CasbahMother's Day DinnerWe will absolutely visit Casbah again - the food was amazing and the selection very interesting. The sword fish was perfect. I would have given our "overall experience" 5 stars except for one thing. We had early reservations and the dining area was nearly empty yet my husband and I were seated right next to a table with 3 small children. While the kids were fairly well behaved, occasional loud shrieks and screams were common. I know this is not the restaurant's fault, but the hostess/host should be more aware of the seating arrangement. There were many empty tables for 2 away from the noisy family. No, we did not ask to be reseated, so we are partly to blame as well. The crusty bread was served with a garlic butter spread or a Greek yogurtt based spread that was very good. I ordered the Grilled Swordfish and it was very good but not outstanding. 4 stars for the swordfish. My partner ordered the Long Island Duck, based on the recommendation of our waitress. My partner loved it. She insisted I try a bit and I had to agree. 5 stars for the duck.
A very, very good meal that was accompanied by truly outstanding service. Our waitress was truly a gem. She seemed to take great pride in the fare at Casbah. It has a very comfortable yet intimate atmosphere and more importantly the food hasn't fallen over the years from its high standard that it had since it first opened. Derrick, our server did everything perfectly. very helpful and attentive. i do think of casbah as somewhere i go on a special occasion, though and not so much for its bar scene or a random choice for a night out to dinner. thank you so much for the pleasant experience and outstanding food. I had the beet salad to start, licked the plate clean basically. My boyfriend and I shared the sea scallop appetizer since it was the first time trying scallops for the both of us, they were pretty tasty, although the dish only consisted of two scallops for $7 a piece. We both tried the pork chop and it was good I just wished there were a little more of the sauce on it, also the risotto it was paired with was fantastic. We tried two desserts, the dark choc raspberry bread pudding which was fresh out of the oven and big enough to share between the two of us--but I wasn't a fan.
