creamy tomato based soup, delicious, but very rich."

  • "Catch 35 has a wide variety of fish and steaks. The fresh fish is displayed and Looks and smells great. Steaks are cooked to Perfection. Our service was the best I have had anywhere for years."

  • "I have been going to Catch 35 for 16 years now. Have always found the food and service very good whether for a quiet dinner with family or a business meal. Good seafood in a variety of presentations from simple to unusual but have never had a bad meal here. Important to be clear what ambiance you are looking for as the dining area runs from pretty lively by the bar area to quiet and personal as you move further in."

  • "Had a great dinner celebrating our anniversary! As usual, the Sea Bass was fantastic!!"
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "Two of us for lunch. My friend had the haddock which looked lovely and he loved it. I had the tuna nicoise, in which tradition was broken decisively. The little green beans were pickled. The little boiled potatoes were 4 or 5 bites large. Most of the greens were of the tasteless, variety. The dressing was non-existent. There was some raw onion. The tuna, however, was excellent. The room is comfortable, and the service very good. They just should work on the nicoise."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "I had the scallops which were delish! The portion size was perfect and the presentation lovely. I would recommend!"

  • "Very pleased with this location. We had an amazing meal and it was nice and quiet without a lot of children. If you are looking for a place with a little class and not a lot of noise then this place is for you. The food was amazing as well."

  • "Catch 35 is a part of every visit to Chicago; it has been our favorite restaurant in the city for many years. Service and food are always excellent. Great seafood and great preparations."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Although we went on a Sunday night, it was quite busy in here. Our waiter had a very large table behind us so was a little busy with them and took longer than normal to come back for our order. There were very limited selections for wine by the glass. My daughter ordered the scallops and I had the sea bass. The food came out promptly, hot and delicious except for the split pea risotto, which the consistency and flavor were not appealing to the pallet at all. We were going to a show so we didn't have time for coffee or dessert."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Went to Catch 35 for dinner with a friend from work. Lots of choices for fresh seafood! I got the haddock, and really enjoyed it. The beet salad w/ goat cheese was also excellent. Service was a little slow, and my wine arrived too long after my meal for my preference. However, for an after-work dinner, this is THE place to go for seafood."

  • "The atmosphere, décor and service were outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised to be treated to live entertainment by Dee Alexander (I am a personal fan). It was my birthday and dining at your restaurant was a wonderful way to celebrate the day. Thank You."

  • "This was a fantastic restaurant. Food delicious, server attentive. Great for pre theater. Walking distance to all the theaters. Had the Alaskan halibut...baked perfectly, pesto delicious, as was the salsa. Risotto out of this world. Chili an sea bass excellent too"

  • "Their soft shell crab is lightly battered in tempura. It is delicate and rich. Also their crab bisque is delightful with a hint of tasty herbs."

  • "I've been to Catch 35 twice and both times, the meals were delicious. They pace your meal so you don't feel rushed yet the staff was very attentive."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Food was decent but portions were on the small side. Waited at least 45-minutes to be served dinner after appetizers came out quickly. Party of 9 coordination is taken into consideration in wait time, however it shouldn't take that long for fish entree's."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "We went to the restaurant before attending a play which was nearby. The seafood selection and preparation was very good. Very large portions of fish. Overall, it was reasonably priced for a seafood restaurant downtown. It was not a particularly fancy restaurant. More of a casual place. Lots of tourists in shorts, but I guess that keeps them in business."

  • "We went to Catch 35 the day of our anniversary. We got there at 5:30 pm and we had theater tickets at 7:30 pm. We had a great waiter who said we could get out by 7 pm. I had king crab legs and my husband had the sea bass. Both dishes were delicious. My husband also had the oysters Rockefeller and they were wonderful, I ate one of his. For dessert we had a blueberry Panna cotta very good and they brought it complimentary bc it was our anniversary. When we left the restaurant it was pouring outside, no umbrella. My husband asked the one of the valet guys if we could borrow his umbrella, kidding. He said YES, so nice of him so we did not get drenched walking two blocks to the thater."

  • "Generally when I have an absolutely delicious meal, it is never as good the second time. The Chilean Sea Bass was even better the second time."

  • "we where place in the very back of the restaurant which filled up with a group.....not nice for 2 people and in front was space enough , dont understand that also food before wine and so on, great food, bad ambience"

  • "We selected Catch 35 based in part on reviews from Open Table. The ratings were consistent with our experience. My wife had filet mignon medallions and I had a bone in rib eye...both prepared as ordered and both tasty and tender. For desert I had the pecan pie, which was the best I've ever had. My wife had the pumpkin cheesecake and she was equally pleased! We dined after attending Motown (which by-the-way was exceptional) and arrived about 5:15 for a 5:30 reservation. Given we were one of the first to dine, our waiter gave us his undivided attention. As the dining area filled with diners, we continued to receive very good service from an attentive waiter."

  • "Our dinners with 2 drinks, shared apps/dessert, and tip were nearly $100 a person so this is not an anytime restaurant. Service on a Saturday night was a bit slow, where we waited quite a while to get any attention from our server after being seated. All the food was very good with especially delicious bread and dessert."
