Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious food, excellent service, nice atmosphere- what else is there? but make a reservation..."

  • "One might expect a restaurant in downtown Disney to be a typical chain store restaurant, like a BJ or an Olive Garden. However, this place is a gem. I must commend Disney on their customer service. The waitstaff here was incredibly polite, helpful, and energetic. We had a number of different servers check in on us throughout our meal. The food, to my unsophisticated taste buds, was delicious. I admit I have not had the pleasure of traveling to Spain yet, so I actually am not very versed in Spanish food. I love tapas-- all their small plates had small portions. Perfect for me, but if you're a hearty eater you may want to order more. Bacon wrapped dates are delicious here-- one of the better places for it. Warning- kids. Loud kids. "

  • "Our server was very good. The host gave us a menu that was labeled "Gluten Free." When I started ordering from that menu, my waitress asked "Can I see your menu?" She took a look at it and said "This is not. Gluten Free. It says Gluten Free, but this is the regular menu. I will go and get you the correct menu!" I really appreciated that. I loved that she knows both menus so well, that when she heard what I was ordering, she stopped me mid sentence and corrected the situation. I absolutely cannot have gluten! Most places I go to do not know the difference and would of given me food with gluten in it. The food was out of this world. So fresh and so good! Everyone should go! If it's nice outside, request to sit on the patio!"

  • "Love eating here every time we come to Disneyland. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner all have delicous offerings."

  • "What a great dinner! We've had hit-or-miss experiences with Catal in the past, but this meal was definitely a hit. The food was delicious and well-prepared, there was enough variety on the menu to satisfy our entire party (there have been times in the past where it seemed like a much more limited spectrum of choices), the wine list has been upgraded and expanded, and of course it's always great to dine elegantly while people-watching Downtown Disney below. Keep this up, Catal, and we might just have to start dining with you more often!"

  • "Very ordinary nothing exceptional. Typically overpriced for a Disney property venue. Next time will return to Napa Rose in the Grand Californian where I know I will receive an extraordinary meal ."

  • "We love returning to Catal. The staff makes us feel so welcome. We celebrate many special occasions there. This visit was an anniversary. We will be there at least twice in April....once for a birthday and once for Easter."

  • "Really good food. We went one night upstairs and one night down stairs. Both were really good and will definitely go back."

  • "And options appealing to adults and kids. Prices maybe on high end of what is offered in parks or in Downtown Disneyland but a very welcome break from that madness and best food of the restaurants we sampled in Downtown Disneyland."

  • "We heard about Catal from a friend and since we were in Anaheim for my birthday we went. It was nice but we were really rushed through our meal and the restaurant was almost empty inside and just a few parties outside. It was a beautiful place and I would have liked to enjoy it. We receive our first course before our appetizer. The soup was luck warm and not as good as it sounded. The paella was just okay for very being very expensive."

  • "This is my first year with passes to Disneyland and this is my first time really experiencing Downtown Disney. We love Catal, it is a great place to go for a great meal after a long day @ Disney with the kids. They have a wonderful prime rib special that I usually always gravitate too. This time I went for the roasted pork and it was so juicy and mouth-watering. They have large tables so your kids can play and the adults can have some wine (no corkage fee). Service has never been an issue...always sincere and nice."

  • "This was a lot better than I expected. I assumed that since it was Disney, it wouldn't be that good. Shame on me. I made the reservation via Open Table and didn't know it was inside Disneyland and then as we got closer we realized it was. It's in the area that you don't have to pay to get in - FYI. Service was fast and friendly but the atmosphere was dark and mellowing. The suckling pig is a MUST - crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Mushroom soup was decent but I've had better. My friend wanted the lobster paella or the mushroom risotto but they were out of both, He did enjoy his lamb pasta though. If you're in the area, I suggest you stop in or you'll be stuck with the zillions of chain restaurants in this area of Anaheim."

  • "One of the better restaurants on the Disney properties for a nice sit-down quality meal; took awhile for waiter to take our drink orders and then our dinner orders; wasn't sure if he had too many tables or his area was too large to cover for a slower night (restaurant dining area was very large); he was very personable and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. Was surprised how quickly our entrees came out since we had not finished our appetizer. Would return again to try other things on the menu."

  • "Were there on the only two RAIN DAYS that CA has had in forever, So we took a break from the theme parks to dry out and went to Catal. First, our server Leah was amazing! We were the only ones there but by the time we left, the room overlooking Disney walk was full. She was knowledgeable about everything on the menu: the food and preparation, wines, and beers. She was amazing! Got the chance to do the 3-course OC pre-fixe menu. Delicious fish. My husband had the chicken and loved it as well. If we were in the LA area again, we would definitely return to Catal. We were just sad that we couldn't sit outside but know CA needed the rain! :) Thanks for a nice evening."

  • "The food is okay. I don't know what it is, but the short rib and sea bass were just not impressive. Seabass dish-- the potatoes and tomatoes with the seabass was an interesting mix of flavors that I wasn't too fond of, but ate it anyway because it cost money. Short rib was pretty good, but it was a little dry. The sauce they use for the short rib is very strong. The spiced Spanish ice cream was weird. I like my ice cream sweet, so it was just not my type of ice cream. They gave us oil for the bread in the beginning, but for some reason, they didn't put vinegar in it. So we asked for the vinegar later. It was delicious though. The ambience is great outdoors on the patio with the disney street music playing."

  • "Good place if you are at Disneyland but not worth a special trip. The tapas and first courses were excellent - we tried the bacon wrapped dates, the frittes, and the stuffed peppers. There was a good selection of kids meals for the two children in our party of seven. Service and ambiance was very nice. Downside was the paella. It was terrible."

  • "Had dinner with several work colleagues and really enjoyed the food, from apps to dinner, it was excellent. Service was attentive and the outdoor dining patio was a great atmosphere."

  • "been there several times always good food. Bar and table service were a bit slower than I would have liked and they weren't slammed. Great eating out on the terrace overlooking DT Disney"

  • "My husband I ate there and they put us in a separate room with a large group of people that were very noisy. The food was good, but we could hardly hear ourselves talk. Even the servers stated it was noisy!! Kind of spoiled our dinner."

  • "The food was great, although I could have used more portions or maybe I'm just the typical American that loves to eat and eat. The view was great. I hear that you can see the fireworks show if you happen to be there on the second floor balcony. the host was very pretty and the waiter was very professional. We had open table seating and requested an outside patio, but for some reason it didn't show up as a request to be placed on the balcony. So the manager came and offered to find us a nice balcony seat if we were willing to wait a little bit. So we did and the restaurant come through. good experience overall."

  • "I love the Chicken Paella here. I went here for my birthday and I got the paella and the prime rib. The only hindrance I had was there there was only one server apparently going for what it seems like from one end of the restaurant to the other and it took a while to get our food ordered and getting our check and getting soda. We were not displeased, we understand how hard it could be to be the only server in the restaurant, but I just recommend a little help for our server that day. Thank you. Still love the place and still plan to go back."

  • "This was a business dinner, and we were seated at a lovely table in the round room upstairs in the top of the restaurant. We had an gorgeous view of parts of Downtown Disney and could even see the fireworks. The wine list was superb and had many great selections to choose from. The food...Oh the Food!!! Everything was cooked perfectly and was packed with flavors galore! Everyone enjoyed their dishes and had no complaints throughout the evening. The service was excellent, and our needs were exceeded as well as our expectations every step of the way! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place when dining out with clients or for a romantic date. Overall, I'd give it a 100% rating our experience from beginning to end!"

  • "I signed up for Patina Restaurants Group's mailing list and received a $30 certificate to use on my birthday. I've been two of their restaurants with fantastic food experience. I knew I was in for a great food experience. It was a little chilly that night so we opted to sit inside instead on the outdoor balcony above Downtown Disney. They sat us next to the bar and spent the first half of our dinner repeating ourselves as the group at the bar started getting louder and louder as they drank - not what I was expecting for my birthday. I was almost tempted to move outside. They finally were seated and it was much nicer. Note for next time, do not sit next to the bar. The food was really great and will be back again. You have to try the pork!"

  • "I came here with my sister before she ran the Tinker Bell 1/2 Marathon. The fish she ordered was very good. My prime rib was just ok. The bikini sandwich appetizer was excellent as was my honey cucumber lemonade. The arroz con coconut was very good also. Meghan was our server and she was friendly, helpful, and gave us good service."

  • "Food is always prepared well, the kitchen is responsive to special requests (low salt), great fresh fruit (just ask for it!), and a wonderful view of the Disneyland Fireworks. Had a special entree for the 5K and half-marathoners, but the scallops won out!"

  • "Our service was excellent and our server took extra time to accommodate extra friends who arrived later. Food was very good. Would recommend."

  • "Nice restaurant that doesn't require dressing up in downtown Disney. Free corkage a big perk, brought a half bottle of cab with now problem of opening and pouring. Got the prime rib special for December, very good. Got out in time to catch the fireworks at 9:30 pm. Will return."

  • "Not many choices for dinner in Downtown Disney but it was a nice experience. Dessert here (Bread Pudding) was very good and would order again if we return."

  • "The name of the restaurant, Catal, made us think of Barcelona, in Spain, with its vibrant tapas scene. However, this restaurant does not really have a tapas menu. The food was good...hangar steak, scallops and arugula salad, but were not Spanish tapas dishes."

  • "Cattal is a great place to meet up with friends. The Uva Bar is always hopping and the restaurant has a great atmosphere and great food as well. The special that night which was sea bass was exceptional and the salmon was just as delicious. Would definately recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fancier, sit-down dinner in Downtown Disney."

  • "The good: scallops, lamb rack, pepper and goat cheese appetizer all fantastic. Server was friendly and wanted to be helpful The bad: paella - no flavor whatsoever. Just a piece of chicken on top of colored rice. Server, although good overall, was stretched too thin, meaning drinks came late, a request for salt was forgotten, etc."

  • "We enjoyed the setting a little cold in the restaurant since there was only 3 of us we were relegated to the side room. Food was ok the paella needed more ingredients like shrimp and a shell fish . I expected better."

  • "Disneyland is near my in-laws' house, so my wife and I make a point of having a "date night" out at Catal whenever we can. The food is always good and the service friendly and knowledgeable. We always enjoy ourselves there, and would even if it weren't in the middle of Downtown Disney."

  • "One of the better restaurants in the area. Very busy of course so better make a reservation. Large varied wine list. A treat after visiting the parks and having to eat churros and fast food all day!"

  • "A mere steps from the entrance to Disneyland, in an otherwise tourist trap location called Downtown Disney, Catal offers an oasis of calm ambience and fine dining. Step inside, although like all things Disney - the wait can be long, and disappear from the maddening crowds to enjoy a formidable menu of international cuisines. A good wine list as well is available to compliment the experience. Highly recommended."

  • "My daughter and I shared a very nice dinner here, away from the mad crowds and prams at most of the Disney eating places at this time of year. Immediately we were in a no rush zone with a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time it was a fine dining experience. Portion sizing also was generous without being too large. Booking ahead from Australia was a bonus as we walked straight in with only a couple of minutes wait before being seated. Our waiter was extremely friendly, very experienced and made you feel welcomed. Value for money was good."
