We went here to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed! They had a decent alcohol selection (I got the rose wine and he got an IPA- in retrospect, I wish I tried the sangria, too) and each food item we ordered was divine. We almost wanted to lick the bowls with the pesto and smoked fish dips. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Kobe burger and I fell in love with the black spaghetti with clams. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

If you are adventurous with food, you will enjoy this dining experience. The hostess (one of the owners) and wait staff were excellent. We dined on a Wednesday when a fixed price 3-course dinner was offered with the price varying with the choice on entree. We chose the more costly $25 option which included a starter course (5-6 options), an entree (5-6 options) and a desert (2 options). The two of us ordered a total of six different dishes, all of which we well presented and very tasty. We will dine here again.

Have enjoyed Catalan a number of times in 2014 but just returned last week for their seasonal re-opening. Two of our party had the scallops - raved about them. One had the pasta and loved it (with fried egg on top), and I had the lamb shank - delicious! Bartender was extremely friendly and helpful as usual - all-in-all one of those restaurants where I bring foodies and others alike! Keep it up!

I am so happy to have stumbled upon Catalan. The staff was warm and friendly. The quality of the tapas was amazing. Sharing food with friends is so much more fun than ordering a single entree. I only wish they had more tapas on the menu. Anyone who enjoys great food and charming service will love Catalan

From the time we entered and were greeted by the waiting staff including the head chef, everything was perfect. Great drinks, great service thougjh the limited summer menu was absent of some of my favorites. Yet, as a full time resident we know of the summer struggle the restaurants go through and very much appreciate the good one like Catalan remaining open.

How wonderful to have such an inventive cuisine and informally elegant place to go in Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage! And the special price fixe menu was a real bargain! (Especially b/c you could get a glass of premium wine for just $5. I LOVED my tempranillo!) I had the bucatini sardino pasta entree, a wonderfully fresh mixture of salty and sweet ingredients. It was preceded by memorable appetizers (watermelon and pork belly salad was plentiful and fresh). My wife had a Kobe burger -- seemingly un-genre-friendly, but it was accompanied by Mediterranean-ized condiments (e.g., subtly pickled onions, rather than just raw ones; smoked sun-dried tomato relish, rather than just catsup). Would go back again gladly!

It's rare to find a restaurant where every dish is prepared well, served hot (or cold) and the ingredients are absolutely fresh. I haven't sampled everything on the menu but my goal is to try! Dining with friends, I sampled their entrees and each one was delicious. What a delightful discovery. Catalan is excellent in all regards. Congratulations to the chef and his team.

Although the hostess is Spanish-looking, the menu the night we dined there didn't really convey Spain, as the name Catalan implies. The food preparation was outstanding. But good bread doesn't require warming. Ours was hot. I was a little surprised there were no olives brought to the table with or instead of bread. Once the bread cooled to room temperature, it was fine and the pesto served with it was good, too. I'm just not familiar with Spanish pesto. As a non-meat eater, I could have used a few more meat-free options. The service was very good, even though the waiter had to explain that the kitchen had lost our food ticket. Service could have been excellent, lost ticket notwithstanding, if plates had not been removed without asking.

We went to Catalan during Palm Springs Restaurant Week, although we have dined at this restaurant two times previously. This was the best meal we have had at Catalan. Scallops that were tender, presented on a bed of roasted corn. Another person in our party had the steak, which he said was cooked to perfection. Someone else had the fish, which he also enjoyed. The side dishes were so generous that all four of us could share. We brought our own wine; there was no problem about having done so. Desert was a wonderful chocolate concoction that melted in the mouth. Service was attentive though not cloying. A great dining experience.

Restaurant week attracted us to the restaurant with little knowledge about the food. What a pleasant surprise. Food was outstanding and one of the the most memorable dining experiences in the desert. Menu selections were unique and varied. Main courses of Scallops and Cod, perfectly done. Ceviche was fresh, full of flavors and perfectly dressed. What's more, Wednesday was half price on all bottles of wine! Our server Kiersten was very attentive, personable and knowledgeable. She took time to answer questions, and talk about the food. Often time servers act rehearsed and scripted. I did not feel rushed nor ignored. Thank you.

Unfortunately, they were not serving any tapas on the dinner menu since they were only featuring their Restaurant Week prix fixe offerings (though you could order off of a limited tapas menu if you dined in the bar area). I was a little wary of being limited to the 3-course prix fixe menu, but everything was delicious! I had the romaine lettuce salad served with a crostini topped with anchovy, flat iron steak cooked perfectly medium rare, and the rice pudding topped with macerated strawberries. Hubby had butter lettuce wedge salad, serrano ham-wrapped cod cooked just right, and crema catalan. All the dishes were well-seasoned and we were more than satisfied with quality of food and service. Would definitely return.

We wanted to try a new place during our visit to Palm Springs since we would always go to safe, reputable places like Morton's or Ruth's Chris. I had to pick a place and I knew my kids love tapas and I, paella. When we got there, we were seated right away. We ordered steak skewers, bone marrow, chicken liver, calamari to start. My family loved all of these! We also had paella (was really good!) and the squid ink spaghetti but these took a while to come out and we waited a really long time for our entree. Because of these, we were given complimentary desserts. I wasn't so fond of the chocolate cake but the Valencia rice pudding was excellent! I'd love to come back to this place.
