Diner Reviews
  • "The food is very good, no disputing that. But it is over priced and not the most comfortable ambiance. It is disappointing to make a reservation and then be lead to a high top. It is a cute place, but you are not getting the high end experience you are paying for in the comfort or service."

  • "After all of the reviews and our fabulous experiences at The Ravenous Pig, we thought this would blow us away. Well, it didn't. We were seated at a bar facing the prep area, nose to nose with a dead fish on ice. Our server didn't offer any suggestions, after telling him it was our first visit. We had the crab toast for an appetizer. It was very good and the tomatoes were so flavorful. For dinner, I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken. Had the menu said it was bone-in, I would not have ordered it. It was way too messy. My husband had the lamb tasting. Half of it was fat, and was left uneaten. I won't write it off completely. The beer selection may be what brings us back for a late night bite and we would love to try the brunch."

  • "Everything from the service, to the craft beers, culminating to the food was amazing. We had the snapper app and crab toast. As well as the Pompano, fried snapper, and chicken (which was a huge portion) dinners. Everything was excellent."

  • "This is my go to spot for client dinners when in the area. It is always fantastic and the menu diverse. They do a tremendous job that always leaves us talking about the next day."

  • "C & L is as close to a big-city hipster dining experience as you're likely to find in Orlando. The food is inventive and the menu changes quite often; the downside is that some of the experimentation is bound to fail. For instance, the deviled egg appetizer was a great value with 3 whole eggs for $6, but the herbs used in the yolk preparation were a bit bitter for my taste. Grilled okra was quite good, but overpriced. I was very happy with my entree of fried red snapper -- delicious. I was surprised by how good the service was; generally in these types of restaurants, you are lucky to get a half-attentive stoner as your server, but our waitress was superb. Drinks, appetizers and entrees arrived in proper succession."

  • "Free valet parking seemed a little unnecessary, hostess wasn't overly engaging but polite. Once seated though it was smooth sailing, nice ambiance, casual but with a pleasing atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly, engaging and knowledgable. Great house beers available which are brewed on premises. Small menu but with the perfect array of options, seafood, poultry, beef and local meats. The lobster corn dogs with a marmalade dipping sauce was a guilty pleasure that I will come back for. The snapper I ordered was fresh, perfectly cooked, tender and skillfully garnished. Great clientele, young adults, professionals, families, and couples in the dining room. Overall, very pleased with my experience. 4/5."

  • "We chose cask and larder for our family to celebrate birthdays. We ordered quite a few menu items to share from appetizers thru the sides and main dishes. Everything was delicious. Drink menu is quite imaginative and they took southern dishes and added their own twist. Just great! Service was attentive without being suffocating. Definitely a winner!!"

  • "I have been to Cask and Larder once a month since Christmas. It is always a pleasure and something to look forward to. I have taken guests and both times it was enjoyable. Once with a younger couple, and last week with friends. We took our son for his birthday as well. You do not feel like you are in Orlando, it is not a tourist place, mostly locals and fun! I enjoy the attention to detail, as in their version of the "Old Fashioned", they use one HUGE ice cube as to not dilute the delicious brown butter infused bourbon! The servers are very accomodating as well. Last time Jonathan was ours and he was great!"

  • "At Cask & Larder, that is. More refreshing than the well executed farm-to-table mission, was the knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff. From coordinating delivery of our drinks from the bar to the table to providing clear explanations about the menu (sans any attitude), the staff was wonderful, especially our server. The menu begs diners to inquire further, with unique offering such as "lobster corndogs" or even the organization of the menu itself with categories including "fixins" and "snacks"--someone to help you navigate is really necessary and our sever was an excellent GPS offering great recommendations on dishes, how much to order, and descriptions of any dish we asked about. Of course, the food was quite good as well."

  • "Fantastic food, innovative drinks and menu. Busy and very popular, but rather noisy for conversation. Everyone in our party of four loved their dishes which were delivered in a well timed fashion, delicious and unique!"

  • "My wife and I went here for our anniversary. I already knew it wouldn't be a 'typical' quiet, romantic setting, and we found the energy level in the place to be quite fun. We shared several small plates be 1 entree, and everything was delicious, though I could see some of the dishes, like the chicken (livers) & biscuit, being challenging for a conservative palette. The biggest surprise was actually the side of pan seared Brussels sprouts that were amazing. Then, as a complete surprise to us, our server showed up with a special 'happy anniversary' dessert at the end of the meal. Perfect ending to a fun, delicious dining experience."

  • "second time here in 3 weeks. We had excellent service both times. Enjoy the concept and execution, the pimento cheese spread, blackened grouper and fried dough were all very well enjoyed. Well priced wine list. I ate more calories than I normally do but had planned for it, and the tastes are worth it."

  • "Cask and Larder is an amazing restaurant. The staff was incredible. They helped facilitate a surprise for my Mother in law. The hostess were great when we called and explained the surprise. I was blown away by the server, Ashley. She was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. She made our night really easy going and very special. The food was phenomenal. I can't rave enough about the lobster corn dogs and roasted Brussels sprouts. Cask and Larder is definetly one of my favorite restaurants now."

  • "We enjoyed the restaurant very much. We went there for a birthday brunch. The food was superb. The presentation was remarkable! Service was amazing. I had a Bloody Larry.. one of thee BEST drinks I've had! The prices were reasonable. We will definitely go back for seconds!"

  • "I love Cask & Larder. I first went when a friend was reviewing for Southern Living, so we sampled a wide array of the menu and found each item impressive. I was also impressed by the ambiance and felt the atmosphere would make for a good date environment. When an out-of-town friend flew to Orlando for a first date, I thought Cask & Larder would be the perfect place. I made a reservation but was disappointed to be seated at the edge of a small, crowded counter bar in the dining room. If I had wanted to sit at a bar, I could have gone to the bar section. I had hoped for a quiet, romantic place to talk -- oops. The food & drinks were great, as always, and I will return for the pimento cheese but will be careful about future reservations."

  • "The food was excellent and the service was good. The parking was rigoshdangdiculous. You’ll pay a hefty sum to dine there (and be sure you have reservations even on a weeknight) but you can’t ignore the fellow diners. One might expect to be dining alongside Patrick Bateman but the artisanal cocktails are worth all of the residual smug conversations that unavoidably drift over to your table. They have valet service available but I’ve never been keen on hiring a lackey to do something I can easily do on my own in the adjacent parking lot separated only by lines of paint. The atmosphere (sans the yup/wasps) was not overwhelmingly decorated. They have a microbrewery/chef’s table Yay."

  • "I expected a more southern cooking flavor, which could've been a mistake on my part but my chicken was not one I would recommend it was covered in paparika and some other spices and over powered the chicken"

  • "Good cocktails... Wonderful food, locally sourced. Delicious! Attentive servers. A+"

  • "Very good food and a great variety of offerings. This is the second time we visited the restaurant and we were not disappointed. On our first visit, we had a large party (10) and the food and the service was spot-on. When we traveled to Florida again this spring we decided to eat at Cask and Larder for our "indulgence" meal out. The wide variety of choices and the unique take on souther cooking make this restaurant a destination NOT to be missed."

  • "The "buzz" about Cask & Larder's brunch is everywhere. This can be a dangerous reality, building preconceived notions in one's mind that are impossible to fulfill. I recently visited the restaurant for a birthday celebration. The hype was 100% valid, we had a wonderful experience. Book ahead of time, this place is busy."

  • "I'm a foodie and went with three friends/colleagues who also love to eat. We work with food (event planners) and are rarely surprised by menus. The selection had us drooling. If we could have ordered one of everything, we would have. Delicious! Great service, great ambiance - if I lived in Orlando I would eat here every week."

  • "You recognize everything on the menu but each dish was prepared in a unique and delicious way. Definitely NOT the same ol' thing! GO THERE!"

  • "Had a great dinner and drinks at C&L. We revisiting Orlando for business and searched for brew pub and Cask was the choice. The house made beers are good, not award winning. The beer quality is enhanced by overall experience and the great food. We had multiple appetizers, I would order the pimento cheese with ham jam everytime, it was outstanding. For dinners people in our group had chicken steak and fish. The big winners were the chicken and hanger steak both just great. No complaints from anyone, everyone thought their meal was great. The brussel sprouts are a must for side dish. And end your dinner with the ice cream sandwiches. Great experience, service and good."

  • "The menu is full of pretension but anything you order will be delicious. Favorites include the Nashville Hot Chicken (which really isn't that hot), the Ribeye Hot Dog, the Kale Salad, and the Angel Food Cake. I've already made reservations to return."

  • "It was a second choice as other restaurants were closed on Monday but we were in for a pleasant surprise, the service was great and friendly and our food was a tasting fest. BBQ chicken was just ok but their fish and kale salad are top notch."

  • "This was a great dining adventure for my wife and I, but not the best food for the price. The menu is very creative, but the there is an excessive emphasis on contrast of flavors. Salty appetizer, sour beer, salty ice cream. OK as an experiment, but not something to repeat. The food would have been phenomenal if the flavors were more subtle."
    Dined on 3/12/2014
  • "The service was attentive but not intrusive. We were given excellent suggestions, and the food was amazing. I would recommend the Hot Chicken and any of their home brews. That said, everything we had was well worth trying and fairly priced. We will definitely be back."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "Not our first visit, but definately one of our best dining experiences! From the appetizers through the deserts the food was excellent in every way! The service was top notch as well. Noise level was a little distracting, but not that bad. The chefs/owners did a greeat job with the menu - putting their own spin on things. We will be back!"

  • "Went with a group of college students. Superb, just not in our budget haha. For group of poor students I would recommend them order just mutliple sides of fries, brussel sprouts and stack up on desserts!!!"

  • "I didn't know what to expect as the menu was eclectic, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had Adam as our server and he was great. Pompano, Quail, and the.Pork Burger were all excellently prepared and very beautifully arranged on the plates. The Pimento Cheese snack was a meal in itself. A very unique and distinct taste that brought pleasure to our pallets. We went on a Monday night at 6:30. People were slowly arriving and it was pretty full by the time we left, about 7:45. But still quiet enough for an enjoyable evening. We will be back many times over."

  • "I think they tried to hard to put a different spin on the Southern style food that it lost some of its "southern" charm. There wasn't enough to choose from on the menu. Still a nice atmosphere and was cozy even though it was big. Been there, done that now. Not dying to rush back."

  • "Our first visit to Orlando five years ago was super disappointing as far as our food choices. We stayed at a Disney property, and literally drank the Kool Aid. It was all about our kids and their Disney experience. But this time, no Disney, no Universal, and we found much better food options. We loved the Southern emphasis at Cask & Larder. Wanted to try The Ravenous Pig, but one child is a vegetarian, and there was literally nothing on that menu she could eat. Cask & Larder — while making an amazing Pig Sandwich and Chicken & Waffles (but not enough heat to be called Nashville-style) — had plenty for our veggie to eat. Great in-house beer brewing too. We also loved The Smiling Bison, if you're looking for another foodie restaurant."
