  • "We visited the restaurant to celebrate a birthday. The staff was beyond professional and friendly! Each menu item we tried was more delicious than the last. They had an outstanding cocktail menu as well. The ambience was outstanding. I think restaurants in hotels are sometimes overlooked by the locals. This one is a treasure that should be a must visit!"

Fantastic desserts even though it was almost too dark to see them! A little more table lighting would certainly help! And the service was friendly but erratic and slow."

  • "We used to love the restaurant that was here in the Ritz Carlton prior to the remodel into the Cast & Plow. The physical setting is still wonderful and the seating is very comfortable. However, the food really disappoints. It's very expensive as we expected, and main course portions are small which would normally be fine for us. The quality of the food was only fair. Our table of four had the chicken, rib-eye steak, scallops and pasta. None of us enjoyed the food."

  • "Every time I want to celebrate a special occasion, the Ritz doesn't disappoint. As usual we had the most amazing time for my friend's birthday. They hostess greeted my friend by name, had a sign made in her name that said Happy Birthday, and offered us many places to sit including the amazing table outside. Luckily it wasn't too hot, too windy, or too cold. It was a great day. The food was all of the items you would expect but presented in a different way. I loved the vegetarian pita and my friend loved her burger. The smores dessert is the best. A must order."

  • "We were expecting an exceptional dinner with such a limited, well planned (and overpriced) menu. The smoked, grilled rib eye steak was recommended by our server. I asked for it medium rare + so that the fat in the steak would be melted into the steak (as I normally would order a rib eye). I didn't know or expect that the steak would be cut so thinly that it arrived medium well to well done. I have never had a ribeye cut as thin as a minute steak. At $37.00 it was a very disappointing entree. The server asked if I wanted to send it back but that would have ruined the dinner even more as my husband would have been done with his dinner before I started. The least they could have done is comped a dessert."

  • "The lunch menu in this restaurant is not what you would expect from a high-end hotel in a great setting. We decided to pack up and go next door, where they serve a very nice all inclusive brunch for the same price as two hamburgers at the Ritz Carlton. The waiters were very cordial and understanding."

  • "My friend and I would like the chefs salad which included lobster to be reinstated on the menu. The menu is lacking in choices, but the food is good. The restaurant is significantly improved and more welcoming sine being recently renovated. Definitely recommend."

  • "It's undeniable-- a restaurant in the Ritz Carlton begs high expectations. The food and ambiance at Cast & Plow delivered...but at a cost. We had salmon, burgers, steak, fries, and the burratta and tomato salad. I'd recommend all of the dishes, but I'd save this restaurant for special events, maybe Mothers Day or Anniversaries. The view is gorgeous and the restaurant (newly redone) is fabulous, too. Just be prepared to spend way more than you planned to, especially on wine. There are hardly any bottles available for under $150."

  • "Our experience here was a big let-down. From the moment we made our reservation and we were told rather rudely by the hostess to "be on time. It's a busy day for us and we'll only hold your table for 10 minutes", it continued downhill. Upon our arrival, the restaurant was chaotic and horribly disorganized. There was a long line of people with reservations waiting to be seated. Some had been waiting over an hour. The hostess gave no apology or explanation, and told us to go wait in the bar. No complimentary refreshments were offered and no one helped us find a seat. After a complaint to the manager we were finally seated at our table after 50 minutes! The brunch was very basic, limited and unimaginative, and the price was a hefty $125/per! "

  • "I enjoyed Mother's Day brunch at the Cast & Plow. The food was well prepared and fresh. The decor was good. I had an outdoor table in the hot sun. The umbrellas couldn't be positioned to provide much relief. At $150 per person (including gratuity that they so thoughtfully added), I could've received an equivalent experience somewhere else for half the price. The valet parking was an additional $8 plus tip. We will celebrate Mother's Day somewhere else in 2015."

  • "Informal fine dining right in the neighborhood and at a world class hotel no less. Made a last minute reservation for a Friday night out for cocktails and dinner. $6.00 Uber ride (for the cocktails) and a fabulous experience at the recently reopened restaurant at the Ritz Carlton MdR. Very cool room, vibrant hip bar scene with water's edge outdoor seating. While we live on the water in the Marina we would have grabbed an outdoor table but the 25 knot wind kept us at a window booth inside. Started with a tomato mozzarella salad out of this world! My wife had the salmon and I had the rib eye. Wife raved about he fish and the rib eye was spectacular. We finished with house made Pistachio Brownie ice cream. Are you kidding? Wonderful night out "

  • "Terribly disappointing. Lovely room, good concept, nice looking menu. The food was average and service was mediocre at best. Most disappointingly, the pricing was abusive. Dinner for two with one glass of wine, one appetizer, 2 small entrees, one vegetable, one dessert and one tea was over $180 for two. And, valet parking -- with a validation -- was $8. Even worse, they have no corkage policy and refused to serve our wine. This wouldn't have been awful if their list weren't grossly overpriced (with $30 retail wines at well over $100 and $45 wines priced over $150). Save yourself. Don't go."

  • "Cast & Plow is the new incarnation of the restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey--and it's excellent in every respect. Relying on a network of farmers' markets and suppliers around the state, the chefs turn out well-prepared dishes matched by a respectable wine list with good choices by the glass and bottle. We ate multiple breakfasts, lunches, and dinners here; each meal has its highlights and we were never disappointed by our choices. There are even good options for vegetarians & vegans. Many menu items draw on Mediterranean flavors--preparations were uniformly excellent."

  • "Restaurant was a lot better before it was renovated and name was changed from Jer-Ne to Cast & Plow. Jer-Ne had a good and varied menu, including some great salads. Current menu is very sparse, not much choice. And they will not substitute anything. Service was slow and there weren't that many people there, although our waiter was very nice."

This restaurant, as do many, phone and ask you to call to confirm your reservation. You're scared not to call back-- will your reservation be cancelled? Sorry but it's an annoying practice unless a major holiday."

  • "...menu still in progress at high price points. Went to Cast & Plow to try the new menu and outdoor dining experience. The refurbishment is tasteful; interesting ceiling fixtures and nice general decor. Outside patio is definitely the biggest draw as the tables closest to the pedestrian walk have crystal fire centerpieces. Service was good, with explanations of food / drink offerings detailed. A selected wine choice was not available, but a comparable selection was made available at the lower price point. Drink/wine prices felt high. The menu is just about the right size of choice, but still appears to be a work in progress on results. Both pasta and seafood selections came either under seasoned or imbalanced in their seasoning."
