Castle Hill InnNo better placeIf you would like to have a great meal eating outdoors on a beautiful patio with a priceless view of Narragansett bay, sailboats, and the majestic Newport bridge - where kids can run around and feel comfortable on the lawn - this is the only place.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a special occasionPerfect for a special occasion or a romantic getaway.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place to spend an eveningThe castle hill inn was divine. The hostess to the waiters were very nice and helpful. The food was delicious . My favorite thing was picking out wine from their exceptional list.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Special ServiceWe went to Castle Hill for our anniversary on Sunday brunch. Flowers we ordered were on the table, everyone knew it was our anniversary and greeted us, manager came by for special greeting and offered us complimentary drink while we walked outside and enjoyed the music and view. Food was very good, setting is spectacular. All in all, a very memorable meal.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBreathtaking!Everything about the reservation exceeded our expectations! We went for brunch for my mom's 60th birthday. She was impressed. Had a mimosa on the lawn before we sat. The food was fantastic, the view was breathtaking, the service topnotch. Will be going back sooner than later. No need to go just for a special occassion, just go! You will be glad you did.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch I've ever hadBeautiful views of Newport. Great food and service. Live music. Can't wait to go back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, amazing dinner and view!We loved Caste Hill and its wonderful food, amazing view and service! We celebrated our engagement on Saturday night and Dan & team truly made it a memorable experience. Thank you!!!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful & superb dining experieceA very special part of our Newport experience. Lovely inn & setting. Excellent menu & wine list. Every seat has a nice view of the water. I had foie gras and scallops. My husband had scallops and a fillet. We both had the wine pairings, which were excellent. My 21-year-old daughter and her friend had lobster risotto, starting off with scallops and red pepper soup, respectively. For dessert, we had the chocolate souflee the blue cheese cheesecake. We all thought every dish was superb. Our waiter was wonderful, as were the other wait and inn staff. The chefs are to be congratulated, as this experience competes with top restaurants in any major city. The inn is warm and welcoming and the setting could not be more beautiful.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPicturesque ViewAbsolutely beautiful brunch right on the water with the perfect view, and our waiter was great. We of course had the chowder and lobster, and everything was delicious! I would definitely go back here, and recommend this to anyone travelling to Newport.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNot all it could beWhile the food was quite good here (though NOT as great as it should be for a Relaix & Chateaux), the real issue was service. Our overly-familiar waiter glad-handed guests at every table. But he did not focus on basic and crucial things like refilling water (even when we asked it did not come and I doubt we finished the bottle of Pellegrino we paid for), replenishing wine and generally assuring the smooth flow of a 5-course tasting menu. Other staff from the kitchen (the ones actually doing the serving) seemed anxious, understandably so with no one in command of the tables. By the end of the evening we assumed our water had left as the check was presented by another staff member. Turns out we saw him at the bar as we were leaving.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't Beat the ViewsBeautiful views and grounds. Service was great, we showed up quite later for our reservation and they were very accommodating. Food is good, not outstanding but good. You're paying for the views.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful spot overlookingBeautiful spot overlooking the ocean. Bit pricey, but worth it for special occasions. Friendly service, food well-prepared and presented5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Pleasurable ExperienceCastle Hill never seems to disappoint its customers. As a previous employee of the hotel, it was joy being able to return with my family for a lunch that was pure excellence from the quality of the food to the welcoming and knowledgeable staff. This restaurant is truly a gem of Newport, offering an exquisite dining experience unlike so many other restaurants throughout New England. I would highly recommend anyone to come and enjoy the glamour of Castle Hill for themselves. It really is an restaurant worth visiting.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best Food in NewportMy elderly parents and I had the best dining experience at Castle Hill. The staff is super nice, the scenery priceless and the food was excellent! Although pricey, it was so very worth every penny. If you are trying to decide where to go while visiting Newport then definately choose Castle Hill.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrateI celebrated my 40th birthday here and it was a perfect evening I won't forget! The menu was delicious, the wine pairings spot on and the lighting storm over the water spectacular.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMJersey travellerThe venue was undoubtedly beautiful! Gorgeous view of the water. The staff were friendly and informative. However I was slightly disappointed with the food. Our entree came out room temperature. It was as if our food had been ready in the kitchen but the staff must've been busy and didnt get a chance to bring our food out right away. I expected perfection from a high end restaurant. Unfortunately it fell short on the food for me. I did love their scallop appetizer and chocolate soufflé though.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNice except for construction.Great service and food, but construction all around the building dampened the experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday BlissMy girlfriends took me to Castle Inn for my Birthday luncheon. WE had the best time and the food, view and service were exceptional!! Can't wait to return!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFive stars across the board! My family and I recently dined at Castle Hill Inn on a friends recommendation and it was nothing short of perfect. We were celebrating a graduation and a birthday and were congratulated right on arrival. Our waitress was very kind, knowledgeable, attentive to detail, and available when needed without being overbearing. We all had appetizers that ranged from Kielbasa to Scallops which were all amazing. My main course was the Lobster Roll with a side of fries which was the best lobster roll I have ever had in New England. Overall, the service, beautiful setting, and great food are reasons I recommend this restaurant to my friends and and family and look forward to returning soon!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the best on the islandSince the Relais et Chateaux takeover, this has become one of the best tables in town. Marrying an already exquisite setting with food worthy of what have always been prices near the top of the local market, thus is my favorite. Far from the madding crowd downtown, one can almost always get a table in the evening. During the day, it is packed and the bar crowd spills over onto the lawn.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Romantic Mother's DayMy wife and I enjoyed our evening at the Castle Hill Inn Restaurant. It was perfect for our Mother's Day celebration, with great food, a marvelous view of the bay with ocean liners and small vessels cruising out to sea, and the serenity of the water added to the ambience. A great romantic evening. In addition, our server, Brian, was outstanding.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchCastle Hill Inn is hard to beat by any standards and Mother's Day was no exception.
Although a buffet is not usually my preference, this one was handled beautifully, beginning with the selection of 3 appetizers brought to the table and the menu listing the buffet table's options, to the truffle at the end of the meal.
The view was spectacular, an important enhancement to the delicious food.
We felt comfortable and relaxed on a day that is typically crazy busy in the restaurant world, partly thanks to our waiter who didn't seem harried or hurried.
Some of the food on the buffet table was not hot enough to suit my taste, but that's a very small blip in the overall experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial placeThe Inn at Castle Hill is a great dining experience. Unfortunately when we were there it was raining and foggy and therefore, no view, which is part of the reason you go there. The service is wonderful.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant SimplicityHaving fewer choices and set courses made the dining experience effortless. The food was inventive and delicious.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and dining experienceI took my daughter and family to this lovely restaurant to celebrate her 1st communion. We were 45 minutes early for our reservations and to our surprise were accommodated within minutes of our arrival with a a table with a great view. The food on the luncheon menu was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. I had a lobster sandwich and it was by far the best I have ever had. The only negative was our waitress. She was slow and disorganized. I am assuming she may have been new. However, the rest of the staff took note of this and helped us with whatever they could take care of. A lovely day was had by all and I am sure will be a beautiful memory for my daughter. We definitely plan on returning!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWent on Sunday and wasn'tWent on Sunday and wasn't told it was a Brunch menu was a little disappointed but the staff made up for it.
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the view and the ambience.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile the ambiance, service,While the ambiance, service, and food were all excellent, the restaurant fell a tad bit short on being on par with the best (which in my opinion is Le Bernardin). I think the portions were cumulatively a little bit too large and the lack of a true sommelier made the difference. That being said, anytime you are being compared to LB, you are in an elite class. I greatly enjoyed my meal at Castle Hill.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA place not to miss. What aA place not to miss. What a beautiful view and the food was fantastic4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visiting CastleFirst time visiting Castle Hill and it won't be our last. The food was excellent and all the servers were wonderful especially River. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and went there on the advise of friends. We had a long leisurely Brunch and really enjoyed the Lobster Hash which River recommended. We were not dissapointed. Can't wait to go back.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing spot, amazing sunsets,Amazing spot, amazing sunsets, great food, pretty expensive. Was caught off guard a bit by fix price being the only option but worth is for a special occasion. Wine list for the non-elite was a bit limited. Found a "special" for chardoney at $40, next was $62 an then rapidly moved to $100+. I'd go back in a heartbeat for an anniversary but would be afraid to bring a group.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA Newport dining experienceDining at Castle Hill was a great experience. Our server, Jarod, was excellent. Normal menu offers a 3-course and 5-course pre-fixe selections for $75/$95 with wine pairings at additional cost. We selected from the Newport Restaurant Week menu and for $30 the menu was a good value! Great view of the bay / bridge. Highly recommend.....4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining Destination in NewportI was at Castle Hill to enjoy their offerings for the Newport Restaurant week. We had great overall experience. The servers were courteous and knowledgeable about the items they served us. We will return for special occasions and later this summer to enjoy their outdoor dining.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful location with stunningBeautiful location with stunning water views. Terrific food and service. A little pricey: lowest tasting option 75 though we got a great 3 course menu for $30 for restaurant week. Wonderful food/service. Outdoor patio being finished in May which will have lower cost more casual grill. We will definitely return!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the best mussels I haveI had the best mussels I have ever had in my life. The service was top knot. The view of the ocean was the highlight though. Thank you for making my anniversary so special:)4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad requested a private tableHad requested a private table for 2 and had a nice spot in a smaller dining room with a beautiful view of the Newport bridge. Fantastic food and a gorgeous view of the water make for a wonderful dining experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMContinued ExcellenceWe had not dined at Castle Hill in a few years and were hoping that it had not lost its luster. We were not disappointed. Although it was a rainy evening, the setting is still spectacular, overlooking Narragansett Bay. There are a number of dining rooms to choose from and each offers its own interesting setting to enjoy. Our server has been with the restaurant for a number of years and he was excellent. The food was very uniquely prepared and also excellent. Overall, a great dining experience.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinetely five stars, aDefinetely five stars, a wonderful dinning experience.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant week treat! We dined here during restaurant week. We enjoyed our meals & our server was great. Our waiter had an accident with the wine bottle slipping & breaking some glasses-we were fine, the table needed to be made over,so we waited in another room. We were fine with it-accidents happen, but I was a little surprised when we received our bill that I was charged for the wine. I thought it would have been a nice gesture to not charge us for the glass of wine, but I didn't say anything. They were very apologetic & the rest of the evening was great. Overall, we would return ,but probably only during restaurant week-very pricey.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPicture perfect setting. FoodPicture perfect setting. Food was absolutely delicious! Service was excellent. I especially liked the salmon parfait the chef sent out to welcome us to castle hill. It was a very nice gesture. An amazing experience!!!!!!!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Go!The Restaurant Week menu was the best I've ever had. My fiancée says I maybe turning him into a foodie. He couldn't believe all of the favors that the chef created. The salmon was cook perfectly. After every course I had a clean plate.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite place in RhodeMy favorite place in Rhode Island. Never disappointed with the food or the setting.
It is the place we go when we really want to treat ourselves to something special.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent.Everything was excellent. They also have a nice selection of wines by the glass which was nice.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat value during restaurantGreat value during restaurant week but even though food was very good, would be overpriced if not for the $30 price tag for 3 courses during restaurant week.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellent. The service was excellent. The waitstaff was very professional yet friendly and there when needed but otherwise not intrusive.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCastle Hill was a fantasticCastle Hill was a fantastic venue for a night out on the town. Recommended for a special event or a delicious food craving. Get reservations for sunset the view is incredible.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time dining at theOur first time dining at the Castle Hill Inn was for Easter Brunch. They had a fabulous layout, with a variety of dishes to serve all tastes, and definitively a step above your standard fare easter buffet. My favorites included the finely roasted ham, a lobster/sole dish, and interestingly, a zucchini bread pudding topped with a poached egg and beef sauce. I found it a little surprising though that for the tab that bottled water/a cocktail drink was not included in the pricing, but suppose for the view and exclusivity, it's not outside the norm.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVELY! Had it not been forLOVELY! Had it not been for the construction going on around the exterior of the dining room, it would have been picture perfect. Couldn't have picked a better spot for the first really nice day of spring and an Easter weekend luncheon. Will be back for a summer visit.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were spoiled from the timeWe were spoiled from the time we showed up until the time that we left. The food was prepared perfect, it tasted unbelievable and the service was fantastic.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
