A word from Cassis American Brasserie
Cassis American Brasserie brings to downtown St. Petersburg a concept of “Continental Comfort Cuisine” in the tradition of European Brasseries, yet with the relaxed flair of American eateries and a feeling of “always been there”.

Zinc top bar, dark mahogany wood, oversized framed mirrors, hand-painted three tone cement floor tiles, chocolate brown leather banquettes and booths; Cassis offers casual eating in a comfortable environment.

The dining room opens onto an outdoor terrace displaying a bistro area in the tradition of Parisian style cafes and a dining section in the South Beach style with colorful offset umbrellas.

Open seven days a week for lunch, and dinner, week-end brunch and throughout the day for light fares, coffee, home-made ice cream and desserts, Cassis American Brasserie is an ideal destination for quick bites or leisurely meals.

Diner Reviews
  • "Three of us went for Sunday brunch - huge menu, very good food. Rather noisy, as it was a full house."

  • "Six adults, two yr old and a dog had a wonderful brunch outside on Sunday morning. Food was good. The pastry/bread basket was amazing! Lots of people with dogs."

  • "Our server was EXCELLENT! Very knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. The tuna tar tar app was good, but I liked the old version better where it was served with a spicy chili sauce versus the new way with a habanero pepper on the side. The guacamole was excellent and the flatbread my wife ordered was outstanding. The lobster special was disappointing. $28 for a "lobster stuffed with crab meat" that was small (1 lb), overcooked, chewy and tasteless and we had to ask for drawn butter. The crab was mostly bread stuffing. We ordered the Cassis Sav Blanc and it was good for a house wine. When we got the $200+ bill, they charged us $1 for the butter and $1.50 for extra pita chips."

  • "My husband and I went there for a date night and we had a great time. Food was excellent, great drinks. It was just a little pricey. We would def go again."

  • "The Ice-Cream sundae was our favorite part. I think everything is homemade."

  • "I really liked the Madame Croque, which I had always been interested in trying when I took a French class. The sandwich is so thick and big that I needed a fork and knife to eat it. I enjoyed it thoroughly. :)"

  • "We brought my mother for her birthday brunch!! And she loved the food and the atomsphere!!"

  • "Went there with my boss and a group, had a nice time the restaurant was beautiful. Service was very good but the food was hit or miss."

  • "I really want to like Cassis; it has so many things going for it. Great location, diverse menu, etc. Unfortunately, the service continues to be lackluster, the food prep time extremely long, and the good was "meh" when we finally received."

  • "We made reservations for Father's Day brunch which I expected would be busy. It was and we weren't expecting quick service, but instead it was non-existent. It took about 15 mins for the server to acknowledge us and then another 20 mins after that to get our drinks. The food is always quite good at Cassis if you can find a way to tolerate the service. The service was so slow that we had to feed the two hour meter again for parking."

  • "Loved the beach day theme but the dj had the music too loud for dining had to shout to the waiter not able to talk in a normal tone"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Apparently in an attempt to attract the young singles to the bar, the owner filled the restaurant with sand and bunches of blow-up beach balls, rafts, etc. then to add to the ambiance, they were cranking up the volume on rap music. When I booked a table through Open Table, nothing warned me that it was Beach Week in the restaurant. Strange event for a restaurant of the caliber of Cassis on a weekend night."

  • "We had planned to get to Cassis for dinner as soon as we started frequenting their bakery on morning walks. What we didn't realize is that the night we chose was the first night of their beach bash weekend. The entire restaurant floor is covered in sand and decorations include everything beachy. The food was excellent (we had the duck confit charcoutre which is a Thursday special along with beet salad). Wines offered by the glass had enough range to allow pairing a different wine with each course. We will definitely return."

  • "Food was very good, cooked to order, tender beef, scrumptious rolls. Caesar dressing slightly stronger than my preference, but others in the group raved about it. Service is top notch, friendly, professional and prompt. Listings show two $$ signs for price range, but I would definitely list as 3+$$$ signs. Great spot for business meals."

  • "Music was uncomfortably loud. Mother's Day buffet was pricy bit the food and selection was good. The service was good too. The drinks were over priced. No champagne include with brunch so be aware of the $9.50 for a mimosa. "

  • "Cassis is always a place I can count on for good food and service. However, we had a really excellent server this time in Barbara. I would highly recommend her...and the Bloody Mary !"

  • "We have enjoyed our brunch. Especially the location near the Bay! The food was very good. A lot to choose!"

  • "We moved inside to get out of the heat but found they kept the doors open and the climate was not much cooler. The noise level inside (they were full) was robust, making it a little hard to catch up with friends. Service and efficiency was very good, but all felt the price was a little steep for the quality. We will go back but look more at lower to moderate level priced times for our next visit. "

  • "It was not the first time I went to cassis , I picked this restaurant for the food and outside dinning once I have my mother visiting from Europe . Food was good as always service lack if details, attention to guest needs and table maintenance was very low or none , unfortunately not the first time . For a French influence cuisine and those prices a high level of service is expected . We had 2 bottles of wine , not once refilled , sad."

  • "The buffet setup was poor and resulted in long lines and waits to get food. The beef was tough and the ham had a lot of fat. The overall food selection was poor for an easter brunch. This restaurant is not set up to handle an easter brunch and should stick to menu service. This was the worst easter brunch we have experienced. The bill included an 18% service charge. We found this rather high for a brunch, especially since we were only a party of 4 and the waiter service consisted of filing water glasses."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "The food was good, but the spacing for the food area was too tight and made it difficult for diners and those workers trying to restock the buffet. Also-- our waiter had such a heavy accent and I understood almost nothing he said. They did a great job appealing to the kids in the crowd. "

  • "Experience was so good going back for Mother's day."

  • "We've eaten here frequently, so we kinda knew what to expect. The buffet line was crowed and slightly slow, but mostly good -- with a few bad dishes. I was disappointed in their hot pasta dish (horrid), but the ham and prime rib were outstanding. The salad bar was delicious, as were the pastries, mashed potatoes and omelets. The french toast was PERFECTION! The chicken was excessively dry and the bacon cooked beyond recognition. I won't return for a brunch buffet, BUT their regular brunch menu is sooo tasty. I think the regular brunch/lunch menu is where they shine. Service was excellent. They also make killer cocktails. Dinner has always been okay, but the regular brunch/lunch is definitely worth every dime! "

  • "It was quite disappointing overall. The food was not seasoned well, and the chaos was amongst all disciplines from the servers, valet, management and cooks. Everyone seemed quite overwhelmed and not necessarily prepared for the increase in people. I must say the one highlight I enjoyed was the french toast, as it was the best I ever had. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our Easter Brunch. The buffet line was not set-up to be conducive to the crowds and flow that needed to accommodate the number of people in attendance. Upon completion of our meal we literally had to wait approx. 45-minutes for valet to return our vehicle."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Eaten here many times, even brunch, but the Easter brunch buffet was excellent food for good price."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "We were here for Easter Brunch. It was very good, especially considering how busy it was. The prime rib was really good. They cut thick pieces, as prime rib should be served, but often isn't in a buffet. The omelet station was excellent, with a variety of ingredients and fresh herbs. The set up was crowded, and the line was out the door. It was too congested to get back in line to get more food, so felt like we didn't really get our money's worth. We also ordered mimosas, at $10 each. This was really high, considering so many establishments include these or Bloody Mary's with brunch, some serving them unlimited. There is a lot of outside dining along the sidewalks, with heaters under the canopies- a nice set up downtown! "
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "They created a kid like atmosphere for Easter to encourage those with families to come and dine for $30 a head yet they don't have a changing table. Do you think for that kind of money those want to see my changing my baby at the table?! Used to love the place when we didn't have a family but now that we do we will never go back! I didn't even consider asking about a changing table since they were having children activities. "

  • "Cassis chefs couldn't have done anything better for Easter brunch. The variety of food they offered was amazing, omelet station, carving, hot table, bread table and fabulous desserts. The omelets were made to order and a nice variety of condiments. The roast beef was perfectly roasted and all the side dishes were nicely presented. I should have counted the huge variety of desserts, maybe 20 different ones, but small enough that I was able to try five of them without being a glutton. Everyone was in a festive mood and it was a perfect morning to eat outside. They provided balloons for the kids and a little "barnyard" with live chicks and bunnies to keep things lively. We would come back."

  • "Some of the food in our party was not warm. Bread or biscuit was tough. Waiter while polite, he did not understand some of our request. Grouper sandwich was to come with a certain sauce. Sauce was served mayo????"

  • "When it's a lovely day, there is nothing better than dining out on the sidewalk/patio area and people watching! Food and service was great!"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "We arrives on time for our 10:30 brunch reservation. We waited almost 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to ask about water, coffee, drinks, menus etc. We even asked the hostess 2x to send someone over. But this has been the ongoing MO at this restaurant. This has been about our 6 visit in 2 years. We would come more often but the service is so frustrating. We live here."

  • "Most of the food we had was great! I got the lentil salad with chicken and the chicken was dry and the lentils a little too hard for mu liking. So I asked for extra dressing. Later realized he charged us $. 75 for it. really? for a $16 salad?? Atmosphere and facilities really nice. I suspect we just had a lousy waiter. great cocktail menu too!!"

  • "Have frequented the restaurant but never for brunch. It did not disappoint! Lovely French pastries complimented the meal. It was beautiful to sit outside and start the day this way. "

  • "Service very, very, very slow. Food came out burned. Waiter and manager were unprofessional. No compensation given. I , nor any of my friends, contacts or network will ever return."

  • "This restaurant is great for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. There are very many choices without meat. Tuna tartare was excellent. Very interesting salads which can be ordered as entrees. Outstanding Cucumber and mint gazpacho. I have been here previously and the quality of the restaurant continues to be outstanding. Highly recommend it for the food and the ambience."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "We sat indoor for lunch/brunch, then outside for a wine and people watching. Service was excellent in both spots. The table enjoyed two variations of eggs benedict, both excellent, eggs done perfectly. The blackened grilled grouper sandwich was good accompanied by incredible fries. A very nice wine list, excellent cocktails including an outstanding bloody mary."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Staff was nice. Bread was pretty good as were chips, the rest is just ok. Food was fair and wine list lacking"
