Cask and LarderAlways a surpriseThis was our third time dining at C&L. Always a surprise to see what is on the menu and as always, amazing, fresh local food. My husband had flinstone size short rib that was super tender and I had the hanger steak with a sweet and spice rub with an accompanied salad that was to die for... As always the dessert did not disappoint, the hummingbird cake was moist and the icing I could lick a whole bucket. We always have the ham plate to start, we enjoy their homemade jelly, ham and biscuits. Really a gem in Orlando, we will keep coming!!!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but way too loudI loved the food -- everything we ordered (oysters, red snapper, grouper cheeks, squash blossoms) was excellent. But our dinner on a Thursday evening (early -- around 7pm) was not nearly as enjoyable as it could and should have been because the noise level was extreme. We had to raise our voices quite a bit in order to engage in conversation over dinner, and had to ask the servers to do the same so we could hear them. Seemed like everyone in the restaurant was yelling just so they could be heard, and all that yelling required everyone to engage in even more yelling. They really need to do something to make the place more acoustically conversation-friendly.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu better than the actual foodI really wanted to like this restaurant. The menu looked really good with lots of interesting choices. Nice interior. Service was good. But the food that was served was very inconsistent. The scones and Southern fish fry were quite good. The semifreddo and cookies dessert and the homemade ice creams were outstanding. But the fried chicken was truly awful - the crust was soggy and chewy and actually tough. Rest of food was average. Some of the interesting combinations simply didn't work on the plate. The wine list had what appeared to be unusual and interesting selections, but both of the red wines we tried were not good (house wine and a cab franc.)6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING!!!This restaurant is fabulous! My cousin, who is the biggest foodie I know, begged me for months to go. The menu is locally sourced, so it's not always the same old same old. We had ribs, quail, lamb, and the biggest pork chop I have ever been served. The sides we ordered were of good proportion and reasonably priced. Dessert was to die for! Go there and enjoy yourself, and revel in the great service.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMUh-Mazing Food! The Mac & Cheese and Ham sampler were delicious. The hummingbird cake tasted as impressive as it looked. A bit pricey, but the phenomenal food was worth every penny!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery different menu and presentatioVery different menu and presentation. The Moon Pie was outstanding!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary CelebrationMost helpful in accommodating handicap diner.
Service exceeded expectations as did "unique" dining experience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. Great, ever-changiLove this place. Great, ever-changing menu, with locally sourced selections. My boyfriend moves the beer flight too. If you go, try the Mac N Cheese, which is perfect for sharing, as are most of the sides! Décor is fresh, clean and uncluttered.
The bar is very fun, and can get busy later into the evening.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious foodFrom the starters to the main course Cask & Larder was worth the visit. Took peers from work and everyone was very satisfied. Starting with the ham sampler and shrimp cocktail and ending with everything from pork belly to the fried chicken and ribeye.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill Be BackService was efficient and professional, fried squash blossoms were the best I've ever had, trout entree was delicious, did not care for the fried dough. I can't wait to return!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious - everything wasDelicious - everything was delicious! Eggs benedict was perfection.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday dinner! My husband and I went here for dinner on my birthday. I love coming here because their menu is so different and yet each dish they create is so tasty! We had the ham "flight" appetizer (delicious!) and my husband had the quail and I had the smoked leg of lamb, both meals were amazing and each of us found ourselves loving things that normally we don't even eat! The flavors really complimented each other that well! Also, the server found out it was my birthday and comped my dessert which was very sweet of her. Diners should be aware that portions are rather small, even for dinner entrees but the upside is that the a la carte sides are big enough to share. Also service can be a tad lacking when it comes to drink refills. Overall, oustanding!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time at C & LOverall impression: Very good food-Over-priced! Would not make this a weekly or even monthly visit - to pricey. Let me say this.....we are not opposed to paying a fair price for good food and dining. Have dined in some very esquisite and high end establishments (Restaurant August, New Orleans; Oakroom at the Selbach in Louisville) so we are familiar with fine dining and reflective pricing. The folks at C&L are quite proud of their fare and the prices reflect as much. The trout was the best value - very good portion and flavor. The lamb came luke-warm. Did not make a fuss. Still it was very good, but again, over priced. Save your $$ on oysters-six small ones for $13! YIKES! Pimento cheese appitizer was great.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCool VibeExcellent microbrews and unique menu where they're not afraid to experiment with unique ideas. Some work, while others don't!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing foodThe food was incredible - just as me and my friends were conversing about the lack of good food in Orlando (compared to other cities), the server brought our appetizer, entrees, sides, then desserts, we all agreed that Cask was a big exception!!!!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNot your everyday foodFood was excellent and the service was great. The cost for three meals was very reasonable for a business dinner. I would have paid 250.00 in Indianapolis for the same quality.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch food, great beerGreat food and great beer, but I'm a little disappointed with how many parents bring their small children here. (NO fault of the restaurant) I've eaten here several times at different times of the day and have had to hear more than one small child banging spoons on the table and plates. Will probably sit at the bar next time.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest potatoes everWith all the yummy looking items on the menu it was difficult to chose just one. The eggs Benedict was a very very good choice ordered a side of rosemary potatoes for the table to share omg the best potatoes ever. Need to return to try other menu items great brunch.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern SlowChefs MIke & Julie Petrakis have transformed the old Harpers into a lively hub of imaginative Southern-inspired cooking. Their creative use of ingredients such as kale or cornbread and their emphasis on local and sustainable sourcing combine to create something unique in Winter Park. Inspired combinations of flavor and texture, delivered with real skill and technique.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive and DeliciousThe food and service are excellent. For the price, I like a quieter and more comfortable dining room. The comfort level of the chairs say, "stay long enough to eat and then move on." Not a huge wine list, but very well chosen.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur reservation was for 1800Our reservation was for 1800 hrs and we were seated within minutes of our arrival. Jessica was our server and also showed us to our table. She appeared to be very knowledgeable regarding the menu items and was very attentive to our table as well as the others she was taking care of. My husband ordered the snapper and it was very tasty. I ordered the trout and that was quite tasty as well. Before the entrees came out, I enjoyed the frisee salad and will more than likely have that again on another visit. We both enjoyed dessert of peach melba and moon pie.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious AgainThis was my second time at Cask and Larder and it did not disappoint. Every course was amazing like the last time I was there. I love that they update the menu every day based on what they have in stock at the time. Also the craft beers change based on what they have brewed recently which gave variety in the drink department. Only downside was the complimentary valet being absent and not getting seated until 5 min after our reserved time.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMModern southern cuisine in OrlandoWe were very pleased to get away from the more tourist areas to try Cask and Larder. Nice wine and beer list, well curated menu which really is a great example of modern / elevated Southern cuisine. The restaurant is easy to find off I-4 towards Rollins College and the menu is very well balanced. We had the country ham crostini, which is more akin to a prosciutto and frisee salad on toast points which is a refreshing starter. For our main courses we had the trout and the fried okra and cheesy grits were a great complement, we also had the pork belly which was crispy and tender, we appreciate the deft hand at executing the dish, which was very well balanced. Save room for the humming bird cake and peach melba.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food!Nice pub, good design - very comfortable and cool looking. I had the Charred Canaveral Shrimp, couldn't even tell you what my husband had as I was way too busy enjoying mine! It was amazing! Oysters to start which were tasty. And then the Moon Pie, did NOT need it as I was pretty full, but it looked too good to pass up. It was delicious and could definitely have served two. Meal sizes were appropriate, not too big but not too small. Service was very friendly and personable, nice noise level. If we lived in Orlando we would be there at least once a week......5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great beerWe had Mother's Day brunch with my wife and in-laws. The food was excellent and everyone loved what they ordered. I had the duck confit and it was excellent and a pretty large portion compared to some of the other dishes. The beer is excellent as well and their brewer seems to have dialed in some recipes since my last visit. If you are near Winter Park, are a goodie, or are a craft beer geek I highly recommend dropping by this restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSmoked Leg of LambAs some of you know, Cask and Larder has a seasonal menu. Along with the Spring comes lamb. Cask and Larder's take on it is exceptional. It has a lightly smoked grilled flavor. There is a nice crust on the meat from searing and the meat medium rare to medium and very moist. Maybe I should call it succulent. I would whole-heartedly recommend their Smoked Leg of Lamb to anyone that even thinks they might like lamb. It is a carnivore's ideal dish.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first visit andIt was our first visit and my husband's birthday. We loved the evening. The restaurant makes everything on the premises, even the beer. He tried several full-bodied brews and ordered grilled quail for an entrée: moist, delicate, divine! For starters, I ordered the oyster gumbo and house white wine. Only 3 small oysters in the bowl but the spicy, rich, southern flavor held my interest. Would order it again! My entrée was the Frisee salad with lots of textures and colors - delicious! Cuisine is southern with a creative, adventurous twist. This restaurant is another winner! Love the architectural design and features within. Sat at a high-top overlooking the goings-on. Service was slow at first and then attentive. Will go back often. Enjoy!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you haven't been, you need to goC&L is an amazing culinary treasure of central Florida. To say that it has everything you could want in fine dining and service is an understatement. They even have a Saturday brunch...go, go now!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Star Service and FoodAs always, Cask & Larder provided an awesome experience in service and cuisine. My guests and I enjoyed the first Saturday Brunch and we were not disappointed. The Eggs Benedict was fantastic. Highly recommend the Beef Brisket with egg and the bourbon-cured trout (if available).
Thanks5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood wasn't as good as "the pig"I had the bone-in pork chop which had to much fat running through the piece of meat. I tried the pork chop at the Ravenous Pig and it was the best I have ever eaten. Service was wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful. I will return but not for the pork chop.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed it - Booked again! We enjoyed our first meal at Cask and Larder so much that we booked reservations for a return visit before we left. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was very good and very unique, and we look forward to whatever is on the menu when we return since it changes so often.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmands unite!Cask and Larder is an experience! We tried three of the appetizers - from the regionally sourced ham to the butter bean bruschetta - we could not get enough.
Great presentation - great ambience - a winning combination and another Winter Park gem...5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food but service lackingFood is amazing and the highlight of Cask & Larder. Why is the welcome and service not following? Just surprising that they don't focus more on training the hostess and the waiters better.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMhad great dinner with friends.had great dinner with friends. food was outstanding and service good. Menu needs a little explaining though5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall enjoyed our dinner;Overall enjoyed our dinner; had to wait for our table even though we had a reservation because of group before us. Loved the fried chicken and curly fries, my husbands lamb was average, my dads quail was a good but tiny. We all had dessert and it was excellent. I liked the house white blended wine.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLarge Groups early in theLarge Groups early in the evening made the dining room a little loud. As it cleared out and quieted, it was far more romantic. Outstanding food and service.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the time, don't miss outEclectic menu made of fresh, local ingredients. Interesting pairings at times that may take one out of their comfort zone and could be hit or miss (i.e. fried chicken with butter beans in a creamy sauce - chicken was amazing btw, beans not so much). Great selection of brews that I didn't get to enjoy (was on an alcohol fast), but looked delightful. Very knowledgeable staff, friendly and accommodating.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing! TheThe food was amazing! The menu had so many intriguing things on it we decided to get a bunch of things to share. Now we have to go back a try what we didn't get this time!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMKnowlegeable and helpful servers.Knowlegeable and helpful servers. A good menu with very good dishes featuring ingredients from local farms. Interesting menu of cocktails as well - although expensive they are worth a try. Will definitely return.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place was amazing. AtThis place was amazing. At first I was skeptical from looking at the menu, but after the very receptive waiter explained everything it turned out amazing. Everything on the menu is unique from the drinks to the dinner. The best part is most of the items in the dishes are locally grown or produced giving everything that very natural flavor. My girlfriend chose the lamb heart for dinner and was a little uneasy about her choice initially, but it turned out to be amazingly flavored and tender. The family style serving also works to your benefit when eating with a larger group because all of the options look so delicious. This way many sides can be chosen and shared amongst the table.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen to RP their sister restaurantBeen to RP their sister restaurant on a few occasions. We knew C&L would be good, but it more then met our expectations. Great service from our waiter Adam, knowledgeable, and very helpful in making our dinner choices. Cobia, flounder great seafood choices. two in our party of four ordered the lamb loin. All great choices. Seasonal salads and sausage app was original and delicious. We will definitely be back in the near future.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful brunch! A gourmetDelightful brunch! A gourmet selection, excellent dishes with a wonderful presentation, but definitely on the pricier side. Loved it! Definitely going back to check out their dinner menu.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Unique Combination of TastesGreat food, unique combianations of tastes, but smaller than expected portions for the price. Overall, a very nice and unique restaurant.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't imagine how it couldI can't imagine how it could have been better. Service was friendly but not overbearing. The server was very knowledgeable and was gracious answering our many questions. Every dish was wonderful. I never could have dreamed up Vanilla Pork Belly on a buckwheat pancake with coffee cream and cocoa nibs but I am very happy they did. It was a very Happy Birthday Brunch indeed.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCaution: You Will Get Addicted!Since my Easter brunch experience 48 hours ago, I have already recommended Cask & Larder to over 12 people. But I didnt just recommend it...I raved about it! If you're looking for a good place to eat - this is NOT the place! You dont JUST eat food at Cask & Larder - you immerse yourself in the totality of the gourmet experience. Comfort food with great attention to preperation and quality ingredients. Believe the hype -- the food and service are excellent.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMelissa was our waitress andMelissa was our waitress and she was awesome. Great personality and excellent knowledge of the menu items. We shared a few small plates and enjoyed every bite. Food was excellent. The country ham, short rib tamale and oysters are must haves. The condiments and spreads that came with each small plate were equally delicious and complimented the food well. We also shared the charred squid and fried chicken which we both enjoyed. Can't wait to go back so we can try some of the other menu items.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was interesting and good.Food was interesting and good. Beautiful decor, excellent service, a great place for a special occasion.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThere was such a variety ofThere was such a variety of delicious options on the menu! I chose fried chicken-best I've ever eaten. Sides were intriguing-we opted for a salad with buttermilk dressing and roasted potatoes-both were sized to share with 1 or 2 others-and were excellent. Service was also attentive. For dessert I chose fried dough, which I think they should rename because it is not at all greasy and is served with a heavenly creme fraiche ice cream on top of a buttery caramel pudding to spoon over the dough. We also really appreciated the casual ambiance. We will definitely go back.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is awesome like alwaysFood is awesome like always and we are never disappointed with any visit we have made to this fine Resturant. This place for brunch is the best one we have found so far. If you haven't tried it you are missing out on a good thing.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
