Great food, great service. Unique menu options, all delicious. There were 3 of us. We arrived at 6:30 pm and the restaurant was fairly quiet. It was not long until it became evident that there are many people who have discovered this gem. We had visited Barcelona within the past year plus and we really wanted to experience some genuine spanish food. Everything we ordered we shared amonst the three of us. We started with the appetizer platted and followed with the Paella, a seared tuna, the brussel sprout and the potatoes. We had the aioli sauce and the spicy sauce with the potatoes and even though not advertised as Patatas Bravas they were a pretty close approximation to our taste. The wine selection was good but I don't remember the brand. We did not have room for desert... Highly recommended

Catalan had been recommended by some serious foodie friends, and it did not disappoint. We were dining with friends and decided to share some small plates and enjoyed the octopus, chicken livers and a salad, plus ordered a paella for the table. That left us room for dessert! We started with a white wine from Basque country, then had a delicious Ribera del Duero that was recommended. The service was prompt and attentive. Plus there was a guitar player out on the enclosed patio for some lovely ambience.

This was our third visit to Catalan in the past 2 months, each time bringing different friends. This evening was a little off, the wait staff was a little slow and our guests food was not cooked they way they wanted it. The food was taken back and returned to their liking, my husband ordered a 2nd glass of wine which was forgotten. We had ordered from the Prix Fix menu, a tremendous bargain for early diners. My husband has a favorite dessert that was not a choice on the Prix Fix however they were gracious enough to accommodate him with no extra charge. As we were leaving the owner followed us out the door and presented us with a gift card because of the inconvenience. Now that is a responsive owner. You can be sure we'll be back again soon.

We were there for a birthday dinner, we had a great time. The appetizers were great but what I had was extremely smokey for lamb I would lower the smoke taste to bring out more of the lamb taste. Our other guest had the Paella and they loved it. Overall we had a great time and would come back to try something else.

Wonderful service and great guitar music which only complements the food experience. The octopus and salmon were my favorites as well as the caesar salad. The dressing was something I would like to serve in my home. The wine that was suggested was the best Chardonnay that I have had for a long time.

We discovered Catalan during restaurant week last year and what a great find. All the food is interesting and delicious. We go out once a week and we find ourselves going to Catalan more than twice a month since we enjoy so much about it. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet but everything I have tried is great. We love 1/2 price bottled wine Wednesdays! But we go other nights of the week as well.

We wanted to go somewhere for a special "last night" meal before leaving Palm Springs and we were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped through the doors and were warmly welcomed the whole evening was superb. We sat in the courtyard which had the benefits of being outside but sheltered and the perfect setting, but wherever we had chosen would have been lovely. We perused the menu and with difficulty of knowing what to opt for, we made our choices. I had a couple of glasses of sangria which were delicious and from the bread and pesto at the beginning of the meal to the Spanish coffee at the end it was a perfect meal. We also commented that unlike many American restaurants we were not rushed and the meal was well paced. Perfect!!

Find a restaurant that can serve you a roasted marrow bone and it will be Catalan. What a delight. Everything was good--the bibb lettuce wedge, the smoked lamb shank with the best spaghetti squash I've ever had, the pesto served with the bread is amazing, and the warm chocolate cake topped off everything to perfection.

We've eaten here before but the new menu is better than ever. Our party of 4 were all happy with our choices, the 2 course menu for $24.95 was a bargain for outstanding food. I loved my ahi tuna, the others thought the scallops were great. The starter salads were good but best of all was the Catalan cream desert. Try it you'll love it.

Only one of our party of 4 was pleased with her entrée selection. The scallops were nice; the tuna was good quality, but flavorless. Two of us had paella (which was what lured us to drive cross-valley in the first place). The rice was overcooked and very greasy. Granted, that may be the Catalan style, and just not right for us with the chorizo totally overpowering the seafood. We did enjoy our tapas, although the paquillo peppers with goat cheese would have benefitted by charring to bring out their flavor. On the plus side, the atmosphere is pleasing and the service excellent. High spot of dinner was definitely the desserts...light and refreshing and artistically presented. We will try Catalan again, but skip the paella.

We went here to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed! They had a decent alcohol selection (I got the rose wine and he got an IPA- in retrospect, I wish I tried the sangria, too) and each food item we ordered was divine. We almost wanted to lick the bowls with the pesto and smoked fish dips. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Kobe burger and I fell in love with the black spaghetti with clams. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

If you are adventurous with food, you will enjoy this dining experience. The hostess (one of the owners) and wait staff were excellent. We dined on a Wednesday when a fixed price 3-course dinner was offered with the price varying with the choice on entree. We chose the more costly $25 option which included a starter course (5-6 options), an entree (5-6 options) and a desert (2 options). The two of us ordered a total of six different dishes, all of which we well presented and very tasty. We will dine here again.

Have enjoyed Catalan a number of times in 2014 but just returned last week for their seasonal re-opening. Two of our party had the scallops - raved about them. One had the pasta and loved it (with fried egg on top), and I had the lamb shank - delicious! How wonderful to have such an inventive cuisine and informally elegant place to go in Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage! And the special price fixe menu was a real bargain! (Especially b/c you could get a glass of premium wine for just $5. I LOVED my tempranillo!) I had the bucatini sardino pasta entree, a wonderfully fresh mixture of salty and sweet ingredients. It was preceded by memorable appetizers (watermelon and pork belly salad was plentiful and fresh). My wife had a Kobe burger -- seemingly un-genre-friendly, but it was accompanied by Mediterranean-ized condiments (e.g., subtly pickled onions, rather than just raw ones; smoked sun-dried tomato relish, rather than just catsup). Would go back again gladly!
