CascalEmpanadas up to the hype!The wild mushroom empanadas were incredible, totally up to the hype! We also had the crab and shrimp tostaditos, which were stellar as well. Calamari is tasty but not as unique maybe as the other dishes.

I have gone here on a date with my husband as well as with friends and the shared food and fun atmosphere make it easy to talk and relax and have fun. The dip they bring out with bread is so good, and everything I have eaten there is somewhere between good and mind blowing. My husband doesn't like desserts but he will order them here and clean up. The cocktails and after dinner drinks are great as well. It's very colorful, can be as casual or formal as you like, and is always a good time. EverytimeCascal is always a hit! Everytime I take someone to Cascal they insist they are coming back to try all the other dishes on the menu. Their food is consistent, I am never disappointed. My guests order the humus, wich I had not tried previously. I would certainly order it again. We had the ahi tuna and sizzling shrimp - yum. Lots of wonderful flavors. We always order a few tapas and split paella. This time we had the eggplant tian and Serrano ham and dates. Both were delicious. Then we gobbled down a seafood paella. There was a good amount of quality seafood and the edges of the rice were perfectly crunchy. There wasn't a scrap left on the table! No time for dessert this time but, from past experience, I know it's good. I was there several times, with my husband and with our friends. You could find it a little bit noisy during the show. So, if you want to dine and talk - come early, before the music starts, and later, you would enjoy the show.
Food is great here. As for me, I prefer small plates or appetizers, and take 2 of these ones instead of main entry. The restaurant has a huge variety of tapas.
For our last double date with friends, we got a bottle of Pinot Noir, a sampler plate of appetizers, and 3 tapas. I was a little disappointed in our table….I had purposely made a reservation ahead of time in the hopes of getting a nicer table. When we arrived, we were offered the only table for two that was left, right in the middle of the room.(I would have preferred a quieter side table, or one by the window….next time I will request.) Our waiter was ok…not overly friendly, and a little grumpy…but officious. An upbeat, fun atmosphere like Cascal should have waiters that at least act like they are having fun. Still, all in all, the food is great. The wait staff is spot-on, kept our plates moving and our tableaux exciting. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When I arrived I told the girl in the front I was expected a friend. As she walked me back to my table, I told her I was concerned that she wouldn't know I was there. I waited approximately 40 minutes at the table and my friend was waiting 40 minutes in front of the restaurant. The foo are great, the Tampa sampler is huge enough for 2 for dinner already be aware that everything in that plate is cold so I was disappointed about that but that was my fault I should have paid more attention. I had the seafood paella I wish it would have been spicier though it was too blend for me. Waiter Jose gave an excellent explanation how to navigate the menu. I enjoyed the Albondigas tapa, it was a little too spicy for my other half. Paella Rustica was o.k., maybe too much fat. Would try the traditional one next time.
