After dinner we ordered dessert and there wasn't any mention of a happy birthday, candle, or anything. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the food was good, but I wouldn't say the food is as good as the prices you pay and I was disappointed that nothing was done for the birthday when I had made two requests. Their steaks are always cooked exactly as ordered and the homemade steak sauce is out of this world. On this night we had the special, smoked scallops, shrimp, and sausage in a tomato cream sauce and it was so delicious!! Depending on the time you are there, yes it gets lively and a little loud, but that is what I imagine F.O. Stanley wanted it to be when he built this grand hotel and I'm sure it was when he and Mrs. Stanley held their parties! The staff is always warm, knowledgeable,and very gracious! We had lunch late, about 2:15pm, so there was not a crowd. The service was good, and the food was good. One of our party said her steak was not cooked to her order and that it was tough, but she did not complain to the waiter, so did not give them a chance to correct her complaint. The food was exceptional! I ordered the meatloaf and my husband had the center cut filet they were both perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. I don't think that I have had a more enjoyable evening! I only wish that the menu had been a bit more extensive and adventuresome, but its limitations forced me to order something I have not had in at least thirty
years - meaitloaf, but wow, was it good ( made on the premises from bison, elk, and pork). And my wife gave a big thumbs up on the trout.

This restaurant, while in the Stanley, deserves to be a destination for fine dining regardless of where someone is staying. Our two day stay in the Stanley was simply not enough time to sample all the fare we wanted to try.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a special occassionMy mom, sister and I stayed at the Stanley Hotel before summitting Pike's Peak early the next day. We went to Cascades for our last dinner before our mountain adventure. The food was delicious. My favorite part was the Trout Dip. I'm not a big fan of trout but our server insisted we try this dish. We were so glad we listened to him. Throughout the entire meal he gave us helpful tips about the menu and what we would like based on our different tastes.
