A word from Cask Republic
Cask Republic having opened in December of 2013 artfully fuses the familiarity of an American-style tavern with the authenticity of European taverns of yesteryear. A Communal Tavern, the concept is simple; exceptional food globally inspired, a world class beer program, extensive spirits and wines – all housed in an atmosphere befitting that of a sophisticated urban respite.

Don't miss sitting near one of the two cozy fireplaces located in the Tap Room and Fireside Room.

Chef Carl Carrion has designed a menu which elevates global tavern classics to a new level through his seasonal preparation of quality ingredients.

Diner Reviews
  • "Went to Cask for dinner with friends after hearing rave reviews. Made a reservation a week or so in advance due to out of town guests attending. When we arrived, we were told it would be at least 15 minutes until our table was ready. When we sat we did have a great table in front of the fireplace but it took at least 20 minutes to get a drink and were never offered additional drinks after that. Food took over an hour to arrive for 4 people, we almost considered walking out. We could also barely hear each other because of the crowds at the bar. There should be some separation between the bar/restaurant so you can hear eachother speak. I bet Cask would be fine for lunch because of the lack of bar crowds but my experience was poor."

  • "Our server Adam made the night! He was honest and sought help with whisky choice by recruiting the equivalent of the sommelier, who knocked our shorts off! Food was tasty, appropriately portioned because we shared, and the atmosphere was vibrant. I only give a 5 if nothing better could be had in the neighborhood, and a 4 plus is not available. we enjoyed it immensely!"

  • "Dined many times here, food and beer are always good. As the bar filled up with after work groups the stereo was turned up so much, shouting at my dining companions as if we were in a nightclub was insufficient to be able to carry on conversation."

  • "Cask Republic has a nice intimate feel for dining and also a social vibe. The food and service was phenomenal . Try the cauliflower grantido!"

  • "Everything was really good..... very young crowd... very noisy. Service was good considering the action going on."

  • "I was expecting another run of the mill sports bar but got a very big surprise. Its a delightful energetic bar with so many beers on tap I thought I was in Portland or Denver! The food was terrific. Lots of interesting delicious small plates. The large dining and drinking area near the bar has high tables and great energy. In the back left of the restaurant is a quieter seating area with standard tables. There is a fireplace back there for a couple to cuddle with a great beer or wine. I can't wait to go back and sample more beers and great food."

  • "We had a positive, although not overwhelming experience during our first visit here. Food is OK. Service was good. Very loud bar scene."

  • "We were six seated in the bar area for dinner. Terribly noisy. The music was too loud and people were trying to talk over the music, so it was very, very loud. We were miserable and our guests couldn't wait to leave. Too bad."

  • "Looking forward to check out new place. Lots of people at bar. Lots of beer on tap. Might have to stand around if you don’t have table reserve early in the night. A good place to get drinks and have a mediocre meal. Oysters were not on the menu like the website indicated. Menu on website is not same. Ordered a few small plates and everything was over salted. Ordered soup. They could have filled it a little more than half the bowl. Mussels and fries - teeny tiny sad mussels and soggy fries. Seared Tuna was way over the top salty, we took one bite and sent that back. Soy Glazed wings was not bad. And the side of roasted mushroom was nothing special. Get tipsy and you might enjoy the meal."

  • "food/beer really delicious. service was slow, especially for lunch. luckily we weren't in a hurry to get back to work."

  • "This place has a fantastic beer selection! We ordered some of the small plates and were quite pleased with the food. I went for lunch and the place was practically empty, which was nice. Although difficult to understand how our waiter was unable to understand some of the things we said or forget something we ordered. He never wrote anything down, so perhaps that was his problem. Otherwise great experience."

  • "Great for the 20 and 30 year old crowd but very pricey. No happy hour and some beers are as much as $11.00 and more!"

  • "Very good food and great beer selection. Seems to have a good, relatively young crowd. Would definitely recommend for drinks after work. For dining, try to get a table away from the bar area."

  • "This is a new hot spot opened a few months ago. They have great local beers right from CT. Their cocktail list is very good too. Had a spicy bourbon drink which was delicious and I don't drink bourbon. Now I am hooked on that drink. Great place to hang out after work. Good bar scene."

  • "Once again this fairly new establishment in downtown Stamford managed not to screw up the meal like most restaurants that last more than a year start to slip in quality. The beer is fantastic."

  • "Cask Republic has a pub feel but is more than a pub. Food is creative and flavorful. I had the Duck con fit salad and it was perfectly sized and different from the normal run of the mill salad offerings you get at most restaurants. Staff is welcoming and knowledgeable..Great addition to downtown Stamford..They have enough Pubs! Nice to see something who sets itself apart from a pub!"

  • "My initial thought was since CR focuses on a wide variety of beers it may not be a great choice for us since we love wine and an occasional single malt. Clearly, we were nicely surprised with our choices of both. Then, they brought the wonderful, well prepared and beautifully presented food. Salmon, meatballs, crispy pork small plate......everything was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and thoughtful in spite of the busy, almost-full-to-capacity crowd. We live downtown and will be back to CR again and again. Welcome to the neighborhood CR! V and J"

  • "We came late on Friday night of restaurant week and the place was packed to the brim. We had literally the last table in the back of the restaurant, but that was fine because there was a fireplace right near by and it was very noisy in the front by the bar area. This place is definitely known for their beer list, but I started with their angry bourbon drink which was very good, before proceeding to try one of the probably 40-50 beers on their draft beer list. My girlfriend got the restaurant week menu which had a bunch of good options, and her chicken dish was really delicious. I went for the short rib entree because I love short ribs and pretty much order them any time they are on a menu. It was a great preparation and we will be back."

  • "The service and food were both poor. The restaurant's location is great but everything else was really disappointing."

  • "The food was good, I had the chicken and my wife the trout. She did not care for the trout skin, so she had to take it off. The plating was unappetizing. The potatoes were thrown on TOP of the fish. The portions were good, but maybe scale back a bit and make the dish ascetically appetizing. No one left hungry after 3 courses. The restaurant was VERY Busy and food came out accordingly, late but not too late. Every course that arrived was missing one dish, we had 4 people. The food runner ran food with two hands, so he was always one dish short. We had to track down a server to get the missing dishes for the first two courses. He remembered the desert. I would go back, the beer menu is unrivaled in Stamford! I like the concept."

  • "Dinner at Cask Republic was so rich and delicious! The portions were also huge, so be prepared to have amazing leftovers! I would highly recommend the eggplant parmesan soup, the cauliflower gratinado, and the IPA BBQ Short Rib Meatballs. Pair those balls with a Sixpoint Sweet Action or a Green Flash IPA and you're in business."

  • "The restaurant specializes iin a wide variety of beer, which we weren't interested in. We tried it for lunch, and found it quiet and enticing, with a fire going in the back. We chose a booth at the front so we could se street traffic. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a superb duck confit sald on arugula and a kale salad. Both were more than enough for a full meal. But we also tried the mussels- a large portion and also very good. The salads were around $12 and the mussels around $13- we shared everything so we ended up with a very good lunch for under $20.00. By the time we left, it was nearly full and the noise level rose considerably. Anyone who dislikes noise should come early."

  • "My first time here - good food - got a table next to the fireplace on a cold night - priceless!"
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "Since this place is still new, it was pretty packed for both table service, and at the bar. When we first walked in for dinner, it was a bit of an older crowd (30s/40's+), but got younger (20's) as the night went on. The food was good, the service a bit slow. Also, they forgot one of our orders and the table was pretty much done with our meals by the time the "forgotten" order arrived. We complained to both our waiter and the guy who seats people (possibly the manager). They should have comp'd that one meal, or at least "a" drink. Other than that, nice, lively bar."

  • "Cask Republic was disappointing . We hoped for so much more . Service was amateurish and disinterested. Food was very average Burger was good but both the English Muffin it was served on and the fries were soggy. The beer and beer choices were outstanding even though they were out of our first choices-"

  • "We went to Cask Republic for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful time! The food was fantastic, the wine and beer lists are expansive, and we requested a table in the back room, which is much quieter and more romantic than the front, where the main bar is. Overall, we had a spectacular time and will definitely be returning!"

  • "The food was okay, the service was okay, but you go there for the beer, which were mediocre at best. It is a lot of hype and with very little payoff. The place was packed and the noise level was ridiculous. If you want to socialize with the people you are eating with, sit in the back or go somewhere else. It's not worth the decibels."

  • "Had a reservation for dinner with friends that started around 8pm...Stacy was our server. Who I had before, so it was perfect!! From there I reserved their lounge area to have champagne and so cocktails to celebrate more. This staff is hands down one of the best in Stamford!! And certainly accommodating all of the needs of myself and my friends. The bar staff is absolutely amazing!! And their GM Casey is even more amazing!!! I will continue to visit there and will also continue to recommend this as one of my favorite places in Stamford. Honestly I'm in love!! Great job Cask Republic!!"

  • "The beer selection is far and beyond anything else in Stamford, the food is tasty and the ambiance can be both cozy and noisy depending on when you go. The service is horrible however and not just because the place is packed 24/7 because Stamford people love anything new.The bartenders are overworked and woefully ignorant about their beer selection as are the inattentive wait staff who are oblivious of your presence when you're trying to order, but oh so aware you exist while trying to clear your place and scoot you out the door once you've received your food/beer. The fresh baked pretzel is a thing of beauty though. Nothing like a warm pretzel and a refreshing beer to liven up these cold winter nights in Stamford."

  • "I was so excited for cask to open. The first time I went last Friday the food was incredible, everything was cooked to perfection. I went Saturday night and the food was average at best. The meatballs were cold and soggy, the wings were fatty and the flat bread was burnt :(. I guess it depends which night you go, from my past experience I'd say the Friday night chef is much better. All in all I like the restaurant, just not blown away."

  • "Just had dinner and some beer at Cask Republic, a new beer-focused restaurant in Stamford, CT. Loved all the variety of beers they offer ( 51 on tap and scores more in bottles) as well as much of the food. I had a chopped salad and Lamb Ruben sandwich, and both were outstanding!. My friend had a goat cheese pizza which was fair. Service was a bit uneven but considering they recently opened and it was a very busy Saturday night quite passable. The noise level was intense and may be too loud for older people or families with young kids. My kids are in college, so I will go there again!"

  • "The beer menu is extensive and the wait staff actually knows about the beers. That was refreshing. The food is made when ordered, so it is hot and fresh when it arrives to the table. Interesting menu choices, beyond the typical pub-fare. The hot pretzel was my favorite. The small plates are actually a pretting decent serving, so one or two is plenty for dinner. Noise level is high."

  • "If you love beer, this is the place to go: over 50 beers on tap, plus numerous bottles, great variety; food is enjoyable, compared to most beer bars, with snacks, small plates and entrees. Burgers is one of the best in recent memory, perfectly cooked on inside and a char on the outside. Ask for a room in the back for a bit quieter time."

  • "Had dinner and drinks at a friends recommendation. It's a typical place that has an endless beer and wine selection but the real difference is that the food is prepared fresh by the chef and is excellent. Best to ask for the back room if you are having dinner since it's a little quieter but the experience was wonderful. Had a great time and will definitely go back."
