A word from Cascades - The Stanley Hotel
Cascades, a Classic American Restaurant and Steakhouse, is housed in the historic 103-year old Stanley Hotel. Join us for, breakfast, lunch or dinner in our dining room. Stop by for a cocktail in our lounge as our bartenders hand craft a cocktail from our historic cocktails menu.

The menu features certified Angus beef, fresh seafood, sandwiches, pasta and Colorado specialties. The chef has tailored a menu to compliment our local cuisine while introducing some American favorites, with a "farm to plate," influence. We also offer house-made gelatos, desserts and crème brulees.

Our bar and lounge offer complete dinner service, along with fine beverage selections and a menu of over 500 whiskies. Ask our Whiskey Concierge to help select a distinctive flight. The wine program will awaken your inner sommelier. We have an extensive list with Old World and New World selections, that will excite the novice or the aficionado with great depth and breadth.

  • "Food and service were outstanding. The meatloaf was spectacular."

  • "Nice bar but lessens the "elegant" dining expirence when you can see the the from your table"

  • "It is not cheap but what great experiences are. We made memories and they never go away. Good food., great service and an elegant setting. My daughter from Oxford, England said it was "keen fun in a posh setting"."

  • "Overpriced, mediocre service and food. I would not recommend this unless the prices reflected the mediocre food and service. The only 2 positives were kid friendly menu and ambiance. We found better tasting food elsewhere. Very disappointing experience. Several hours prior to our reservation we received a call from the Cascades confirming our reservation. They even asked us how many child menus we would need. We were 5 minutes early for our reservation. We were told to wait for our "reservation" time. No big deal we did. Our reservation time came and went. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. THEN after placing our order waited 45 minutes for our food. Staff was appropriately apologetic. At best, mediocre overall."

  • "The Stanley is certainly a must see. Hotel is historic and fun. Cascade restaurant is very pretty, but we found the menu pretty limited and prices on the very high side. I am happy to pay for an excellent meal but what you're paying for here is being a tourist."

  • "Was very quiet this morning. Food was very good and the restaurant very nice."

  • "Made a reservation because I assumed they would be busy on a holiday weekend - I was wrong. There were a lot of empty tables. The hostess stand was empty when we arrived. When she appeared, I apologized for being slightly late and she said my table had been 'very ready for quite some time'. After we were seated I asked my friend if I'd just been given attitude from the hostess - she said 'yes'. The waiter took our order, brought drinks and food - then we never saw him again for quite some time. No one checked on is or offered refills of drinks. When the waiter finally reappeared, he took my glass to refill and never brought it back! So sad such a wonderful place had such poor customer service. We left and see no reason to go back."

  • "I will never eat there again. Sent my steak back, since it was all fat. Worst meal in Estes."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "PRICES ARE GOOD FOR A UPSCALE RESTAURANT, BUT THIS IS NOT A UPSCALE RESTAURANT. STEAKS WERE COLD, SERVICE SLOW, AND WAITRESS SHOULD BE IN DINER. 3RD TIME THERE, AND ITS THE LAST. NO SIGNS OF MANAGER ASKING HOW YOUR DINNER WAS, OR DID THEY REALLY CARE. FOR 4 PEOPLE 210.00, I'D RATHER GO TO THE OUTBACK."

  • "I had a most delicious kale salad, it was crunchy. A healthy salad is a welcome treat when you are on the road."

  • "Requested a special table for my lovely wifes birthday celebration. We were seated at the best table in the restaurant. Overlooking the waterfall and gardens was exquisite. Our waiter, Bishwa, was from Nepal. Spoke beautifully with a soothing voice. Extremely attentive without being intrusive. Ask for him. Cindy had the lamb shank and I the halibut. Both were perfect. Bishwa paired the wines fabulously. The birthday desert was on the house. Out of this world presentation. A must when in Estes Park."

  • "The only downside, no outside dining on Wednesdays. But our server was great and they could not have been more accommodating. The food was delicious. All 3 of us ordered differently. The kale salad, street tacos and turkey wraps. All were delicious! The bartender does not skimp on the alcohol either"

  • "This restaurant is located in the Stanley Hotel. I was expecting it to be comparable to the hotel's reputation but was disappointed. The menu sounded nice but the food did not rise to the occasion. It was mediocre in imagination and flavor."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "The Stanley is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a spectacular location but the dining room is open to the bar which on the Saturday night I was there was extremely noisy. The wait staff were pleasant enough although rushed. Sadly there is no view from the dining room. The whole building was teeming with guests many of whom seemed to be sight-seeing. The food was reasonably priced."

  • "The creme brulee is outstanding and beautiful. The ham and cheese sounded like an incredible blend of flavors by the menu but both of the ladies in our party felt it was overpowered in flavor with the ham and needed to have more cheese to blend better. The steak sandwich without a bun was very tasty. We had two of us in our party who must eat gluten free and found no real options so we had to get creative (turkey wrap with no wrap and steak sandwich with no bun), and both of us found the flavors were good and enjoyable. By far this is one of the most overall enjoyable dining experiences available in Estes Park and we were not disappointed."

  • "WE WERE VISITING FROM OKLAHOMA AND DINED HERE TO CELEBRATE OUR 30TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.tHE FOOD EXCELLENT-STAFF ACCOMIDATING- THEY WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SEE THAT WE HAD A GREAT DINING EXPEREINCE. OUR QUESTIONS ON OUR ENTREE SELECTION AND EXTRAS WERE ALL ANSWERED. THE BREAD WAS FRESH AND WARM AS WELL AS THE OLIVE OIL TO DIP IN. THEY EVEN TOOK OUR PICTURE FOR US. WE HAD A VERY SPECIAL TIME AND WILL CERTAINLY GO BACK. WE ENJOYED ALL THE LITTLE EXTRAS OFFERED AT THE STANLEY AND WE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THEM! WE WERE THANKFUL WE MADE THE STANLEY ONE OF OUR CHOICES DURING OUR COLORADO ANNIVERSARY TRIP."

  • "Had not been to the Stanley restaurant for over 5 years because the last visit was a disaster (food and service). I think the place may have changed owners since that time because this was a complete 180 turn. The service was very attentive to our party of four for breakfast. Each of us had different orders and all were a success. I recommend the pancakes with real maple syrup. Also the coffee was robust and my cup was kept full."

  • "Before my visit, I had reviewed other postings online for best restaurants in the area. A couple local restaurants were noted many times over and I was only able to find a few recccomendations for this restaurant....but all positive. Since we were staying at the Stanley I decided to go ahead and book reservations, I was blown away the food is fantastic and I highly recommend going to this restaurant. Their twist on well recognized recipes is what sets this place apart from all the rest. The Redbird chicken, Colorado meatloaf, crispy brussels sprouts, and squash potatoes are "must tries" in my book."

  • "We to the Cascades while staying at the Stanley to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We ordered the steak and lobster, we were not disappointed the meal was awesome! Our server paid just the right amount of attention to us, she was so friendly and made sure we had every thing we needed. The steaks were done to perfection and very tender and juicy. It was a little pricey but was well worth it, such a beautiful place, we will go again!"

  • "The food was great, same for ambience. The service was not. Constantly had to ask for water. Food arrived warm, not hot. Did not send it back. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time. We feel that's the reason the food came out warm and not hot."

  • "I made a reservation for my husband and I during our honeymoon and I am really pleased how it turned out. The restaurant was quiet, despite the bar being next door, which I find very impressive. The server placed us at a table in our own little room without us asking and was very attentive plus patient with us. I have never had such a nice experience dining at a restaurant! Definitely a must go to! "

  • "Our Server was terrible and the ambiance of our special evening was ruined by loud Bar Patrons watching a Basketball Game. We ordered a Trout Dip with Flatbread Seeded Crackers but when we requested more Crackers for the remaining dip our Server brought out Grocery Store Crackers. Not what I would expect after paying $14.00 for an appetizer. The main entrees of Rib Eye Steak and the Stanley Hotels Meatloaf were tasty but we could not enjoy the Meatloaf as leftovers because after asking our Server 3 times for a take home box we gave up. The proximity of the Bar to the Cascades Dining Room is so close we had to endure loud cheering throughout our entire meal. It is our opinion that The Stanley Hotel no longer cares about their Guests. "

  • "We stayed at the Stanley Hotel for our anniversary and ate that night here and also the next day for lunch. Although a little pricey, it is not out of line for what they offer. I was a little concerned from a few negative reviews on Yelp!, but they proved unfounded, at least in our experience. I think it would be a great place for that special occasion for just about anyone,"

  • "We made our reservation for our last night in hopes of having a great final meal of our vacation. We both had the NY steak which was cooked well, but under seasoned as well as the potato puree. The crème brulee was okay, but certainly not the best I've had. The biggest disappointment was out server. She was busy, which I can understand, but she basically ignored our table while chatting it up with other tables. I don't know why, perhaps because we were younger than the other tables and she didn't expect a big tip from us. It was really a low moment of our trip. "

  • "I took my girlfriend out for a romantic birthday. Not only did we have a perfect view outside, but the waitress was very nice and helpful and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a special night out in Estes Park. "

  • "My wife and I stayed at the Stanley Lodge for our birthdays. This is the third time we have spent a good amount of time in the bar area and spent a reasonable amont of $ there as well with friends The service from the bartenders is both slow and comes across putout. As I observed for awhile, it could be a management issue. The bartenders are always running. Appetizers were delivered to the wrong tables multiple times while we were there. Not sure if they are understaffed or if more efficient workflow is needed. Whichever the case, the consequence is frustrated customers. The restaurant is delightful, excellent service and a great experience overall. "

  • "This restaurant was so charming. We have visited the Stanley several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it's fine dining experience. This was no exception and we had a very pleasant afternoon, with good food, good wine and excellent service. The staff was exceptionally gracious and allowed us to select from the dinner menu even though we were there at lunch time. It was a very special occasion and they made it even better. The chef made an excellent cake for our college graduate's party and made the day even more memorable. Thank you for making our day extra special ."

  • "Main course of lamb shank was terrific. Lentils & chard was also very good. Brussels sprouts were over cooked and were dry. Creme brulee had a soft sugar brulee, not "crispy". It did not taste as if it was caramelized right before serving but rather a few hours before hand. The goat-cheese cheesecake with fruit puree was excellent. It was the best part of the meal. Table busman was excellent, polite, prompt. Waitress met expectations. "

  • "They have items on their menu I have never heard of, like candied bacon. YUM! Their bar tenders know their business and aren't stingy with the booze, friendly patrons, friendly staff, great view. If I lived in Estes Park I would be a regular at Cascades."

  • "We had one of the best meals ever. Fresh, clean food: the kale salad and beet salad were delicious and the pecan-crusted acorn squash was scrumptious. The grilled salmon and pea risotto was also fabulous. Loved it!"

  • "As we were staying at the Stanley Hotel we were limited to dining arrangements. Previous reviews were not always favorable. We had very enjoyable dining experiences both dinners. The service was very attentive without being in your face. The food was excellent, and fresh. The menu options are limited but very well prepared. Enjoyed their French Onion Soup. Would dine here again even if not staying at the hotel."

  • "The manager and waitress were polite and professional, but the hosts was unprofessional and rude when I arrive a few minutes early she did not ask my name told me to come back at the time of my reservation, even with empty tables because the kitchen would become overwhelmed. The food was fair, for the price of the steaks; we ordered were tough and not of the quality expected, have had a better steak at several chain restaurants at a fraction of the price. Overall, I left disappointed in the experience and will not return, nor will I recommend them in the future. "
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "For the price you pay the food was just so so. I ordered the ribeye and it was very fatty, tough, and hard to cut. Plus all of the tables food came out cold. When we told them that our food was cold they didn't take it back, they just gave us a free dessert that was nothing special either. The only thing I can say about this restaurant was that the wait staff was friendly. Otherwise it was nothing to write home about."

  • "The meals are always great at Cascades! We had beef, lamb & halibut - all were very tasty. We would also recommend the kale salad. The bread with the oil & olives were a nice start. Our server, Bishwa, was awesome!!"

  • "I took my nephew here as a last minute trip up to Estes Park. He had never been. I made a reservation last minute at Open Table for the Cascades Restaurant. We were seated immediately after arriving. The service was outstanding and food delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. We had leg of lamb, scallops and their meatloaf. All was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. Don't miss this restaurant."

  • "We had dinner here following the ghost tour at the hotel. The food was amazing! Best fried chicken I've ever had! The ambience was romantic and service was great. Only downside is the restaurant is open and next to the bar so it can get loud at times."
