Catal Restaurant & Uva BarCrab fest? Not so much.....We booked because Catal advertises "June crab fest", like it means it. On arrival, with no crab items on the menu, we enquired, to be told there was a soup of strawberry gazpacho, with lump crab meat! That was it! Sorry, but that didn't cut it! We decided to stay , anyway, having made the trip from Aliso Viejo, and in truth the menu turned out to be quite good, and the food very acceptable, with a good view from the balcony to watch the fireworks of Disney. Just don't mislead people with false advertising!
Food arrived too quickly in succession, but at least the waiter told us, we could relax and wait for the fireworks, which was a nice touch.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food plus fireworksSix of us had an extraordinary meal. We sat on the patio and had a great view of the goings on in Downtown Disney. We brought wine with us and there was no corkage fee. The waiter did a very good job getting the wines opened and poured, providing plenty of glasses. All of the food was great. I loved the tiger shrimp and the strawberry crab gazpacho. As we relaxed over coffee, (French presses with a choice of coffees) we got to watch the fireworks from Disneyland. Catal is a great restaurant and Chef Stephen Mary provides delicious and creative food.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality cuisine in Downtown DisneyI recently had dinner at Catal, which is arguably the best restaurant in Downtown Disney. Good bar & wine list, good food, and good service. Although the restaurant is far from being one of the best underneath the Patina Group umbrella, it surely satisfies the need for "a good night out" at the Disneyland Resort. Our server was able to accommodate to the needs of some guests with special diet restrictions, and offered suggestions & substitutions. A manager assisted opening bottles of wine that we brought, decanted & served it, which impressed my guests. Service was very attentive but not obstructive. Entrees were served timely and well paced. I suggest the outdoor patio at night, where you can catch a glimpse of the nightly fireworks.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAsk for the specials!Catal has a great menu but also has nightly specials. Be sure and ask before you order as you may find a fish, steak or lamb dish that is just great and you wish was on the regular menu. Also, the strawberry sorbet was just the right amount of sweet to end the meal.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGOOD SEAFOODGood seafood. Loved the way it was prepared and how everything was set up. Server was a bit busy and was somewhat rushed but overall a good experience5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary MealWe celebrated our anniversary here and watched the fireworks over Disney while dining. The food was great!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in the Disney ResortThis restaurant is probably the safest choice duirng your stay in Disney Land Resort. Food in both Disneyland and California Adventures are pretty bad that if you wish to have something better for the dinner, this place is nice. It's not the best in town but probably the best with in the Disney resort.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'd be hard pressed to haveYou'd be hard pressed to have a better dining experience at Disneyland. Innovative menus are the hallmark of this chain and Catal is a great example. Outstanding wine list with heavy focus on California with several well priced bargains. Well trained and focused wait staff. We ended up in the small front room with several families. It was bit noisy and ask if we could move to the main dining room. The answer was, no problem. Being on Open Table is a great assist considering most of the restuarants at the resort don't take reservations or you need to go thru Disney resorts to get one. Being pressed for time with vacationers makes Open Table even more valuable.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing. Noise wasFood was amazing. Noise was only moderate because we ate outside overlooking Downtown Disney.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBest choice for dinner inBest choice for dinner in Downtown Disney. Choose a balcony table which is above the crowds and very enjoyable for dinner.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu is continually updatedMenu is continually updated with new dishes. This is the hidden gem in Downtown Disney, outstanding food, reasonable pricing, no corkage fee and excellent service, a totally different experience from the other tourist orientated restaurants in the area. This a a return to place for a relaxed, high quality dinner, in a fun atmosphere. Eat inside if you don't want to hear the music of DTD. Or on the balcony and watch the people below walking aroudn and listen to the music. Highly recommended, one of the best of the Patina group of restaurants.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Restaurant at Downtown DisneyWent with girlfriends. Had a very nice time. Sat on the patio.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOur fifth year in a row toOur fifth year in a row to Disneyland and five satisfying visits to Catal. Best overall dining experience in Disneyland. Better food and wine choices then the exclusive Club 33. We have been fortunatte to have the same server for 4 out of five visits which fuurther demonstrates the quality of the establishment.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNew menu for spring is a hit!Great new dinner menu. The scallops are excellent. Can't wait to try more items. Best place to view the Disneyland fireworks from Downtown Disney on the second floor terrace. The Manchego salad with arugula, apples, dates and walnuts is always a winner. Great servers and welcoming staff.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat opportunity for adultsGreat opportunity for adults to have a genuinely good adult meal even with kids present as a respite from the lines and crowds of Disneyland. Gave us a chance to recharge before heading back to part two of our 15 hr Disneyland day...3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and service.Very good food and service. All 3 diners were happy with the Gnocchi, Scallops and Salmon. The potato and Sausage app was very good as well.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCatal is a great spot to dineCatal is a great spot to dine and wine. The food and wine selection is SUPERB! The ambiance and view from the Patio is spectacular. The service is unsurpassed. We had a special dietary need (Glutten Free) and Catal was able to accomodate it.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe hidden gem of DowntownThe hidden gem of Downtown Disney. Not a tourist restaurant, this is the real deal and more upscale. The restaurant is upstairs, on the balcony you can overlook Downtown Disney, but have the noise to deal with, inside it is quiet and elegant. The menu selections are excellent and the preparations excellent. The wine list is very good and their "no corkage" policy is an attraction to return, return, return. But, take a good wine that pairs well with food. Service is attentive without being over the shoulder. We go there whenever in the area, not for Disney, but for the outstanding food and you get 3 hours of free parking as well. Highly recommended2/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood location, nice menuGreat food, we sat outside over downtown Disney and enjoyed the atmosphere but also could enjoy each other as it was not distracting to be over the crowds.
Since it is so close to Disney, Catal is kid friendly but the menu is somewhat mature.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
