I rarely fill these out; your restaurant is very nice and a great addition to the OLT. The service was great too - nice energy and very friendly but the food was disappointing. My Wife ordered the Duck Poppers and thought it was mediocre (very dry). My Daughter and I ordered burgers and I asked for mine medium rare and it was over-cooked. Buzz Kill. I told the waitress (because she asked) and she took a look and agreed. I'm sure you'll correct that and respond to your patrons reviews. You offer a creative menu. The restaurant has great potential and you'd think people would want to come just to eat and hang out but the food needs work - it fell short. Good Luck!

If you want to feel special and enjoy a delicious meal in a peaceful setting, Cast & Cru Restaurant provides that chance. It is the place. Cast & Cru at the Old Log Theater in Excelsior is near the lights of the cities, yet provides an oasis of quiet, upscale charm and quality cuisine.

Thank you for taking this project on. It is beautiful and we wish you much success. So lucky to have this so close to us.

My sister and I went "out of our comfort zone" and had the Beef Short Ribs - we normally do not choose beef. This turned out to be one of the best meals we have ever had. The chocolate dessert was amazing. Wonderful coffee also. We had a couple of issues with the service, but feel they are just learning as we did also.

We had lunch before a matinee performance. Service was professional and friendly, and helpful with timing to make it to show when it started without being pushy. The menu is very interesting, with a nice variety of "simple" and "gourmet" so there is something for everyone regardless of personal taste. Food was delicious and beautifully plated. Full bar and nice wine list are available-we had Bloody Mary's with their own infused vodka and homemade pickled green bean garnish-delicious and the perfect start to an excellent meal, followed by an excellent production!

I was amazed to walk in the door and see the all-new remodel of the restaurant. It's beautiful, classy and current. The menu was the same. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't seem to hold up. My mango chicken salad looked great, but the flavor was bland and the chicken dry. My parents (we were celebrating their 80th birthdays) liked their food but weren't thrilled. I know there may still be bugs to work out - the restaurant is new - and am totally wiling to give it another try because I loved the setting so much.

a bit over-priced for quality. 3 servers told us the pork chop was great so 4 of us ordered it and it was just ok. grits were tasteless and snow pea side was stringy. Pork chop was not tender. appetizer tray had burnt bread. On another point the show was great. I will return but order something different.

Still a bit unorganized. Our waiter was obviously new, and not very knowledgeable about wines, or to describe menu items. They were out of one the items someone ordered (at 6:00?). The presentation of the food was very nice, but would like to see more "regular" type appetizers and light plates. They don't need to make everything "so fancy". They sat us at a table that right by the window for the kitchen so lots of traffic by our table all night long with all the servers

We've going to the Old Log Theater for many years and were quite intrigued to see what Cast and Cru would be like. We were very pleased and feel that Cast and Cru is off to a great start and should have wide appeal as its setting is wonderful, it has a great menu, and the quality of food and service we enjoyed was first rate. We look forward to our next visit.

The food here is expensive--which is Ok if the quality commands the price. Unfortunately it does not. The steelhead salmon was bland and under seasoned--no taste of horseradish as promised on the menu. The risotto was fine--cooked properly but not much flavor. The pork osso bucco was more flavorful but one note--tasted overwhelmingly of Chinese Five Spice. The flourless chocolate torte had no flavor (if you closed your eyes you would not know it was chocolate. The ice cream was overwhelmingly expresso--no hazelnut flavor. All in all a disappointing experience.

The new owners have really transformed Old Log location. It's serene just walking up to the door and the view is natural, even got a bit of a late sunset. For the most part food was good. The complimentary bread was flavorless, though, and since that was the first thing we tasted we were a bit concerned! But it got much better from there. I think they forgot to put any dressing on my salad, so I asked for some. I'm so glad I did! The dressing was excellent. They are still working out kinks after being open just three weeks, but any issues we experienced were just minor and no reason not to go! My scallops were tasty and my husband's pork chop was tender and juicy. It was hard for me not to steal his delicious parmesan grits! We'll be back.

Wow! Cast and Cru puts on a "great show" as the newly renovated restaurant at the Old Log Theater. The menu provided a variety of options with special attention to the small plate variety. The Mango Chicken Salad along with the Scallops lightly flavored with bacon were two choice favorites at our table. I can only hope our community can rediscover this new "gem" of a spot. The decor is unexpected after years of feeling like a cabin supper club. Old Log is reinventing the dinner and show concept all wrapped into one setting. I wish you well!

As a neighbor of over 20 years, we rarely went to the Old Log, because of its lack of change. It was stuck in a time-warp. Now new energy has been injected and it's exciting. It's light & bright inside, and our food at lunch was great from a new innovative menu. I now here people talking about the Old Log again with excitement in their voices. They're talking about the new productions, the new food and the new atmosphere. And it's great to have the option to go for food and/or a drink without a play, or to go for the works!! Very positive!!

I have been a fan of the Old Log Theater for many years. I loved the old restaurant in conjunction with the plays. So I was somewhat apprehensive about the new place, but am usually game to try something new. We were there for brunch prior to the Sunday matinee. The brunch menu is great - a little different but something for everyone. We started with a Bloody Mary which was excellent. The service was just wonderful. The food, too. I had the Miso egg soup which was tasty. My friend had the breakfast sandwich which she pronounced as the best she had ever had. She did not leave a crumb on her plate! We look forward to trying the lunch men next time.

We visited on what turned out to be their 5th day open. While we were probably only one of two couples not attending the show we definitely enjoyed the experience. Both the chef and owner came to visit us and the food was amazing. At the beginning the service was a bit slow getting our wine but I think that had more to do with the rush before the show started. Our server was very good and knowledgeable about the menu. The air conditioning was a bit much but they were aware and trying to find a solution. All in all a nice find.

This is a lovely restaurant. The improvements are remarkable. I feel this kind of food deserves linen tablecloths, if only in the dining room proper. My husband had the Pork chop which was absolutely the best we've tasted anywhere. I had the filet of beef which sad to say was a big disappointment. It was tender but very bland--almost tasteless. My husband sampled mine and agreed with me. He was willing to switch with me, but it was his birthday so I insisted he have the better meal. The old fashion was superb. We will definitely try this restaurant again and see how it progresses over time.

Food I am sure was good but (see below) All was great but the COLD food turned us off. We were not the only table that comented on the COLD food. We went to Cast and Cru on the first night after their soft opening. We'd eaten at the Old Log restaurant before, but this is something completely new! The owners have put a lot of money into remodeling the restaurant and into the back kitchen as well. The new restaurant looks good and is going to get even better as some of the remodeling ideas are not fully implemented yet. The best part was the food! It was fantastic! We had Bison Ribeye, Monchong, Pork Chop, and Ciopino. All of them were perfectly prepared and presented. Whether you are going to a play or not, try the food! The wine list is one of the most extensive I have seen in the cities. All in all, a great evening. We'll be back!
