A word from Casimir & Co
Casimir & Co will transport diners from the streets of Manhattan to a Parisian bistro clad with rustic wood finishing on the walls, an open kitchen with tempting charcuterie hanging in the window, and daily menus listed on chalk boards. The full service bar is located on the street level with a few high-top tables, and the L-shaped dining room is on the second level surrounded by large windows overlooking Lexington Avenue. Dishes will be rooted in simple and traditionally satisfying bistro fare. The seasonal and affordable menu will rotate daily for lunch, dinner and brunch offering diners a new experience every day.Signature items will remain on the menu, such as the house’s signature dish L'Entrecôte Casimir & Co, a grass fed NY Strip served on a wooden board with a "secret" sauce and homemade frites for a bargain $22.
In addition to an outstanding menu, the restaurant also offers a wine and mixology bar on the main floor and outdoor seating for beautiful summers on the patio.

Diner Reviews
  • "Casimir is a great neighborhood spot where you can relax with good food and have a conversation without being drowned out by noise."

  • "Love dining outside @ french bistros, so really looking forward to coming to this spot in our new hood -- my first time. Came a little early for our 5 pm Sunday reservation, and the service was pretty bad (just like in a cafe in Paris!)...had to ask twice for ice, had to remind the wait people to bring the cheese board. However, the frise salad, and entrecote were quite good. Mussels were not terrific, but is WAS Sunday and to quote Tony Bourdain, probably unwise to order that particular item on Sunday! I'll be back, hoping the service will improve."

  • "Our waiter's initial appearance was with pad in hand, asking if we were ready to order. No specials overview, no taking drink orders. Once drinks had been requested, he remained with pad in hand, awaiting our order. We had barely seen the menu. The restaurant should not take 8 pm reservations if it doesn't want the business. Water glasses were never refilled without long-delayed requests, food was not cooked to order and not fixed when sent back, long (25-35- minute) waits ensued between dinner and dessert ordering and we had to go looking for our check when we were abandoned after coffee/tea - there was no one else on the second floor at the time, so the waiter wasn't busy elsewhere. A truly disappointing, almost bizarre, experience."

  • "Food is good, atmosphere perfect for a summer day and I continue to go back because it's very relaxed."

  • "This is a nice neighborhood restaurant where it is possible to carry on a conversation. The endive salad was very good and friends who had the branzino liked it very much. It was filleted and came with bright green beans. The duck confit, however, was not so good. Very soggy fatty skin and served with very greasy roast potatoes. Service was very friendly and accommodating, even if we did need to ask for a separate dish to divide the salad."

  • "Date night with the GF - proved to be worth it. Good food, not crowded and easy layout on 2nd floor. 1st Floor bar is a little tight."

  • "The restaurant was nice. Nothing great. It is ok for a casual mean"

  • "We had six people for Easter Brunch and had a beautiful upstairs table with views of the avenue and the flowering trees. The french bistro food was wonderful and the service was really helpful ( they switched our table twice to give us exactly what our finicky group required). A definite find-- will return when it warms up just a bit and dine at their sidewalk cafe."

  • "The is a pleasant place and one of the few where it is possible to hold a conversation. This is a rarity and a big plus. The food is not bad or overpriced, just not great. Soup was cold, artichoke over cooked and the confit of duck adequate. The fish baked in salt seemed a winner and was enjoyed, the steak frites okay. I would definitely go back because good enough food in a quiet surrounding is not easy to find. The dessert choices were very appealing and I wished we had ordered at least one to share."

  • "Very nice discovering in NYC. Party of 4, with 4 different choices (loup de mer, agneau, moules et steak). Everything was delicious. Including the wine, which is not always the case in town. Perhaps the only thing to improve a little bit were the escargots, and the price for the sparkling water (Badoit, c'est vrai...). But, beyond this, excellent place, nice atmosphere, great service, not too noisy and central, cozy, delicious"

  • "I visited this place a long time ago when it was a slightly more formal French restaurant. My husband and I visited again and it was a little more casual but just as wonderful. Had a great time!"

  • "Lexington Ave is deafening - especially on weekday Cute b/c it's 'cafe/bistro' - but I wouldn't go for dinner - or subject a big guy to sit on those tiny chairs"

  • "This was one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants for a casual lunch or dinner. The new owners have significant changed the menu and we found it difficult to find something to eat for lunch as the menu is more appropriate for dinner. There were only 2 sandwich choices = hamburger and croques monsieur. Omelettes would be a good addition."

  • "A group of 6 of us enjoyed brunch here after having run a race that morning in Central Park. We had made a reservation, and had been looking for a reasonably priced, not-stuffy place for a bunch of sweaty girls to enjoy some well deserved food after a long run. The staff was attentive and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back!"

  • "The food was on point in all aspects. However the service was overbearing when we wanted to be left alone to look at the menu but then when we were ready to order or had questions, there was no one to be found. We were asked about ordering wine several times when we had made it clear that we wanted to decide on our food first and were given exasperated looks every time. It was a little off-putting."

  • "I've been here twice. The first time we ate outside and it was a lovely evening with good service. The food is bistro style and done effectively, but nothing brilliant. It's good, not great and portions are restrained which I think is good. Bread is good. The second time it was packed and we were seated upstairs. The service left something to be desired and we waited FOREVER for our mains, it was insane. And we were cranky when we received them. The kitchen couldn't cope. However the salmon was delicious. But not worth that long a wait."

  • "We loved the fact that the ingredients included organic chicken and grass-fed beef, rare in our experience for a brasserie. Somewhat in French style the wine list had no vintages, though the value was quite good relative to most restaurants, particularly in light of the fact that the bottles we got had decent age behind them at reasonable prices. The bread was homemade and though bland, not bad. We liked the French waiter. The artichoke was over-steamed, and the dipping sauce was like a bad over sated knorr. The Grass Fed steak was very reasonably priced and perhaps thats why it was so thin, as though our 1 year old could have eaten it. The accompanying frites were greasy and not well done, in the figurative sense. Profiterole eh."

  • "Terrific addition to neighborhood. Food very good and prices very reasonable. Lot of attitude from the young hostess and even more fom asst manager, Julian. They'll never get repeat business if not more friendly."

  • "The place is very nice, especially as we could seat by the large windows which made the place very lighty despite the horrible weather that day, decor is cute, music is nice. Food was OK, I was disapointed by the steak tartare, seasonning was too mustardy and more importantly texture was too mashy : everything, meat, pickles, capers was minced too finely so the whole thing had not crunchy texture at all."
    Dined on 6/7/2013
  • "The transition to a new bistro in the spot of a lovely bistro has worked very well. The menu is well edited and smaller. Simple traditional French flair. The steak tartare is prepared at tableside to your specifications and is delicious. Their pomme frites are to die for. The upstairs is quieter and better for dinner. If you want trendy and bar scene then the downstairs and outdoor seating the option to take."

  • "You will be immediately be transported to Paris when stepping into this restaurant. From the French jazz music serenading you in the background, the waiters conversing in French and the French magazines hanging on the wall, made me feel as if I was in a restaurant in Saint-Germain-des-Prés or on the Boulevard du Montparnasse. Great food and excellent service - we had a large party of 8, and they never skipped a beat. We enjoyed salads and escargot as appetizers. The entree highlights included a "pasta" made out of hearts of palm - unique and delicious, along with the steak tartare prepared table side. We will definitely be back - this place is truly a francophile's in NYC's dream."
