Service at Cascades was awful. We arrived on time for our res., and asked the hostess to visit the bar before dinner. Forty minutes later, this courtesy was upended by a rude waitress who stated "you missed your time" and "there is no table for you". The waitress proceeded to argue with the hostess in front of our party as though we had committed a crime. I followed up the next day with the F&B Manager (who apologized), and I wrote a letter to The Stanley Hotel GM. As of today, two weeks later, I have not received a reply. The Cascades is billed as the best restaurant in Estes Park. Perhaps, but it would not stay in business if it were in Denver or any of the other ski resorts in Colorado. Don't waste your time or money!

We came here for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We were greatly surprised to have our own room for our dining experience!!! The food was great! We Had the halibut and walleye for our main course and trout dip for the appetizer. We were too full for dessert! We did the 90 min paranormal tour, which was great! Got a pic with an orb in it and I felt like my legs were being touched during the tour which, as we learned during the tour, was a characteristic of one of the "ghosts". And if it was nothing still pretty cool! Amazing place. Would definitely come back! Hope to stay there sometime.

I was very underwhelmed by the food and service. The waiter recommended the tacos and they turned out to be some shredded pork with a few white onions and some cilantro on top and that was it. It barely filled is up.

I will admit, I was a bit disappointed in the overall atmosphere. It's probably my own fault for not doing more research, but I was under the impression that the mountains would be visible while dining. Also, I expected a bit more from the interior of the restaurant. It was nice, but not quite as elegant as I was expecting. I was a little put off by the servers wearing blue jeans, but as my fiance reminded me, it is a pretty outdoorsy and touristy area. I was also a bit disappointed that the 1/2 bottles of wine on the menu were all but out. We just ordered a couple of glasses. But the food itself was very good! We ordered a wonderful shrimp appetizer, steaks, yukon cold potatoes and brussels sprouts. All delicious! Spendy, though.

Our nephew ordered a steak - medium/rare - it was served medium/well. We had it returned - the second steak was rare but he decided to eat it anyway. Took too long to get our food and he didn't want us waiting again. Meal was okay nothing to rave about. Location - The Stanley Hotel - made it worthwhile.

We were seated promptly by host and received menus and wine list. The busser also severed us water quickly, unfortunately that was the end of our service. After we waited for more than 15 minutes with out another soul checking on us we went somewhere else. We will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Technically we can not rate food or service because we didn't receive either.

Overpriced, mediocre service and food. I would not recommend this unless the prices reflected the mediocre food and service. The only 2 positives were kid friendly menu and ambiance. We found better tasting food elsewhere. Very disappointing experience. Several hours prior to our reservation we received a call from the Cascades confirming our reservation. They even asked us how many child menus we would need. We were 5 minutes early for our reservation. We were told to wait for our "reservation" time. No big deal we did. Our reservation time came and went. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. THEN after placing our order waited 45 minutes for our food. Staff was appropriately apologetic. At best, mediocre overall.

Made a reservation because I assumed they would be busy on a holiday weekend - I was wrong. There were a lot of empty tables. The hostess stand was empty when we arrived. When she appeared, I apologized for being slightly late and she said my table had been 'very ready for quite some time'. After we were seated I asked my friend if I'd just been given attitude from the hostess - she said 'yes'. The waiter took our order, brought drinks and food - then we never saw him again for quite some time. No one checked on is or offered refills of drinks. When the waiter finally reappeared, he took my glass to refill and never brought it back! So sad such a wonderful place had such poor customer service. We left and see no reason to go back.

PRICES ARE GOOD FOR A UPSCALE RESTAURANT, BUT THIS IS NOT A UPSCALE RESTAURANT. STEAKS WERE COLD, SERVICE SLOW, AND WAITRESS SHOULD BE IN DINER. 3RD TIME THERE, AND ITS THE LAST. NO SIGNS OF MANAGER ASKING HOW YOUR DINNER WAS, OR DID THEY REALLY CARE. FOR 4 PEOPLE 210.00, I'D RATHER GO TO THE OUTBACK.

Requested a special table for my lovely wifes birthday celebration. We were seated at the best table in the restaurant. Overlooking the waterfall and gardens was exquisite. Our waiter, Bishwa, was from Nepal. Spoke beautifully with a soothing voice. Extremely attentive without being intrusive. Ask for him. Cindy had the lamb shank and I the halibut. Both were perfect. Bishwa paired the wines fabulously. The birthday desert was on the house. Out of this world presentation. A must when in Estes Park.

The Stanley is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a spectacular location but the dining room is open to the bar which on the Saturday night I was there was extremely noisy. The wait staff were pleasant enough although rushed. Sadly there is no view from the dining room. The whole building was teeming with guests many of whom seemed to be sight-seeing. The food was reasonably priced.

The creme brulee is outstanding and beautiful. The ham and cheese sounded like an incredible blend of flavors by the menu but both of the ladies in our party felt it was overpowered in flavor with the ham and needed to have more cheese to blend better. The steak sandwich without a bun was very tasty. We had two of us in our party who must eat gluten free and found no real options so we had to get creative (turkey wrap with no wrap and steak sandwich with no bun), and both of us found the flavors were good and enjoyable. By far this is one of the most overall enjoyable dining experiences available in Estes Park and we were not disappointed.

Had not been to the Stanley restaurant for over 5 years because the last visit was a disaster (food and service). I think the place may have changed owners since that time because this was a complete 180 turn. The service was very attentive to our party of four for breakfast. Each of us had different orders and all were a success. I recommend the pancakes with real maple syrup. Also the coffee was robust and my cup was kept full.

Before my visit, I had reviewed other postings online for best restaurants in the area. A couple local restaurants were noted many times over and I was only able to find a few recccomendations for this restaurant....but all positive. Since we were staying at the Stanley I decided to go ahead and book reservations, I was blown away the food is fantastic and I highly recommend going to this restaurant. Their twist on well recognized recipes is what sets this place apart from all the rest. The Redbird chicken, Colorado meatloaf, crispy brussels sprouts, and squash potatoes are "must tries" in my book.

Our Server was terrible and the ambiance of our special evening was ruined by loud Bar Patrons watching a Basketball Game. We ordered a Trout Dip with Flatbread Seeded Crackers but when we requested more Crackers for the remaining dip our Server brought out Grocery Store Crackers. Not what I would expect after paying $14.00 for an appetizer. The main entrees of Rib Eye Steak and the Stanley Hotels Meatloaf were tasty but we could not enjoy the Meatloaf as leftovers because after asking our Server 3 times for a take home box we gave up. The proximity of the Bar to the Cascades Dining Room is so close we had to endure loud cheering throughout our entire meal. It is our opinion that The Stanley Hotel no longer cares about their Guests.
