  • "We have been fans of the owners of Catch 122 for a long time (even back to their Indishpensible days). This time we invited a larger party (8 people), and they were all blown away by the fantastic food and awesome ambience. Although they had never been there before (didn't even know about it), they all became fast fans and will all return with their friends. I'm just happy we were able to show off Catch-122's exceptional food and service. Great Job!"

  • "I went here with my husband and our 7 month old baby. The food was delicious and the coffee was amazing! I had the duck confit poutine which was yummy. I love the decor and it is very spacious. There is a change table for baby too which is fantastic. I will definately be back."

  • "Food wasn't good and the open kitchen is not an asset. It looks unfinished. For example the fries are coming out of s bag and the smoky cheese in the poutine is very bad."

  • "Interesting menu, nice shared plates, needs more greens (like a basic salad!) Crab cakes were delicious. Only has 4 main courses and could do with a few more."

  • "The staff were friendly and the setting was urban fun. Overall the food was tasty and nicely presented. I'd recommend this for brunch or lunch."

  • "Ordered the poutine platter to share and everyone at the table quite enjoyed it. Crab cakes were under-seasoned, so a bit disappointed - not enough sauce given how thick the crab cakes were! Pork belly was not very crispy. Dessert was good. Had the pear tarte tatin; fellow diner had the bread and butter pudding - too dry at the top and too much of the sauce sitting at the base of the jar. The service here is very good. However, don't get the table by the window for four, though - we kept getting hit by the draft every time the door opened. Would still go back again - it's worth another visit and another look."

  • "It was good atomospher, lock of wine selection. Food tasted great; wish the main courses have more selection or have special main course on that day."

  • "I took a big group to brunch for my birthday and although many of them had walked by this restaurant, none of us had ever eaten there. We will be back! It has a great ambiance but more importantly, great food and service. You will not be disappointed."

  • "I made the reservation for 5 of us 1st timers at 5pm and knowing us I gave ample time for us to chat and eat before heading out to a paint night at 7pm. The architect was gorgeous, massive floor space, brick walls, wooden-style tables, slightly rustic feel, and nice dimmed atmosphere. The drink I had that night was mimosa. Delicious. The food was excellent, it wasn't too little or too much, just right for fine dining meal. I had truffled organic mushroom for appy, and mussels for entree which was EXCELLENT. Unfortunately, due to slow service, did't have time to order dessert. However one woman did and she ordered bread pudding and it was outstanding. Worth trying Catch 122."

  • "We went to Catch 122 for Vancouver Dine-out Festival. A great menu and wonderful tasting menu! The addition of wine pairing was a nice touch. We will definately return!"

  • "This place was adorable. Service was great and food was tasty. My only minor complaint was food was slightly under seasoned just needed a hit of finishing salt. I loved the open concept kitchen."

  • "I went during Dine-out Vancouver and feel that I definitely got a good deal but I wasn't blown away by any means. The appy smoked salmon was good but it didnt have as strong of a smokey flavour as I had hoped it was a little bland but the accompaniments did add a bit off oomph. They had fairly large size portions for all courses. Main was the arctic char which was cooked perfectly but was paired with a pile of peas, not that exciting and also rather awkward to eat. Then moved on to carrot cake as dessert it was moist and the perfect density, served warm with a sweet carrot puree and a dollop of cream cheese mascarpone icing if I am remembering correctly. It was a 3/5 dessert but really didnt fulfill the sweetness desire I have for desserts."

  • "Did a night of dine out Vancouver here with a party of 4. We all had different combos for our courses and each tried eachother's food and every little bit was executed wonderfully. Portion sizes were perfect; not too small, not overwhelming. Our server was attentive and had great energy. Will be back!"

  • "We ate at Catch 122 as part of Dine Out Vancouver. The 3 course meal was interesting. I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon starter. The "cassoulet" had an interesting twist - duck sausage and pork belly rather than pork sausage and duck confit. On a Saturday night, the cafe had a pleasant buzz."

  • "The service was outstanding. Staff was attentive and very friendly. They kept checking on us to ensure everything was fine which was great. We did not feel ignored or neglected. Though some of our parties came in late, the kitchen still tried to deliver all the dishes at the same time so we could enjoy as a group. I love this restaurant, though this is only my first visit. I recommend Cafe 122 for brunch and dinner. Great choice for dinner dates too if you don't want to feel too restricted or too formal- a wonderful choice."

  • "The food at Catch 122 was fabulous. The portions are not large but the coupling of flavors and textures was amazing. I was a bit disappointed that the Dine Out Menu did not feature even one item that I could go back and enjoy again - although having said that, I am confident that all selections are similar. My only comment was that once the waiter poured the initial glass of wine from the bottle we ordered - he didn't pick up the bottle again, even though he was at the table several times and should have noticed our glasses were either low or empty at times. He also did not return after we started our entrees to see if it was to our liking - the restaurant was not busy (during an at home Canucks game)."

  • "It was my first time at 122 and i already fell in love with the food and attentive service. Though the night was quite busy with dineout going on... we were well served and the portion is just right! Would go there again for the regular menu items. One minor downside is the noise levels, might need to raise one's voice when chatting. Hope the music level can be more soft next time...."

  • "The food was amazing! I had every single drop of sauce and bite of food cleared off my plate! Meat so tender and flavourful! Really nice restaurant. Great for date nights!"

  • "Four of us game for DineOut after liking the look of the menu. The beer selection and food was excellent. However, we felt rushed by the waitstaff; bringing the entree before I had finished my appetizer."

  • "This was our first Dine Out experience of the year. My roommate and I set up a double date and narrowed it down to this restaurant based on the menu and the fact that we had never been here before. Great decor, simple, spacious, nice lighting, exposed brick. Excellent service (Aeo helped make out night a success). Tasty food with a wide variety of flavours and choices that you don't find elsewhere (wild boar, beef cheeks, whiskey ice cream). Reasonable priced wine menu (although limited choices)"

  • "I was late to my Dineout reservation and was worried that my reservations would be cancelled. My friend arrived right on time and she asked if it'd be okay if she sat down first, telling the server I was at least 20 minutes late. She was served graciously and it turned out that I was late a full hour but the service was still impeccable! No single rush."

  • "Went there for dine out and was not expecting much as I have had bad fine out experiences but wanted to try it again this year. Catch 122 was amazing! Food was great every course of it! Everyone enjoyed their meals!"

  • "Restaurant was really good. Didn't get a chance to see the actual menu as we were there for DineOut, but the food was extremely. good. The mood and ambience were really great, but the noise level was pretty loud. Also, tables are seated a little close to eachother."

  • "Always busy, but never felt disregarded. As you walk in, promptly greeted, even if you are amidst the small crowd waiting for tables. Once seated in the hip and kind of bare bones environment, the cheerful server swooshes over to ask your choices. The best brunch I've had in years is what comes to mind while I savour my Duck Prosciutto Eggs Benedict. It was seasoned perfectly, eggs possessing finesse that you wouldn't normally associate an egg with, hollandaise sauce was light and airy but flavourful still, and even the side Yukon potatoes stole some thunder being a balance of crispy and nicely textured. This restaurant definitely caught my stomach, if not my heart."

  • "The atmosphere reminded me of being at a restaurant in Cobble Hill Brooklyn. It was the warm brick wall that dominated the room as you enter. The food was fantastic, from the appetizer to dessert. The service was excellent as well. It was Dine out Vancouver and the restaurant was full. We didn't feel rushed. The Owner even came over to check if we were happy with the food. We asked about the history of the neighborhood since we all grew up or visited the area as kids. He was very informative and obviously enjoyed his work. We even met his lovely wife, who was credited as the brains behind the concept of the restaurant, menu planning and website design. You go, girl! All in all, we had a great time."

  • "Appetizers and entrees were delicious, though one entree didn't seem as hot and fresh as it should have been. The dessert seemed thrown together by store bought, frozen foods. It was a very disappointing ending to an otherwise satisfying meal. The service was very good, and the helpful table visit from the manager was appreciated."

  • "They're very friendly and smiley, and absolutely patient and informative when it comes to explaining their dine out menu. I love their atmosphere and their awesome walls. Food was okay, I'm highly impressed of their lavender infused panna cotta I would definitely go back just for that!"

  • "Came here for dine out hoping for a nice meal, but the food was sub par! The pork looked like they went and picked it up from chinatown and plated it nicely. The food definitely needed some salt or seasoning, beyond bland. The upside was the service, warm and friendly."

  • "Horrible, inconsistent service timing. Average food--completely unmemorable. And an owner who blamed our dis-enjoyment on Dine Out festival (isn't that when Vancouver restaurants are supposed to really SHINE?). I can't think of any reason to return."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "It seems that "smoked" is in the French style. The majority of food here is smoked - the fish, the sausage, the meat. The Dine Out menu was quite tasty, so I will assume that anything else should be just as good here. The draft beer selection was very limited - a Belgian or Amber ale. The interior is cafeteria-styled - open and very simple, with a lot of wood furnishings. The atmosphere was verging on energetic that night, but as there weren't many tables to begin with, it didn't get very noisy. We could still converse over dinner comfortably. The service was quite prompt, in my opinion. Perhaps I didn't ask for many things and was not looking for my waitress all night. Food came out quickly with apt time spaces in between."

  • "Had the poutine platter for appy. It was average. Had the iron flank steak for main. The steak was cooked very well, however, it lacks flavoring. The mushrooms that came with it was overly salty. The pear dessert had a bit too much rum creating bitterness. A notch down would have made it better. Service was great though!"

  • "the menu looked interesting. Ordered the pulled pork poutine for a starter; was very dissappointed though. The potatoes were probably just McCain fries and the portion was small for the price paid ($10). The main was the flat iron steak. It was cooked perfectly to the level of done requested. I don't usually like parsnips, but these were the best I've ever had. Service was good, the interior decor is open with lots of wood elements that make for a warm ambience. I wouldn't go back though."

  • "Amazing food, very good value and friendly service. The NYE set menu is a steal. A well thought of menu, not the usual steak with seafood on top. My steak was full of flavours, perfectly cooked, and with interesting accompaniments. My date's porchetta is also rich and amazing. Overall very enjoyable experience and a fun night. We can't wait to go back for more."

  • "You close at 9PM and you took reservations at 815? Then proceeded to not serve our table with even drinks till 845 and told us last call was going to be at 930 for everything including dessert? None of our steaks were cooked well, and there was no one to speak to about this. What a joke and an utter waste of money. Only one person was serving all tables including making drinks! I could go on for a while but don't waste your night on this establishment."

  • "This restaurant was absolutely delicious! All the food was fabulous and service was great. Everything you would expect ftom fine dinning except dress and interior were casual and service was Exceptional but a more casual experience! Loved it and will go again!"

  • "The food was overall decent. But I find most bites a bit lacking in "freshness". Not to say that they use left overs, but their carb items (bread used for sandwich and the tortellini) felt like they've been left outside for a couple hours - they lack the succulence. Very good self-brewed ginger beer though."

  • "My first experience at Catch 122 was great! The service was very prompt and our waiter was quite helpful when describing the dishes. He mentioned the pork belly was very rich, and it was. The vegetarian gnocchi was also pretty rich, and just perfect for the holiday season!"
