Diner Reviews
  • "The service and hospitality were exceptional, along, of course, with the fresh seafood. The chocolate pudding cake was outstanding! I would highly recommend Catch 35 for any occasion!"

  • "Everything about Catch 35 was wonderful but the food. Too many flavors of sauces and toppings fighting with both our entrees -- scallops and a nicely seasoned haddock."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "We have eaten at this one and the one in Naperville before but had forgotten how outstanding this restaurant is. We are all foodies and like to cook ourselves so when we go out, the food needs to be special. Catch 35 is definitely special. Three of us had the signature dish, Chilean Sea Bass ...fabulous; the other had surf and turn, ditto. The theater and Catch 35 is a great combo for a special night on the town."

  • "This is a large restaurant that offers great sea food. I ordered scallops for starters and sword fish for entrée. Others in our group of 4 ordered soup and white fish. All dishes were perfect. We had to go to the Good man theater so we needed to complete our meal in one hour; it took quite an effort to get waiter to take our order. Once that was done, the food arrived quite quickly and we were done in 45 minutes. But we could not find the server to order dessert. So, keep this in mind if you have limited time. I would go back to this place again with more time."

  • "Catch 35 is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago and it has never failed to provide us with a wonderful meal and great dining experience."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Wonderful, wonderful. The Sea Bass, a waiter recommendation, was top notch. We also enjoyed the crab cakes and filet sliders. All in all, a terrific dining experience."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Catch 35 is a great pre theater restaurant and the valet service enables you to park once. The food is consistently good. But, the restaurant was full and many people were dining before the theater. We got there at 6 for an 8 show. Our salads were served while the appetizers were on the table. Then after the entrees were served the server seemed to disappear. Dessert was included in my guest's dinner and they had to rush through to leave in time and we didn't have time for coffee. I thought we'd allowed ample time but perhaps not on a theater night. It was disappointing for a very expensive evening."

  • "Four of us tried this restaurant after seeing matinee at a local theater. We found it a real delight, and, by Chicago standards, very reasonably priced. But the best part was the food. Great selections, wonderful preparatio and a waiter that knew his stuff. We will drop by again, next time we are in Chicago!"

  • "Dined at Catch 35 - only a couple of blocks from the Goodman. Food is fresh and Wine selection was very good as was the service. Pre-Fixe menu was offered and had a reasonably priced selection. Added bonus for theater goers - the price of valet parking is deducted from your bill and you can pick up your car after the show. Overall good experience and would recommend Catch 35."

  • "While in Chicago to watch a couple White Sox games, My wife and I dined at Catch 35. The food and service were excellent . The restaurant reminds me of many of the great seafood restaurants that we have in La."

  • "A very nice dinner in a prime location to see a show. We all enjoyed our dinners. My Chilean sea bass was nothing other than delicious. Perfectly prepared. I heard rave reviews over the bread pudding by those who ordered dessert. I, of course, drank mine. Kudos to the staff for asking if we had time restrictions. Nice touch."

  • "We had an early reservation, 6pm, for a quick dinner before heading to Goodman Theatre. When we arrived at the restaurant, our reservation was for the dining room, but the bar scene was so vibrant we asked to be seated there! Great atmosphere, live music. We had a great little 2-top by a large window. Fantastic service, our server made great recommendations and was always available when we needed her. I was surprised by how quickly the food came out too! We ordered the sweet pea risotto for an appetizer, then had the blackened salmon and the sea bass. Martinis were great as the wine list."

  • "We asked for a quiet table, but were placed next to a party of 8 that was celebrating and drinking. Our waitress, Liz, was a poor listener and orders had to be repeated. Lag between salad and entree was half an hour so we had to order desert then to be able to get to the theater in time for a show, which we told her about when ordering. The party to the left was so loud we strained our voices talking to one another of our party of four. We told our waitress of the noise, but it had to effect. The food was good, but the service and noise ruined the experience. We'll look for another place when going to the Goodman Theater."

  • "We had a fantastic dinner before our show at the Goodman! We let our server Derrick know that we were in a hurry and he did a great job serving our food quickly. The oysters were outstanding!"
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "The food is always delicious, the music was a bit loud for conversation, also, the food took a bit, but we had told the waiter we did not have a curtain to catch, so I'm sure they were focused on those customers first. Overall, fantastic."

  • "I had the halibut which was well prepared and presented. The wait staff was attentive to our needs. The bar scene is energetic. Great place for food, fun and meeting people."

  • "I have never written a review before but after the service we had Tuesday night I felt the need to share.... The food was wonderful as usual but the service was atrocious. The bus boy and runner certainly worked hard but our waitress was not attentive at all. She never asked how our food was, if we wanted more wine, brought my girlfriend a diet coke twice even though she asked for a coke. When we told her of her mistake she didn't even take it off the bill. She had no personality and just laid down the dessert menu and walked away without saying a thing. We were going to order another appetizer as our first two didn't fill us up but because our service was so terrible we couldn't because we would have missed our show."

  • "Great to go for dinner before theater... They valet your car for $12 then you just walk a few blocks. Car is waiting outside if restaurant when you return!"
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Expensive: 2 entrees, 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 appetizer, 1 beer.....$125. I expect a memorable meal when I spend that much but it was incredibly average. The blackened swordfish and the Maytag salad were very good. The scallop appetizer, seafood chowder, and salmon were just OK. Given the other choices in the area, I will be going elsewhere in the future."

  • "While the restaurant is large, where we were seated was a quiet spot. Our server was terrific, and we both really enjoyed our entrees. The fish was done just right, and the sides were very flavorful. A 'go-backer'."

  • "Discount parking with dinner and the choice of leaving your vehicle there while attending a Broadway production was an excellent idea. For this reason coupled with fine dining, I will be back."

  • "My husband and I dined here on July 11 2014. I had the sea bass & he had the shrimp surf & turf. The sea bass was served on a bed of risotto-like rice and grilled vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly. For dessert, sticky toffee cake. Amazing. Our server was phenomenal. There was a different person filling water and yet another who delivered/ removed our entrees. The service was just right: not too rushed, not too lacking. I would definitely dine here again. In addition, they asked us if we were going to a show so that they could validate our parking & ensure that we would not be late. That was much appreciated!"

  • "I really enjoyed Catch35. I thought the food was outstanding and fit for a foodie. The staff was attentive but not overboard. Everyone was friendly, even the patrons. A relative was visiting for a special occasion and it was a perfect choice for dinner. The bar area was nice with live instrument players...not too much. I would definitely go again."

  • "It was a very quiet Thursday evening. We started with drinks at the bar. My mojito was excellent. For dinner, I had some truly excellent baked clams (really mouthwatering) followed by a mixed greens salad. The salad was a mess completely soaked with vinaigrette. The waiter, who was extremely pleasant and helpful, took it away and brought a new salad, with dressing on the side, was worth eating. For the main, I had a Lake Superior whitefish (being in Chicago) which was slightly mushy but still very tasty. All in all, pretty good."

  • "We had a reservation at 7:00 PM and were 15 minutes early, yet they seated us within minutes. As quickly as we were seated, we were served ice water and fresh warm bread. The server was not far behind and took our drink orders. Upon returning with the drinks, he went through the specials and had answers for all of our questions. Salads, followed by dinner was quick and delicious. Overall, it was a great experience and we would go back there again next time we are in Chicago."

  • "We were visiting Chicago for the first time and decided to check out Catch 35 for our last dinner. From the time we walked in until the moment we left, it was a wonderful experience with awesome food and service. Definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in downtown Chicago."

  • "I would recommend Catch 35 as an excellent choice for pre theater dining. The food is fresh, well prepared and the staff is well trained."

  • "Not only is the food great with wonderful service, but when they know you have theater tickets, they get you in and out on time. And the food is piping hot! Really nice atmosphere, too! Would highly recommend."

  • "Again Catch35 met our expectations with a fine dinner and excellent service. We very much enjoy the non rushed well spaced servings of our dinners provide by our server, John. Time to enjoy some conversation with wine and an appetizer well before salads were placed, and the same for the entrees, and again with coffee and dessert. For sure we will be back for next season at the Goodman."

  • "We often choose Catch 35 before going to The Goodman. They have free valet parking and the food is always excellent. Sunday night did not disappoint. We were not rushed, our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Water and wine glasses were filled without interrupting our conversation and eating."

  • "We were able to get a last minute reservation on 4th of July weekend here. We were seated right away. Wait staff very attentive but not too much. The crab cakes were delicious but I am used to them being a little more crunchy. Yellowfin Tuna Poke was outstanding.! My friend had the Whitefish. He gave the mashed potatoes a so-so and regretted not changing for a rice. Overall a great experience."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Beautiful dinner at a great place. Catch 35 was very gluten free accommodating, bringing piping hot gluten free rolls to accompany the bisque. Soft shell crabs were delicious, and the fresh oysters were a fantastic starter. The service was really top notch, attentive but never intrusive. The pea risotto was a bit bland and paled in contrast with the garlic mashed potatoes. Dessert was delightful."

  • "Catch 35 was a great find recommended by the staff at the Burnham. The food was delicious and the service was great. We loved everything we had. The scallop appetizer was notable as was the tuna poke entree (if you appreciate raw fish. Our waiter Ann was excellent as well."

  • "We went here before seeing a show at the Bank of America Theater (The Last Ship) and were psyched about the free valet parking for the duration of dinner and the show. Great deal for Chicago! The restaurant didn't make it clear that you had to notify your waiter about the show so he could then credit our bill the amount of parking ($12). So when we returned after the show, we didn't have our receipt and ended up having to pay for parking."
