  • We enjoyed looking out over

We enjoyed looking out over the beach and the wharf as we dined - the night view was beautiful. The dining room has several levels, so every seat is a good one, with a view out. Our server was very professional - friendly and attentive, but not hovering. He was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu and handily explained any dish we asked about, with which we were unfamiliar. His suggestions were "spot on"! Every dish that came to the table was consumed with much enjoyment. We truly felt pampered! Two members of our party had the roast chicken and raved. My husband and I shared the 20-oz. bone-in rib eye steak, which was cooked exactly as ordered. The accompanying 'smashed potatoes' and sautéed spinach were yumm

This is a must experience restaurant! The location is quaint, the view is great. The food is excellent, we have never been disappointed with the quality, creativness, and execution of their dishes. The Chef prepares each dish with such a passion for perfection, even after a full course meal you find yourself craving more. A creative flair fusing medeteranian, middle-eastern with a California flair.

We are locals and had Thanksgiving dinner recently on a gorgeous warm (for November) day. The food was wonderful, especially the squash, pomegrante salad and brussel sprouts. The ambiance and setting are elegant without being pretentious, and the waitstaff were attentive and very engaging in light of the fact they were working on a holiday. We got to watch a beautiful sky, blue pink sunset and the lights and moon made for a great end for our day. This restaurant would definitely be a fit for a romantic, special dinner.

The restaurant is Fantastic! First you HAVE TO try the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, they are to die for. This is their signature appetizer and what they'll be known for. Our meal was the Burger and it was perfectly cooked with a juicy organic half-pound patty. Apple crumble a la mode for dessert was yum and polished it off in a few minutes... The new and friendly manager Patrick and the new chef are doing some amazing things with the recipes and food trying to get a better reputation, this is a place not to miss even though it's not in a place where locals tend to go (touristy Boardwalk Main St). Anyway, this is a wonderful menu with a chef that is doing outstanding work. We're very impressed and will be back next time we're in Santa Cruz.

    Dined on 11/3/2012
There was a large wedding party there at the same time so it was very noisy. The food was just OK. Desserts were less than OK. The service was excellent. All three of us women at the table had special dietary needs and they were very accommodating which is unusual. I had heard they remodeled but it was still kinda dated and cheesy. The view is fantastic!

We ate at Casa Blanca during the Santa Cruz restaurant week. Our blue cheese martini finally showed up after asking for it twice and after polishing off our appetizers. Several unordered glasses of wine showed up in the interim as if in consolation. The vegetable tangine was over cooked and the ambience was in desperate need of an update. On the up side the view pleasantly looked onto the Santa Cruz pier and the wait staff was friendly.

They have a new chef, who has put his twist on the ingredients in the meals, so the description doesn't exactly match, what is stated on the menu but that didn't matter because the food was superb! I had the organic chicken which was delicious and well presented. The pudding I had which was olive oil cake with rich dark chocolate quenelles of sauce and cherries was fabulous. We had a table overlooking the boardwalk which looked lovely lit up at night. Would recommend.

The restaurant is very quaint with a limited menu. We asked and they just hired a new chef. There were only five entrees. At first we felt a little slighted but we all ordered and the food was fabulous. The service was impeccable. The wine list was broad but lacking some of the staples we enjoyed. The prices are moderate and it was an enjoyable evening.

First visit since they changed their menu, etc. Samll, but nicely varied menu. Items were good, but not great and not terribly creative. The cheese plate and the ice cream sandwich are great. The bread with meza plate and the cheese plate were weak and not near as good as the bread they just provided on the table. Too bad, it could have made these dishes even better witha great bread.

Restaurant is elevated offering a fantastic view of Santa Cruz beach, wharf, and Boardwalk. Seating arranged on a split level allowing for all tables to have view. The focaccio bread accompanied by a pesto spread was excellent. Full bar allowed for cocktails, the wine selection was moderate, but well appointed with local and European selections. Appetizers were unique combining a euro-mediteranian fusion. The octopus carpacio was a delicacy, thinly sliced, and combined with finely cut select greens small pieces of grapefruit made this dish exquisite. The roasted duck was combined with small greens and fresh grapes allowing for the different flavors to enhance the duck to its fullest, it was flavorful, but balanced, an exquisite dish.

I booked this place because it was recommended by my step-father. We visited here for my mom's birthday. We were the first guest for the night (6:30PM dinner on Sunday) and we got to pick the table (yay!) The food selection is pretty good and glad that they have kid's menu too. I had fois gras for the first time and it was not what I expected. Don't get me wrong the other food which my parents ordered (Seabass and pasta I think) were excellent and portion is HUGE! Wine selection is pretty good too. Owner personally recommended us which wine we should try and it was funny how I actually wanted it (it was white Italian wine). Overall I liked it. Good for couples.

The food was great! I had the duck, which was superb, my date had the lamb which was very good. Homeade noodles with the broth from the lamb. However, the lamb said there were Santa Cruz Wild Mushrooms in the dish, which there were not. However, the lamb said there were Santa Cruz Wild Mushrooms in the dish, which there were not. I had the sweet corn Creme Brule (yes, sweet corn). It was good but it was suppose to be topped with a pistachio topping, which it was missing. Though the Creme Brule was very good, it was a little thin and the burnt sugar top didn't crunch as it should.

I wanted to like this restaurant but, it was very disappointing. Cheap decor, mediocre food at best and unrefined service . You definitely aren't getting what you paid for. Our Entrees had no taste and it took forever just to get the glass of wine I ordered. This restaurant could use a make over as well as training in fine dining.

New ownership has done a great job up-dating the menu of a Santa Cruz landmark, my wife and used our dinner there as a belated Valentine and couldn't have been more satisfied. Even though we had an appetizer, salads, entree and dessert we weren't over stuffed nor did we have to bring home left-overs (as is ususally the case when dining out)Bravo and we look forward to sharing this experience with our friends!

Needing a special place for Valentine's dinner, and having heard good things about Casablanca years ago, I made my reservation. There were no reviews but I hoped for the best and was not disappointed. Our service was polite, frienedly and the timing of each service was perfect. Such a refreshing change from other Santa Cruz eateries. The wine list is ok. The food was artfully presented, perfectly seasoned and the correct temperature. Portions are not big, but appropriate, and we were satisfied. I plan to make it a valentine's tradition to dine at Casablanca.
