Diner Reviews
  • "Very friendly greeting, but then the waiter spoiled the 'glow' with his glower. He seemed distracted and unhappy to be there. Needless to say, the attitude was reflected in his service. I'd go back because the parking situation and the food were excellent."

  • "The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere great and we enjoyed the delicious food. We were downtown to see a Laker Game at Staples Center, and we were able to park under Cosa Nostra all evening for no extra charge. Excellent experience."

  • "Sadly we seem to pick our restaurants by the parking options offered, yes that's true but Casa Nostra would make it worth the hassle even without the easy parking option. The food is first rate, fresh and flavorful, excellent, the drinks are well made and all top shelf ingredients, wine list is quite nice, all price ranges represented in Italian and California wines. The staff is all Italian, and quite attentive. The bar started getting busy as we were leaving around 9pm, elegant young crowd mostly. An excellent dining experience overall. Recommended!"

The waiters are pretty hood lookin. You might want to touch up the lipstick before entering. =) Great eye candy. Cant wait til nexttime."

  • "Like most, we went here because of its close proximity to LA Live. Reviews were good on OpenTable so we figured we'd give it a shot. Hostess was a bit snippy and seated us outside instead of main dining area which was very pretty and had good ambience. Outside was outside - not fancy and for the price of the meal it should be one in the same or close to it. Our waiter was awesome, very friendly and helpful with the menu. However, the more we sat outside on the patio, the more we started to notice that maybe we weren't up to par to sit in the main dining area. Food was good but not great. Our bill was a bit high for so-so food - good but not great. Probably wouldn't go back."

  • "Thought this place was a wonderful find! Nearby the STaples Center, but also good if heading to the music center, although must drive there. Lovely patio setting: delicious fish and appetizers."

  • "We requested a last minute reservation for a group of 23. The manager Marco, not only accommodated us but made it look effortless. He greeted us with a great smile and rambled off all of the specials for the tram several times. All very delicious. From the homemade pastas to the Sambucca and Tiramisu to top off the night. We also had birthday celebrations and they made it all work out smoothly. Love this place and when I visit LA will definitely be back!"

  • "My husband and I were absolutely delighted with our dining experience at Casa Nostra. . It was our first time at the restaurant and considering that it is relatively new and that it is close to the Pantry, I did not have high expectations. However, was I surprised at the quality of the food- excellent, the charm of the owner who came around to our table many times to check on how things were going and talk to us, the menu items were varied and the canolli were excellent. I rate Italian restaurant by the risotto and the cannoli (not sure of the spelling). Both were excellent, prepared to order and wonderful. I should mention that for downtown LA, the prices were reasonable including the wine list."

  • "Best gnocchi I've ever had, excellent wine list, fantastic ambience. Perfect great restaurant on the way to a Kings, Lakers or Clippers game if you'd like to avoid the madness at L.A. Live."

  • "This is my second time dining at Casa Nostra and my opinion has improved quite a bit. My first outing several months ago was a bit disappointing with poor service being the main culprit and just average food. However, the service has improved with the manager checking in on us a few times but never imposing and the food quality improving. The meatball appetizers were amazingly fresh and tasty...very tender and flavorful. The pasta with Boar was very tender and delicious while the chicken was probably the most tender cut we've ever had anywhere. The Tiramisu was deliciously sweet but not over bearing and contained just the right amount of alcoholic kick without taking away from the flavor. We look forward to our next visit!"

  • "Amazing experince everytime I come here. They have great authentic food, great ambiance and a great waitstaff. The restaurant caters well to a lunch meeting and once happy hour begins the vibe changes to a hip restaurant/bar. The bar has a good vibe to it with great Happy hours specials. They have a delicious dinner menu and amazing daily specials. This restaurant will offer you first class service and your parking is free, yes free in downtown LA with a validation. The restaurant is within walking distance to LA Live. Come enjoy dinner before you head out to the clubs or a concert."

  • "We thought we were off to a good start when we walked in the restaurant and got seated right away. The atmosphere seemed really nice, and that is pretty much where it ended! Our service was unacceptably slow. It took about an hour to get our food. The waiter did a really poor job of returning to the table to see if anyone needed anything. One of the entrees ordered, pumpkin tortellini, arrived under-cooked and tasteless (they did take it off the bill). We had the misfortune of observing some customers try to talk to the manager about wrong charges on their bill and he just dismissed them and told them to leave the restaurant. We don't know the exact story, but it just seemed to fit with the experience we were having . . . NOT GOOD!"

  • "If you're looking for a great place with outstanding food and a cozy ambiance, and you're trying to stay away from the over crowded L.A. Live this is the place for you. We went here before an event at Staples Center and we were so thrilled. I've eaten at most of the other restaurants at L.A. Live, and it's sometimes hard to get a reservation, or you have to wait for a table, which can be stressful if you have a game or a concert to catch. I made a reservation here the same day, and we were seated right a way. I am definitely coming back here again."

  • "Very short walk to LA Live and Staples Center. SEVEN HOURS OF FREE VALIDATED INDOOR PARKING! Good basic Italian food at fair prices. My only complaint was the $20 corkage fee, which is a little high given the other prices."

  • "The food here was incredible! We had apps, dinner and dessert and nothing was short of incredible. Our waiter was great as well. He was eager to please and always had a smile on his face. Job well done!"

  • "I dined here on my birthday the 26th with a Living Social deal. I was greeted with warm smiles from the host and wait staff immediately upon entering. So I said to myself this feels great. My waiter was so professional and eager to take care of the LS deal, so that I could garner all my attention to ordering. I was very impressed and it felt good to know my money was good there even with the Coupon. My appetizer, main course dish, and my dessert came out promptly and was sooooo delish! They placed my cloth on my lap for me to protect spills and my empty plates were cleared in perfect time. I can't brag enough about my experience. I felt like a Queen on my birthday. Thanks for a great dining experience on my special day!"

  • "Being that it was our first time at this restaurant we did not know what to expect, but we were very pleased with the restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great. We had dinner there on Valentines day and although the place was busy, our waiter and the rest of the staff were very attentive and not intrusive. We also love the fact that Casa Nostra kept their regular menu available for dinner. Thanks to Casa Nostra our Valentines day dinner was a hughe success. We will most definitely be back and we have already recommended the place to several of our friends."

  • "We came here for our Valentines dinner. I made a great choice because it was a hit for my bf. We enjoyed the meal and the service. We didnt feel intruded by other guest seating. The waitress was efficient and the owner did his rounds to check on guests. Absolute favorite of ours and now a part of our special moments."

  • "Came here on a valentines day date and we were not let down. From the downtown view to the ambiance and of course the food Casa Nostra was a pleasant surprise for both my date and I, although out waiter was hard to understand due to his Italian accent another employee over heard him and helped us out with the menu. He gave us suggestions on appetizers and the main course and again we were not disappointed. All in all I would definitely come back wether it be on a date or with a group of friends Casa Nostra gained a fan and returning customer."

  • "The restaurant was very nice but the service was great. They make sure you're satisfied with everything. You'll never feel like you've been forgotten about. Good food and decently priced wine list. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. If we go to another concert we will definitely go back again."

  • "Even, when I order from the happy hour or appetizer menu, it still feels me up, and the food isn't greasy, only elegant. I come here everytime when I have tickets to the Lakers game, and it's going to be my hot spot because of free parking as well. Also, I came here recently for my dad's bday and the waiter set up a tiramisu with Happy Birthday on it."

  • "The food was excellent and very authentic; however, the noise level with the '80's soundtrack was quite deafening. I had to shout at my husband sitting across from me at a small table. We couldn't hear the waiter and kept asking him to repeat the specials. We are not old (in our 40's) and have excellent hearing. Not a romantic place to eat at since it is a bit too loud. If I returned, it would have to be during lunch since I have friends that work nearby andt they mentioned that it is quiet during lunch."

  • "The food was authentic Italian and the wait staff is wonderful. The wine list was adaquate, but not extensive. Casa Nostradamus is on my list of restaurants to visit every time I'm in LA!"

  • "This restaurant is a little bit of a mismatch. The Italian food, which is actually very good, seems to be out of place in this loud bar setting. Come for the food, leave for the ambiance."

  • "Good location, easy parking, solid food. Although wait staff was polite, our dinner experience was almost 2 hours and a half. in all fairness, there was a game at staples, but I would think management would make sure there's enough servers and staff. Happy hour is also tricky in that it is only available at the bar. Overall, a mediocre experience, which is unfortunate since the food was pretty good -- minus the fact that my risotto was lined with clams and mussel shells in which probably half were empty. I'd rather it not be presented at all than to get empty shells on a plate...lack of attention to detail but so much potential."
    Dined on 2/3/2014
  • "Everything was just ok here. I could tell the whole staff was on edge from getting slammed by people going to the staples center. It may have been better if that had not happened."
